Getting rid of old/large clothes - too soon?
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just thinking about this today. I still have loads of 3/4X clothes and am now wearing a L/XL. Even my wrap skirts are too big and they were one of my favorite buys ever. 😭 But on the plus side, if I sell all my bigger clothes I can buy cute new ones! 🤩 -
1 week post surgery and I haven’t lost any weight?
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to wakeupmaggie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Surgery day I was 212. I left the hospital weighing 234 which was 4 days later. At my week post op I still weighed 215. Fluids and swelling will do that. It happens. I know it’s hard but try and stay off the scale for the first month or so. -

It’s a small plastic container that divides them into sections. This is what it looks like without the top wrapper. -

Well, this is definitely and afterthought picture. But this was dinner with a sugar free jello. I think my stomach didn’t like me trying to make oat bran everything bagels earlier. 😬 -
Dry, brittle hair

You might need a different shampoo and conditioner. Maybe call the stylist that suggested your current products and explain what’s going on. They might have a new recommendation for you. -

At my house it’s always soup season. 🥣 -
Have you seen a gastroenterologist? I know bypass messes with the way our internal plumbing works so maybe talk to them. They might suggest a daily stool softener so you aren’t constipated. Constipation can also be a cause of loose stools and vomiting- think overly constipated and impactions can come with seepage. (I was chronically constipated as a kid).

3 weeks post op sleeve gastrectomy
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Bluz2316's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It may seem judgmental but we don’t want you repeating some of our mistakes. I can answer this from both a VSG and an RNY standpoint. High sugar so soon out from surgery is a BAD idea. For example, a couple weeks ago I was 2 months post RNY revision (for GERD) and had 4 bites of a chocolate frosted donut for my daughter’s birthday. To say I felt like I was dying is an understatement. If you don’t want to be spewing from both ends while it feels like you’re running a marathon, I would suggest a different choice. However, if you are craving chocolate I’d suggest sugar free chocolate pudding made with skim milk and extra unflavored protein powder. It’s better for you than an actual piece of sugar filled chocolate and you may find you don’t enjoy the taste of chocolate anymore anyway. -
3 weeks post op sleeve gastrectomy
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Bluz2316's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe you should look at why you want to fuel your body with empty calories. Chocolate will offer you nothing but disappointment and an insulin response. It offers little to no value in protein or fiber. There are so many better options than the fat and sugar bomb that chocolate provides. However, it seems you’ve already made up your mind. Just remember that while one piece of chocolate didn’t lead you to being 3 weeks post-op from WLS, it did contribute to it. Now is your chance to build a better relationship with food and really question why you are craving something and look for alternatives to turning to food for comfort and a serotonin boost that is short lived. -
I think that would be a question for your nutritionist. That being said, I eat turkey bacon on occasion but turkey sausage still has a lot of fat in it. I don’t eat hot dogs so I have no advice on that at all.

I swear I ate. I swear it! The salad was Taylor Farms Roasted Garlic salad kit. It didn’t sit well and I wish it had because the garlic smelled so good! -

I actually cooked it in the air fryer in a personal pizza pan elevated on a rack. I might try again just to be sure. -

The first is imitation crab meat salad made with light Mayo, gochujang, fish sauce, and soy sauce and tossed with orange peppers and kimchi. I ended up eating it over 2 meals and my kids pilfered my leftover nori from the first meal. The second is a weird tart I made from fat free vegetarian refried black beans, cheddar cheese, tomatoes and an extreme wellness spinach tortilla. Ended up eating 3 slices and the rest might go in the garbage because the bottom didn’t crisp and I’m not about to eat soggy tart. 😬 -
I had to get iron while in the hospital post op after my RNY revision because I was so anemic. Took about 2 or so hours for the infusion. If you’re super sensitive to smells you might be able to smell the iron through the bag.... or from my IV infiltrating. Not sure which. 🤷♀️

Anyone sleeve to bypass?
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Christina760's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My sleeve was 12/17/2019. My RNY revision was 8/11/2020 due to severe GERD and hiatal hernia that caused intractable hiccups. Seeing as I was only about 8 months out from my original surgery, I’m still losing weight. -
Sleeve to bypass NOT for weight loss
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Allie_Shannon's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my RNY revision for severe GERD (was causing intractable hiccups) on 8/11 and eat a pretty normal diet now. My portion sizes are definitely small but my sleeve was made into a pouch so I expected that. Very early on I did dump on some weird things though- whey protein blends that aren’t 100% isolate or collagen (not sure of plant-based ones), a couple broth based soups can’t remember which ones, and jimmy dean egg white scramble cups which has made me leery of trying real eggs. All the pain I had post-op is pretty much resolved aside from some random shoulder pain if I skip meals. (Surgeon was super confused! 🤷♀️) As to the alcohol, I don’t drink so no clue what that’s like or when would be ok. -

Made a Gardien ultimate burger with mustard, dill relish, spicy banana peppers, and tomatoes with homemade refried fat free vegan cheesy (nutritional yeast) black beans. The burger was just okay. Should’ve cooked for a shorter time. Loved the refried beans. Based beans off this but added tons of garlic and a small diced yellow onion and 2 cups of vegetable broth instead of water. https://simpleveganblog.com/fat-free-vegan-refried-beans/ Also ended up eating most of the leftovers later on but still ended up scraping some in the trash. -
Eating egg muffin at 6 days Post Op
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to KrissyNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You must’ve missed the first reply which was a picture of what the OP actually ate- an egg muffin or baked egg cup. Lots of people missed that fact because the picture wasn’t in the original post. Turns out you also missed the OP’s reply that she felt terrible after and was in pain but also planned on texting the surgeon to discuss what happened. Berating her and telling her she needs therapy isn’t going to help, just like the enabling won’t. Compassion and empathy go a long way. We were all new to post-op at one point and nothing you can do will truly prepare you for it. Take a deep breath and realize the OP learned a valuable lesson from this. -
I thought I was the only one to bruise like I did. It was so bad I took a picture of it. Half my stomach and wrapped halfway around my back! Took a little over 3 1/2 weeks to finally go away from surgery day.

Post-Op Protein HELP!!
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to teezora's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try blending and straining chicken soup made with bone broth. You can try collagen or egg powders instead of whey protein powders so see if the change in base helps at all. Above all, if the sweet stuff is making you sick or gag then don’t try and force it down, it won’t do you any good. -
I drove to my 1 week post-op appointment. Just gauge it by how you feel and go from there. If you don’t feel comfortable doing it, then don’t.

I followed this recipe using fat free cream cheese and accidentally added a whole scoop of protein powder so added 2 Tbsp of skim milk. I also added the vanilla and a smidge of lemon crystal light along with a 1/4 cup frozen berries. https://theproteinchef.co/low-carb-microwave-cheesecake-recipe-in-2-minutes/ -

Breakfast was cottage cheese with tomatoes, banana peppers, and kimchi Lunch was lightlife Italian sausage. They were good but a little spicier than I thought they’d be. Ended up eating another couple slices later on. Snack was supposed to be a take on kimbap but I think I’ll try again with something other than yogurt because it made it weird for me. My kids ended up eating all but one of the pieces. (Dipping sauce was a mixture of garlic chili sauce, soy sauce, a smidge of honey, sesame oil and oyster sauce.) Dinner was microwave protein cheesecake with berries mixed in. I’m saving the other half for breakfast as it’s 2 servings for the recipe.
