  1. I began this process originally back in October. Due to the up front $, I postponed my appts until after Christmas. I was set to have fast track surgery in early May. I called my clinic Monday since I was scheduled for a follow up appt yesterday morning and I assumed it would be canceled for now. They said no for me to be there at my appt time. It's a 3 hour drive for me to get to my nearest clinic. After that appt, my clinic called to say all elective surgeries have been postponed until further notice. That they would let me know when they opened back up. WHY they didn't tell me while I was there is beyond me. Then right after that phone call today, I got another call from the Pumonary clinic (same hospital different building) saying they wanted to reschedule my appt from March that they canceled due to Covid-19 and wanted to see me next Tuesday for my lung test. I think this test is to see if you can handle anesthesia and also if you need a sleep study for sleep apnea. I'm a little confused why I'm still going on thru the process if the main office is closed until further notice. I feel insane at this point since it's been such a rollercoaster with different departments telling me different things. I have BCBS of MS insurance. I'm worried if it's postponed too long, the tests won't be valid and my insurance won't pay for a second round of testing. Anyone else having conflicting feedback with their processes? If anything it's good to say it to people that may understand my frustration with not knowing if I should be hopeful or prepare for disappointment.
  2. I've lost 13 lbs so far. I still have 3 days of liquids only to go too It's been a good jump start.
  3. I've been on this roller coaster since October. I've been told one thing, then thrown hoop after hoop. Today is the day I'm supposed to get a date finally. Via video call with my dr in 45 mins. I'm honestly just tired of being let down at this point. I know it's all going to happen when it should, it's coming, almost there... (this is what my family keeps telling me) but I'm just ready to know something for sure. Honestly I'm ready for it to be over. My last "we'll set your date at this appointment" was a month ago. I called, got the run around, was transferred to everyone in the building with no one being able to tell me why my latest test results hadn't been read only to finally have someone call me and say "Just keep your follow up appt on the 20th. (today) Follow up for what? 🤪 I was originally supposed to have surgery May 1. It's been a long month. Cross your fingers for me, please!
  4. As of right now I'm finally tentatively set for 6/16! The only issue we're having is insurance requires a weight from 2018 and I didn't ever go to the dr in 2018. I didn't have my current insurance. It was more of a place holder so that I would be "Insured" but it didn't actually cover anything. I was a stay at home mom for 10 years and wasn't ever sick. I'm hoping they'll accept my 8 years of pregnancy logs from my obgyn as proof my weight has been an issue for me. If insurance approves, I go for my education day on 6/10 and pre op on 6/12! Pray for me guys!

    June 2020 surgeries

I'm tentatively set for 6/16. So long as insurance approves.
  6. Oh and to make this whole situation wonderful, when I got there, they acted like they STILL didn't have a clue what I was talking about and had never heard of needing a referral letter. Even though I've called them 5+ times this month. Jesus take the wheel.
  7. After many phone calls, I went to my PCP yesterday to pick up a copy of all of my recent records and test results. They haven't sent anything to my surgeon's office yet. I'm beyond annoyed that I had to fax everything myself. It took less than 5 mins. 4 months to fax something is unacceptable.
  8. No date still My PCP had never sent in my recommendation letter so now we're waiting for that. I originally requested it in February. They said everything was good and they would get it to my Surgeon's office. Never did So after several phone calls, I'm picking it up in the morning.
  9. My close family and a few coworkers know. Mostly the coworkers because they've went through it already and are mostly why I even considered really going thru with surgery. Idk why I haven't told anyone else. I don't feel ashamed of it, but it's still something I feel should be private.

    How Fast is Fast Track

Maybe there's a difference in insurance requirements. The program I went through had a "regular" track of 6-9 months and their "fast" track was 3-4 months. I have BCBS of MS though so it could be due to my insurance.
  15. I live in a very small town in Mississippi. I drive to a "bigger" city for my appts that's 3 hours away. But it's still pretty small. While we're not having an outbreak around me at the moment, I'm still surprised at how disconnected the bariatric clinic seems to be. Some sections are just now totally shutting down for who knows how long (the surgery wing/dietitian/ psych floor) while others have been shut down for a month and are opening back up now. Whackadoodles! 😵
  16. I want to lay out my intro and also not say what I know some of you have already read 100 times. I first understood my weight was more than it should be at 8 yrs old. I spent my teens dieting and mostly starving to keep off the lbs. I got married at 22 and had my first c section at 24 in 2010. Eating for 2 was a dream come true. I ate for the sake of eating and loved every second. I thought I would shed the weight easily after the birth. Nope. I've had three more kinds since then (2012, 2014, and 2016). I have continued to inch up the scale landing me at my current all time highest weight of 320 lbs. After years of trying every diet on the planet with little success, I got serious about not just watching people have surgery on My 600 lb Life, but looking into surgery for myself last summer. I made an appointment with who my co-worker used and went to that initial consultation in October. They threw me a bit off because it was very fast paced if I had the cash. I could have had my surgery in 3 months from the day of my initial appointment. Just needed to pay out of pocket. I can afford bills, but not $300/week with 4 kids and Christmas looming so I tearfully decided to seek out another clinic since they just weren't flexible about how to get me surgery and it not cost me an arm and leg up front. I do have good insurance as a state employee, but apparently it couldn't cover some of their requirements so those are all out of pocket costs. I have now set up an appointment with UMMC (Jackson, MS). My first consultation appointment isn't until March 20 with the potential to be called for canceled appointments to fill in sooner. They faxed me a to do list for my PCP and I went in for most of those tests on Monday. Still waiting to hear results. Anyways, hi! I will be here soaking up information from all of you while I anxiously await my consultation. I know most any of what I know about WLS due to 600 lb life. I've tracked that show since it began. ❤️
