Food Before and After Photos

A disaster of a breakfast- bacon egg and cheese omelette that made me physically sick. 135 calories for what I ate prior to it coming back up. Then dinner of leftover stuffed pepper casserole topped with garbanzo beans and fried onions. 396 calories. In between I’ve been testing crispy cookie recipes for snickerdoodles and chocolate chip. The red velvet cookies are a cheat using a boxed cake mix (add 2 eggs and 1/2 cup oil) and Hershey’s cream cheese chips. Annnnnnnd, now I’m onto baking oatmeal scotchies and eventually testing a recipe I’m going to call blueberry cheesecake crumbles (blueberry cream cheese cookies with a blueberry swirled cream cheese frosting then topped with streusel. I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do with all these cookies (currently 13 dozen) seeing as thanksgiving is this week and everyone will be eating pies and such. -

I’m definitely not a Brit but this totally looks like marmite on toast. I’ve only ever had Vegemite (which I love but my kids hate) but I would assume it’s similar. -

After trial and error I found that cutting into cubes then pressing works best. Then, I coat mine in cornstarch, a little untoasted sesame oil and soy sauce then bake at 400 for 20ish minutes. -

The first 2 are freezer meals- sweet and sour chicken ver rice and blueberries (ate all of mine) balsamic chicken pasta (for the kids not me) and then a non-freezer meal- vegan eggs with Anaheim pepper and spinach, blueberries and toast (there were 2 slices but I ate the other before the scramble was ready). Ate it all. -
How long did you drink protein shakes after bypass?
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Mona Ometuruwa's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’m 2yrs out from sleeve to bypass revision and still drink a protein shake most days in my coffee. Do what works for you and is acceptable with your surgical team. -

It just looks like it. The shelf is shaped weird. I think it’s a manufacturer defect as I’ve already replaced a shelf in the fridge, too. -

Also, today was a meal prep day! for kids’ breakfast this week (not pictured, forgot to grab a photo sorry) 10 bacon egg and cheese burritos, 10 sausage, egg and cheese burritos, 10 Canadian bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches, 6 egg and cheese sandwiches, and pancakes. This took about an hour total. freezer meals (pictured in my very disorganized freezer) 2 pepper steaks, 1 beef mushroom roast, 3 stuffed pepper soup, 2 creamy Italian chicken, 2 balsamic chicken, 2 corn lime chicken, 2 sweet and sour chicken, and 2 extra bags of chicken ready for other meals. So 14 dinner meals plus 2 extras which took maybe 2 hours total. I can just dump them in the slow cooker in the mornings and have dinner ready without much effort. Also, an unknown child spilled something in there (I’m thinking blueberries) and by the time I was done and saw it 😒 … It can wait another day. -

Random foods- a breakfast bowl with potatoes, onions, peppers, carrots and vegan scrambled eggs (just egg brand) and harissa spice vegan sausage patties with Chinese takeout style broccoli (only ate half of it) someone mentioned pita chips- they were on sale and I had a coupon so I bought some! And a mini cheese wedge. -

Thursday’s chicken enchiladas (I ate half of one) and then I made bread that I forgot to tent so the tops got extra toasty. Turned a couple slices into toast with cashew butter. (Ate one slice). Friday the kids had pasta salad and I packed pintos and rice for my work lunch. -

How this salad came out to 500 calories is insane! I’m blaming the quorn meatless nuggets (vegetarian not vegan as they have egg whites in them). Even so, I’m at 1300 calories for the day even with “ice cream” for dessert. -

Y’all remember those pie pumpkins I bought in September as part of my groceries? I roasted one and made it into…. A pie! 😂🤷♀️ I probably won’t even eat any of it but it sure smells good. -

The past few days have been a huge blur. I wish I’d taken more photos but I made the dessert bar goodies for a coworker’s wedding yesterday. You’ll just have to settle for these chocolate dipped pretzels and these pumpkin roll stacks. When I dropped off the leftovers at work (per the bride’s request) one of the nurses asked me if I was a professional baker. 😂 -
Carbs yes or no

They’re actually a kind of Greek cookie. As far as sweetener it’s not all interchangeable. Stevia and swerve need to use about half which can affect the baking ratios. When it comes to certain ratios there are better options like allulose or monk fruit blends. -
NON Drinker Drinking Question. (Alcohol)
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Veritas34's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
From a medical standpoint I have to agree with your nutritionist. Alcohol is a poisonous liquid that has no real nutritional value on its own. Also, WLS patients are more likely to suffer from transfer addiction which includes alcohol. From a WLS patient perspective, one drink isn’t the end of the world and if that’s how you choose to spend your birthday then that’s your business. Just choose a really good drink and just have the one as alcohol can affect people different after surgery. -

If you aren’t allergic 2 cups almond flour, 2-3 egg whites, 1tsp vanilla or almond extract 1/2 cup granulated sugar substitute. Mix and shape in crescent moons. Bake at 350 for 17-20 minutes until golden brown around the edges. -

Question for the ladies
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Rachael101's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’ve gained about 30th lbs from my lowest weight (had just recovered from a bowel resection due to a hernia) and depression eating the past 6 months since my dad passed away. But I’m finally getting back into healthier eating and the depression weight is coming off pretty easy. Depo is definitely dependent on the person. Estrogen based BC made my periods worse (period related anemia) and for me no periods is a godsend. -

I wouldn’t even know. I’ve been using depo for a few years now and have had a total of 4 “periods” in the last 2. -

And I’m not even sorry about it! 😂 I’ve always been taught that food is a gateway to cultures. Exploring different spice palates, recipes, and methods gives me such a bigger appreciation for those who eat those meals regularly. -
Baby Spoons
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to KimA-GA's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If the thought of “baby spoons” makes you feel silly then check out demitasse spoons. They’re meant for espresso but I eat off them regularly as I find regular sized spoons cumbersome and awkward. -
Short term disability?
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to AmandaD.'s topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
For my employer it was fmla and they paid 60% of my pay and I could use PTO to cover the other 40%. Short term disability only kicks in for me after 12 weeks and up to 6 months with the same scale for pay. Knowing that, I actually scheduled my VSG for 45 days before my knee hardware removal and then went back to work 3 weeks after that so I could use fmla to cover both. Either way my company has a claims line specifically for fmla and short term disability outside of HR as far as pay is concerned. I just had to notify HR 30 days prior that I was having surgery. -

Lunch was this huge salad- romaine, cucumber, tomatoes, danmuji, rotisserie chicken, smoked turkey sausage, croutons, and blueberries with a splash of balsamic vinegar. And because I knew I wouldn’t be in the mood for dinner at dinner time I made my kids American goulash with smoked beef sausage instead of ground beef. I, instead, had a glass of horchata with chocolate iced coffee protein powder mixed in.
