Meals yesterday- Lunch was an Asian noodle bowl with kelp noodles, peanuts, bell peppers, and cucumber. A hot water soak with a little baking soda is definitely the way to go. Dinner- chicken fajitas -

Because I’m sure no one wanted to see the same vegetable soup for days on end, here’s the other stuff I’ve managed this week. Aside from the soups I really didn’t finish anything else. Eating just takes too much energy! -

The only time my oldest makes an appearance in the living room is when she’s sick and needs comfort. She told me she had “the Covid cough” like last year. Sure enough positive. She’s been wearing a mask anytime she moves around the house but I’ve now got it along with my 10yr old. -

Made stocking cookies with the kids last night. They told me I had an unfair advantage. 😂🤷♀️ Then my oldest thought it would be great to share Covid for a second Christmas season in a row. So protein shakes and soup it is! -

Dinner last night- Italian roasted cauliflower and cheesy salsa chicken. The chicken was okay, no matter how I cook it chicken always seems dry. 😞 And then the kids made gingerbread houses! -

This sounds amazing and like hot and sour soup but spicier with noodles. I make my own hot and sour soup at home when we aren’t ordering Chinese food so I’m sure I could make something similar. -
how did surgery save you money?
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to KimA-GA's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Definitely the not paying the “clothing tax” anymore. Also, no double seats on flights, less in prescription costs, and my personal favorite- better car fuel economy! It’s crazy but instead of filling up every week I fill up every 2 and I’m driving the same amount or more. -

White wine and garlic mussels with artichoke hearts. Ate about roughly half of each (aside from the sauce)… a surprisingly high amount of protein! -

Y’all DO NOT add kelp noodles into just boiled water with baking soda or you’ll end up with peanut noodle soup. 🤦♀️ Lesson learned. At least they were soft…. 🤷♀️ Maybe next time I’ll just use really hot tap water. Also, ate 3 bites and was grossed out so had cereal with a protein shake instead. -

Dinner last night- leftover rolls from thanksgiving, apple butter, and a cheese wedge. Lunch today- a simple Greek salad and a dish made with onions, garlic, mushrooms, northern beans, and pork meatballs. (460 calories, 29g protein) And what everyone wants to see- today’s breakfast! A 1/2 cup skim milk milk in my chai and an Andes mint. 😂 -

Breakfast for dinner last night- 1/2 cup oats, 2tbsp pecans, and 1/4 cup homemade apple butter. The extra water is because I didn’t add enough the first time to the oats. -

And now- a bunch of baked goods that I have absolutely NO clue what to do with. I might try and pawn them off to friends on Facebook! Peanut butter fudge, blueberry crumble cookies, cranberry muffins, mini sweet potato pies, sweet potato pie bars, and a sweet potato pie. My cooking averse oldest even made vanilla whipped cream! -

Cardiac patients?
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Capri81's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m almost 3 years post first WLS (and a little over 2 after revision because of gerd). I have a small PFO and a bicuspid aortic valve (diagnosed while getting cleared for WLS). I have PVCs and SVT in my medical chart due to sepsis from a bowel obstruction. I can’t take metoprolol because my resting blood pressure is too low to support it so I get yearly echos and see my cardiologist twice a year. -

A disaster of a breakfast- bacon egg and cheese omelette that made me physically sick. 135 calories for what I ate prior to it coming back up. Then dinner of leftover stuffed pepper casserole topped with garbanzo beans and fried onions. 396 calories. In between I’ve been testing crispy cookie recipes for snickerdoodles and chocolate chip. The red velvet cookies are a cheat using a boxed cake mix (add 2 eggs and 1/2 cup oil) and Hershey’s cream cheese chips. Annnnnnnd, now I’m onto baking oatmeal scotchies and eventually testing a recipe I’m going to call blueberry cheesecake crumbles (blueberry cream cheese cookies with a blueberry swirled cream cheese frosting then topped with streusel. I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do with all these cookies (currently 13 dozen) seeing as thanksgiving is this week and everyone will be eating pies and such. -

I’m definitely not a Brit but this totally looks like marmite on toast. I’ve only ever had Vegemite (which I love but my kids hate) but I would assume it’s similar. -

After trial and error I found that cutting into cubes then pressing works best. Then, I coat mine in cornstarch, a little untoasted sesame oil and soy sauce then bake at 400 for 20ish minutes. -

The first 2 are freezer meals- sweet and sour chicken ver rice and blueberries (ate all of mine) balsamic chicken pasta (for the kids not me) and then a non-freezer meal- vegan eggs with Anaheim pepper and spinach, blueberries and toast (there were 2 slices but I ate the other before the scramble was ready). Ate it all. -
How long did you drink protein shakes after bypass?
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Mona Ometuruwa's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’m 2yrs out from sleeve to bypass revision and still drink a protein shake most days in my coffee. Do what works for you and is acceptable with your surgical team. -

It just looks like it. The shelf is shaped weird. I think it’s a manufacturer defect as I’ve already replaced a shelf in the fridge, too. -

Also, today was a meal prep day! for kids’ breakfast this week (not pictured, forgot to grab a photo sorry) 10 bacon egg and cheese burritos, 10 sausage, egg and cheese burritos, 10 Canadian bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches, 6 egg and cheese sandwiches, and pancakes. This took about an hour total. freezer meals (pictured in my very disorganized freezer) 2 pepper steaks, 1 beef mushroom roast, 3 stuffed pepper soup, 2 creamy Italian chicken, 2 balsamic chicken, 2 corn lime chicken, 2 sweet and sour chicken, and 2 extra bags of chicken ready for other meals. So 14 dinner meals plus 2 extras which took maybe 2 hours total. I can just dump them in the slow cooker in the mornings and have dinner ready without much effort. Also, an unknown child spilled something in there (I’m thinking blueberries) and by the time I was done and saw it 😒 … It can wait another day.
