  1. Well, here is my update. I had lost as much as 15.5 lbs at one point, but TOM destroyed that.:crying: I am now hanging out in the 294ish range, fluctuating sometimes up to 297. So that makes the total right now about 14lbs. It scares me that I may go up past 300 again so I am trying really hard. But I get my first fill next Tuesday so that should help a lot!

WOW!! Everyone looks like they are doing great!!! Congratz and keep up the good work!!!
  5. Congratz on getting your fill!! No word yet from the district, but my DH said that the problem may be that they have to go through so many channels to get me hired.
  6. I'm going in on the 19th for my fill. Haven't heard from the school, maybe tomorrow. It's either Liberty or Horizon Elementary. They will decide which.
  7. Good luck with your fill dear!!!!

    God.....Lapband.....Boats

So many people have health problems. And there are so many ways to deal with them. If I had a heart problem and a pacemaker would fix it, would I refuse? Like in your story I believe that God gives us tools to help us along our way. We can't expect huge miracles for problems that could be solved with a tool, hard work and faith. When my husband and I were discussing me getting the lapband, he said "I don't think that God would have someone make a tool and then not have us use it". I pray that you will have guidance at this time of decisions!!!
  9. like I said, some days I get in enough, which is about 800-1200. But days like today I resort to the liquid calories just to get them in. I have read that 800-1200 calories help you stay out of starvation mode and help you lose.
  10. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!:w00t::wub::w00t::w00t: I am still very excited!!! The interview went VERY well, and they said they will let me know TODAY!!! I think that means I got it!! The school year starts on the 25th so i will still have plenty of time to get my first fill from Dr. K. YAY!!! BTW, I am having some weird stuff going on. Some days I can eat almost anything in sight, and some days I can barely get in my protein, let alone my calories. Sometimes I have a scoop of protein powder in ice cream so that I can get both in without making my stomach hurt:crying:. I just don't feel like eating, which is a good thing. But I am worried about getting into bad habits with eating bad foods just to get in my calories. Any suggestions?
  11. I am so excited!! I have an interview for a job at an elementary school to be the music teacher!! I am still in school, but all this district was requiring is a high school diploma and the ability to teach a basic music class. My interview is in less than 2 hours!! YAY!!!! I just had to let some excited energy out!!! Thanks for letting me babble!!!
  12. I didn't think of an exercise goal. Put me down for 30min x 5 days.
  13. You can put me down for 10. I am definitely in bandster hell though. I gained 5 because of TOM:cursing: and lost only 2 of it. Really trying to get all my protien and calories in. I do my exercise but I suppose I could up it a bit. Back to eating almost normally again(whick means too much).:wink2: Maybe I should revert to the preop diet again...I lost 9 then. That might help my scale get moving again. Trying to not let the mood swings control me and it seems to be getting better.

    Any willing mentors in SLC?

I am getting banded next month and am hoping for someone I can contact with my random questions, and share my insecurities with. I live in SLC.
  15. They should send you a list of the foods not allowed. I was worried that my liver would not shrink enough so I actually did no carbs and no sugar at all. I lost 9lbs in 10 days. Ask the office to email you the list.

    Any willing mentors in SLC?

Actually I am finding that it is about the same amount of money to go to my surgeon for fills as it is to get one here. I haven't been able to find anyone who does them for less than 185. I can get cheap plane tickets, and my surgeon does fill for free the first 3 months and after that they are only $15. So I may end up finding someone cheaper, but if they are around the same price I would rather have my surgeon do it. I am looking forward to regaining control of my life as well. Thanks!!
  17. Ah, I see. Yours is very different than mine. But I suggest eating very slowly and choosing low calorie things to eat. Something like celery is a good thing to fill you up and is very low in calories. There are only 10 in half a cup. I would drop the burgers, onion rings and Pasta. Veggies and fruit seem to be the best low calorie things to eat. it may help you to spread them throughout the day too. Here is a link so that you can look up the nutritional values of the natural foods. food Statistics C Good luck with your diet!!
  18. Well, I guess the first thing to ask is what has your surgeon told you that you are allowed to eat? I know for my perop diet I was going for very low carb and no sugar. But I could have as much as I wanted. What has your surgeon said is the goal of your preop diet?

I would definitely listen to your surgeon. Take it easy and let your body heal. If you are feeling ambitious take a long walk. You might call your surgeon and let him know how good you are felling again. If he says to let things settle longer than I suggest following his advice. Good luck!!

    Breakfast trouble

I have always had trouble making myself eat breakfast. Now it's even harder because I have no appetite. I have actually been sitting here this morning thinking that I really need to at least drink a shake, but I just am NOT feeling it this morning. I know I have to get in calories and protein, but I am experiencing non-hunger and am actually quite enjoying it. Just wanted to say that you are not alone in your feelings

    Missed period after surgery?

Mine came late. I was supposed to start on the 18th-ish, but it just started on the 27th. i was banded the 16th, so i'm kinda glad I was late.
  22. I am having the worst mood swings!!! :cursing:My poor DH is the best man in the world I SWEAR!! One minute I am laughing :lol:and the next I'm crying my eyes out:crying:!! I wonder if I should go on birthcontrol to help with the hormones, among other things. They are really bad. Anyone else get the killer mood swings?:cursing::thumbs_up::cursing::lost1lbs::cursing::thumbup:

    Yes! We're a Forum!

Hi! I saw this new group and I thought "that is me!" Well, I'm not too much of a "gig" girl, my focus is more on teaching. I am a student at our local community college, studying music, hoping to teach eventually. For now, I just teach voice and flute lessons from home. I LOVE IT!! I also just saw a posting for a job at a local school district hiring a music teacher for two elementary schools in the area. I am going to drop off an application today, as they do not require a teaching degree, just a high school diploma. They pay about 10.50 an hour which would be GREAT for me, and it is part time so I can still go to school. I guess that is one good thing about fine arts budget cuts, they can hire students!!

First Post - Angry About Lap Band.

I wanted to address a few of your questions. I actually had a quite easy time finding my doctor, and he was the only one I spoke with. I did extensive research about the procedure and the side effects. The lap band itself is made to be permanent. However there are cases where it needs to be removed due to erosion. Men tend to lose weight faster (and it seems, easier) than women do. Go to the mens lounge and ask some questions of the guys! I believe that the majority of the members on this forum are women. I don't think that there is a specific reason for this other than the fact that there are more women than men period, and that women have a very difficult time with weight. Most moderate exercise will NOT cause the band to slip, however with the research I have, some are told to avoid heavy lifting for a time, something to discuss with your doctor. We are very much encouraged to exercise, and frequently! I can't help with this last one as I live in the west. I hope this helps a bit!! Good luck!!

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

Be careful of going too low in calories- it will put your body in starvation mode, and you will stop losing. 800-1200 is a good goal. Try hard to get in your calories for the day. I know it's a struggle but it will help!!
