I tried two different mug warmers and they just didn’t work. Now using this hot logic that I found on amazon and love it. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EC7XJ28?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title&th=1

I think the smallest change to my routine causes a slight stall. Takes a few days for my body to catch up. You’ll probably drop 5 pounds over the weekend after a full week of being on your feet more.

Post more pics soon. You’ll probably lose even faster now that you’re back at work.

I was wondering what happened to you!! I have 100% admiration for people who go back to work so quickly. I’m in week 6 and still wouldn’t want to be back at work. So nice that your insurance pays for supplements and super nice that your surgeon has a package. I would be confused trying to take the calcium two hours apart from the multivitamins. lol Thank you for checking in. Speaking for everyone—we missed you!!
  6. Vodka? When was your surgery? I’m dying for a glass of red wine!!

Hi Zyad. During my research I’ve printed out no less than 20 different nutrition guidelines. This is from Brigham and Women’s Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

I think we had our surgery the same day. I didn’t lose a single pound week five. Sunday night lost .4 and Monday night lost .4. That’s why I gave the water with apple cider vinegar a try yesterday and lost two pounds last night. I have a 32oz Bubba cup that I’m using. I put a little ice and 4 tsp ACV, 2 truvia packets and filled it with vitamin water. Even if I don’t lose two pounds tonight I’ll keep drinking it. 🤪

Multi-vitamin 2xday (per my surgeon) I was taking Centrum chewable but found that it has added sugar and not as many nutrients so switched to Opurity by Unjury. Iron - 45mg 1xday (usually at bedtime B12 - sublingual every morning B-Complex - 1xday Biotin-liquid, 1xday Calcium w/D3 - 1xday (usually at noon to not interfere with iron If I start feeling run down or sluggish I take zinc throughout the day. I can definitely feel the difference once the supplements kicked in. I had zero energy the first two weeks but now I’m sleeping regular hours and used to be a horrible insomniac-was so bad that was prescribed Xanax AND Ambien. Took it once and said never again. I want to sleep, not be in a semi-coma!!

My surgeon didn’t tell me to take additional iron. I started taking it because at my medical clearance appt my pcp told me I was slightly anemic. I figure if I was slightly anemic at 228lbs, that wouldn’t get better after surgery so started taking iron and I’m pretty sure that’s what helped with the dizziness.

Around 2 weeks post op I added iron to my supplements and a few days later no more dizziness. Only issue I have now is getting in enough calories. My sleeve seems to be operating like a bypass in that I can barely eat 1 oz of anything at one meal so I’m still relying heavily on protein shakes. Foods I used to love I can no longer eat so it’s tricky. But try to get in your protein and fluids and add iron to your supplements. B-12 definitely helps me with energy.

I used to love having big giant gulps of cold water but find it hard to “sip” plain water. The ice cold water with apple cider vinegar and truvia is actually very refreshing. I said 2tsp acv per 8 oz water but probable more like 1tsp because I add ice. Can’t wait to see if I drop another two pounds overnight. lol

2tsp for every 8 oz. I added ice today and thinking about putting a small amount of Splenda. It’s my new water so I’ll be drinking close to 64 oz. Yesterday I only did about 4 cups. I just want to completely get away from all things artificial and want zero calories in liquids (other than protein shakes) so no more crystal lite.

    January 2020 Surgery Folks

Yesterday I decided to drink water with apple cider vinegar throughout the day instead of crystal lite. Dropped two pounds overnight, versus two pounds in one week. Don’t know if that was the reason, but I’m going to continue. Also started doing this 20 day, full body fitness plan found on My Fitness Pal. My legs were sore when I got out of bed this morning. https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/20-day-full-body-fitness-program/

Hi Zyad. I was prescribed Prilosec 40mg for 30 days and anti-nausea medication. The prescription strength Prilosec is double the dosage of OTC and has really helped me a lot. Dizziness and shortness of breath used to happen to me whenever I was on a diet—same as you it was my body adjusting to lower calories. Beginning of week 6 and I’m still having to use senna tea to have a bowel movement. Constipation is painful and I start feeling sick after two days so I’ve started drinking 1 cup of tea nightly, which produces 1 small BM each morning. I tried the senna syrup but it’s too strong. I want a BM, not diarrhea. Unfortunately stool softeners only caused bloating, no matter how many I took or how regularly I took them. It will get better. I’m finally figuring out what my body needs and wants and feeling healthier. Keep us posted on your progress.

Yea, my babies were what kept me going. Now I have my precious grandchildren and it’s absolutely amazing spending time with them as a grandparent. It’s so funny that the week before surgery my five year old grandson said “MiMi, you have a huge butt.” lol I laughed and said “not for long...”

That must have been a huge relief. I took my ring off two years ago when it started feeling tight and haven’t been able to put it on since. You’re a real trooper to have kept on a tight ring for so long but congrats on taking control of your new life and now being able to put it on and take it off whenever you please. I’m trying on my ring every few days so getting it on will be something to celebrate.

You’re doing fantastic and your excitement shines through!! Keep doing what you’re doing cause it’s working!! Also had my vsg on 1/6/20. Down 21 lbs, which might be considered slow, but not concerned because I haven’t been able to eat much so I’m not exercising yet. Right now I’m just focused on figuring out what I can eat, being balanced and establishing healthy eating and sleeping habits. I’ve talked about the frustrating constipation and it is definitely NO joke. What is your stool softener routine? I just started trying them last week and they don’t seem to do anything for me.

Yes, I’m afraid so. My three are adults now but when my sons were young, food was a huge expense. My oldest is 6’3” and about 320 lbs. Youngest son is 6”5”, size 17 shoe and 240 lbs. They were always big boys with big appetites so I know what you’re saying!!

Speaking of how little we can eat...I love love love how much money I’m saving on food!!! Living in NYC I had become a delivery food junky. Every day was logging on to grubhub to see what’s for lunch or dinner or both. We were averaging $40/day, sometimes more. That’s over $1,000/month on restaurants alone. I deleted all food apps from my phone and am truly loving being in the kitchen trying out the recipes posted here. Thank you peeps!!

Just had 1oz eggbeaters with 1/2oz mushroom, 1/2 oz snow crab and was able to eat it all. Yay!! Full 2 oz in one sitting and no foamy backup for first time in 5 weeks. Today is beginning of week 6 so happy to have found something I can stomach. Thanks to those who mentioned eggbeaters. I don’t like egg whites and still hate throwing out food so couldn’t bring myself to crack an egg and throw away the yolk. Eggbeaters is a great alternative for me. It seems expensive but considering how little I can eat, I feel it will be worth it.

I just bought eggbeaters to try out tomorrow. SarahSingh’s dietary plan mentioned eggbeaters if unable to eat eggs and after two weeks of my sleeve rejecting eggs, gotta try the eggbeaters. Let us know how it works for you.

You’re already eating eggs??!! That’s amazing. At 5 weeks (6 weeks tomorrow) I still can’t eat eggs without immediate restriction. I had sleeve but can only eat as if I had RNY. My son told me to enjoy the restriction while I have it but it’s hard to enjoy it when I’m still only able to eat/drink less than 500 calories a day and my body is basically in starvation mode. Oh well, at least I’m getting my fluids in.

Looks delicious. I’ll have to wrap the bacon on something else. Only two foods I don’t like are Brussels sprouts and cauliflower. lol
