Food Before and After Photos
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I like it but don’t buy it often. I think it tastes like a fresher version of feta. It’s more bright and less briny tasting. Used a lot for street corn and street tacos. Mmm -
Allergy meds Post Op?
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Em_Evolves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They gave me my daily allergy medicine post op day 2 in the hospital in pill form so I’ve been taking it every day since. 🤷♀️ -
DON'T WANT TO LOSE MY HAIR, JUST THE WEIGHT
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to LandoLivie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hair goes through 3 phases is growth, one of those is shedding. You’re more likely to shed hair as a body preservation after traumatic events, like surgery. Personally, I didn’t notice any hair loss with my first surgery but I completely shaved my head 3 months after I had surgery. 🤷♀️ However, I am noticing a lot of new hair growth now that I’m almost 2 months out from my second surgery. -

Breakfast was a split in half and toasted whole grain naan round topped with cream cheese and sautéed tomatoes, onions, and green pepper. Ate one half for breakfast and the other later as snack. Including a picture of the naan rounds serving size says 2 for 170 calories but they really remind me of sandwich thins. Dinner was sautéed kimchi, finely diced baby bellas, tomatoes, banana peppers, and spiced marinated (curry, onion, garlic, turmeric powders, soy sauce, and unseasoned rice vinegar) tofu. Ended up eating it all. -
GERD after sleeve Dr said bypass is only option to fix??
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Kikikiki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my VSG in December of 2019. I had a VSG to RNY in August 2020 because of severe GERD that was so bad I was on 3 different acid reducers and a bland diet. I didn’t have reflux issues before my VSG outside of pregnancy. However a pretty bad hiatal hernia with the GERD lead me to choose revision. Two months out, I’m glad I chose the revision because my throat isn’t constantly sore and I’m not chewing 8-12 tums a day anymore. -
Problems with fluid intake
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to BigSue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried tricking your brain with some broth to see if that helps? I had this problem with my VSG and found I could only keep down coffee and grape Powerade zero until I was put on another acid reducer then could do tea and crystal lights again. Hopefully it goes away soon! -
Required PRE Ops Weight Loss
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to sarahredwood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like your NUT should have stressed the weight loss more than just making you feel bad at your last appointment. That said, I totally agree with Hop, low car, low fat, high protein shakes and meals with lots of water will hopefully get you there. -

So for special occasions we get the fancy donuts from them bakery in town that has been around for 80+ years. My oldest turned 15 this month so donuts it was. I’m not regretting my life choices to eat a donut because I have never been a donut fan. But before surgery I’d have eaten the whole thing. (Same donut next to it for comparison.) -
I was a fan of the Syntrax Nectars and Matrix formulas. Try one of the BariatricPal soup based ones or their protein drinks as well. They’ve really helped on days where I didn’t want another protein shake.

Wasa crisps with jarred marinara, sautéed onions, green peppers, cherry tomatoes, and garlic, and then topped with cheese before air frying for 3-4 minutes. My leftovers were claimed by a kiddo. -

I can’t eat eggs now. They make me so sick since my VSG to RNY at the beginning of August. The fried food was definitely a mistake though. -

This is actually the after picture. Was really craving battered fish for like a week. Ate 1/4 of the fish, a battered shrimp, 1/2 a hush puppy, a popcorn shrimp, and a French fry. I need a smoothie after all that grease. 🤢 -

First time posting meals but I did read through almost the first 100 pages of the thread. Let me just say, there was a lot of salad and yogurt... and I plan to continue that trend. 😂 Breakfast was 1/2 cup nonfat plain Greek with 2tbsp peanut butter powder and 1/4 cup frozen berries. Ended up eating the rest for first dinner (5pm). Oh, and no sugar added hot chocolate with a scoop unflavored protein powder (not pictured). Lunch was 1/2 cup cottage with 2 slices roasted turkey slices and sautéed with 1/4c onion, 1/4 cup zucchini some garlic, and some garlic chili sauce. Second Dinner 7pm was a low carb tortilla crusted with shredded cheese blend and dipped in 1/4 cup simply ragu. Ended up eating the whole thing over an hour. -

Please let me know how these are because those Fritos were a favorite snack before WLS. -
Weight can fluctuate up to +/-10lbs a day based on hormones, food, water intake, exercise, and time of day. I wouldn’t worry about it so much. I’m terrible at stepping on a scale more than I should but I don’t let it control how I’m feeling or hinder my progress.

Gastric sleeve post-op dizzy
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Aubrey7373's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine isn’t related to weight loss but aortic insufficiency. I get dizzy from laying down to sitting and sitting to standing. Sometimes I get dizzy just sitting still. I would definitely bring it up to your doctor. -
Developed Diabetes After Surgery

Blood sugars usually always rise 15-20 minutes after a carb laden meal. The test is to see if they remain high after an hour (usually over 160) or are over 100 upon waking. I would keep a log with when you tested and last ate for a week and scheduled an appointment with your PCP for an A1C? -

Is pasta really taboo?
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pasta is a high calorie, practically nutritionally devoid food that will fill your sleeve in place of better nutrient rich foods like zucchini, spinach, mushrooms, avocado (fiber, potassium and healthy fats), and even potatoes (good source of potassium and vitamin c) though they aren’t great. That’s probably the main reason why were told to stay away. Which, to be honest, doesn’t bother me much because I’ve never liked pasta. -
Can hardly eat or drink - UGI x-ray scheduled
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’ve had 4 of the FL UGIs this year. They aren’t terrible but the gastrografin is worse tasting than the barium although neither one is particularly great tasting. If you have issues with vertigo then I would let them know before you begin the testing. They may have you do all the moving yourself instead of using the table options. Good luck. Hopefully they find out what’s going on so you can feel better. -
Weight gain post revision
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to tabbycat's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I went in for my revision on 8/11 weighing 212 and at my week post op on 8/19 I weighed 215. I know it was from fluid because I got 6+ bags of IV fluids in the 4 days post op in the hospital. -
Pressure and Bloat
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to OnMyWay1956's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When I did my pre-op for my VSG I had loose stools and was gassy. When I did my pre-op for my VSG to RNY revision I was constipated and bloated even with the same diet. Some people experience loose stools and lots of gas with a mostly or all liquid diet. Just depends on your body and how it wants to handle things. Hang in there, the loose stools and gassiness didn’t last forever for me, just a few days so hopefully the same for you! -
It’s called dumping syndrome. It’s when you eat something that doesn’t agree with you and can cause fast heart rate, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and other issues for several hours after eating the offending food. I dumped super heavy right after surgery on all ready drink vanilla protein shakes. That was only 3.5 weeks ago and I’m scared to drink them again but my stomach hurts 15-30 minutes after drinking any protein shake or powder now. 😭 Hopefully this isn’t the case forever.

Little Weight Loss on Pre-OP & None Post-Surgery
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to niclovesjustice's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Definitely sounds like IV fluids. I went in for a VSG to RNY revision (hernia and GERD) on 8/11 and weighed 212. I spent 4 days in the hospital on IV fluids. I had my first post op on 8/19 and weighed 215. Just stick with it and trust the process. You will lose weight. -
VSG to RNY due to Gerd
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Slimsoon1988's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a VSG December 2019. In March ended up developing a hiatal hernia and severe GERD. It was so bad I was on protonix, Pepcid, ans Tums for the reflux. I had also developed intractable hiccups esophagitis from the GERD. I had a VSG to RNY on 8/11 so I’m only 3 weeks out. I will say that I don’t remember being in this much pain after my VSG but the GERD is pretty much gone as far as I can tell. Still on the protonix twice a day until I’m 3months post-op.
