My 4 month follow-up was yesterday. I'm down just over 50 lbs and (according to the numbers) have lost 33% of my excess weight. It's a good feeling, especially when combined with wearing clothes that wouldn't fit at the beginning of the year. Fortunately, my dog keeps me active, even in the lock-down. I do miss going to the gym though, and I'd just gotten into a good workout groove when everything came to a grinding halt. The people I see at work keep telling me "you're melting away" and my wife is very encouraging as well, so I've got plenty of support thankfully, but I know I've still got work to do. The biggest goal I have right now is to get under 250. I'm only about 7 lbs away. That will be a big day for me. The only real struggle I have post-surgery is the uncomfortable "heaviness" feeling that comes when I eat beef or chicken. I'm told this is a normal thing and could last a while, so I'll continue to put up with it and/or avoid the steak and chicken breasts. Hope ya'll are all doing well.

Congrats on the awesome job! As of last week I'm down just over 50lbs. Been in a stall (normal, I know - still a little frustrating) but still feeling good about my progress. The next milestone I'm excited for is to hit under 250 - that will be a big one for me. I'm wearing clothes I haven't even looked at in years which is cool. It's funny, looking at the mirror I don't see a lot of progress by my co-workers and my wife all insist how obvious it is. I'm ok with this. Keep rocking it, guys and gals. And stay safe out there.

I'm in the beginning of my 6th week. . .and I've hit another stall - or at least a significant slowdown. The scale is still moving down, but the speed at which the weight is dropping has nosedived. Still, any progress is a good thing. Current weight is 273. I was really hoping to get under 270 for my weigh in, but my surgeon assures me I'm right where I need to be, progress wise. I hope you're all doing well!

The 3rd week stall is a real thing. My weight loss went from rocket speed to turtle slow seemingly overnight. And then a week later it had picked back up. I don't think I was doing anything different - I guess the body just has to make its adjustments. Stick with your plan, don't be down on yourself, and avoid the scales for a few days - I had a bad habit of checking my weight every other day for the first couple weeks just because I was excited to see the number dropping. . .sticking with once a week now - much better in the long run mentally.

Thanks very much! My routine is pretty simple - I take Colace in the morning after my multivitamins, and at least 1 packet of Benefiber in the afternoon (depending on what I've eaten that day perhaps 1 in the evening too). Miralax as needed (maybe 2x per week for me right now? Down from daily immediately after sugery - which my surgeon suggested/required). Hope this helps!

Alright, I'm not posting as much as many of ya'll, but I'm still around and reading - kudos to all of you for the hard work! Progress update on this end: Surgical date: 1/6/20 (VSG) - weight 310.5. Weight check this morning was 275.6. YEAH BABY! The hardest thing for me has been finding things that don't leave my stomach feeling "heavy" (I don't know how else to describe it). I'm doing lots of soup/stews and eggs (which are easy for me fortunately). Without getting too graphic let me suggest everyone stay on top of their fiber supplements. Constipation is NOT fun. For those struggling, stool softeners will be your friend. Continued good luck to you all!

Well, the 24 lbs includes the week or so before my procedure when I was on the prep diet, but still, I'm glad if my progress has motivated you! Keep at it!!

Ok - 2 week post-op visit was yesterday. Down 24 lbs since my last weight check a few days before surgery, so 24 lbs in 26 days. Not bad at all. The NP was happy with my weight progress and my healing. They said I could go back to work on Monday, but I'm not good staying at home, so I'm back at it today. So far, so good.

Now, I'm only about 2 weeks out, so I've been somewhat limited in my intake, but I haven't noticed any dumping syndrome like issues - that said, I can definitely IMMEDIATELY feel it if I take in too much at once (like the one time I took a large gulp of water out of habit - oh boy that wasn't fun)

Doing well on both. I've got a fluid intake sheet I'm tracking ounces on to make sure I don't get dehydrated. The clinic sent me home with copies. The easiest thing I've done for tracking is buy some mini red solo cups (for shots I guess). They each hold 2 ounces, which gives me an amount to drink I can handle and track easily without any real effort.

Energy level starting coming up some today. I get out of the house to walk the dog around the neighborhood a few times each day - longest walk since the surgery was around 30 minutes. Most are 15 or so. I'm doing jello, yogurt, pudding, and broth mostly, with some protein shakes too. And lots of hot tea - I need something besides cold foods all day. . .

I'll tell ya, the first couple days were NOT fun. Between the gas pains and the incessant hiccups (REALLY pulled at my internal stitch) I was uncomfortable. I woke up yesterday and felt like I had turned the corner. YAY! Energy level is still WAY below normal - which is expected - but my pain is minimal, gas pain is gone, and hiccups are almost gone and don't last more than a minute or two when they happen. Thanks for asking. Hope you're doing well also.

The Swedish Metabolic and Bariatric Center has a support group that gets together a few times a month that might make a great starting off point for you to meet people. I'll be heading to a meeting in the near future (just had surgery this week).

Little late to the party (my buddy who had his VSG a couple years ago told me about the site just yesterday) - my surgery (VSG) was on 1/6 - this past Monday! Done at Swedish in downtown Seattle with Dr. Sarah Martin del Campo.
