    Just got banded yesterday

Hang in there! I am impressed that you are able to be online and post the next day!

    VERY tight band

Personally, I would go back and have them remove some. You do not want to be miserable and you want to be able to get the correct nutrition. Also, when you are too tight, you could stay swollen because everything you drink causes your stomach and band to work harder than they need to.
  3. They put it in my IV. It made all the difference in the world. I wish I knew what it was called.....
  4. Wow lcwils01, sounds like the second doc was kind of a weenie huh? I would stay far away from him for sure. Always demand respect! I am sorry if I missed it, but did you ask your surgeon for a bump up in your next fill date? Did you explain the troubles you are having? He must have his reasons for the wait in between fills...but I agree that they aren't very flexible or accommodating. That is a long wait, especially when you are battling your appetite! Hang in there...we all have the 'hurry up and wait' syndrome. We get so excited about the surgery that afterwards we are like..."Hey, is this it?" gentylwind, say Hi to Allen for me. I went to HS there many many many many (ok not that many) years ago.
  5. I get nauseous from it as well. They gave me medicine to help, not just antacid. It makes you very sleepy, which is what you will need anyways.

What FINALLY made you decide to get banded??

Mine was HBP and diabetes. Plus, I was depressed and feeling older than I should.

    Metal taste in mouth

Do you take a daily vitamin? Sometimes it leaves a metal taste in my mouth.

    What's for Dinner Tonight?

Sounds yummy! What kind of lettuce did you use?
  9. Thank you for sharing. I just watched the video. The big plus is that there are no incisions, the drawback (when compared to Lapband) is that there is no adjustments available. I am guessing it is reversible? Not sure. Also, I would worry more about stretching the pouch (like bypass folks can) Very interesting though!
  10. Hang in there, your body has to reset it's metobolic rate again. I haven't lost in about 2 weeks either but I know that eventually it will break past that plateau and start going down again. Just takes patience and time.

    Drinking with straws?

My doc just suggests not using them immediately after surgery. I can use them now if I wanted, but I swallow too much air. I am a Belching Fiesta!
  12. Yup, you absolutely can lose weight in your feet. I actually walked right out of a pair of shoes at work on Friday! I will be giving those shoes to charity along with most of my clothes :w00t::D
  13. Are there any long timers that tracked their weightloss over the months/years and would be willing to share their data with us? I think that there are some misconceptions about how much weight we should be losing and people are easily disappointed when they are actually doing a great job! I am hoping that your data would help show how this process is long-term and how it takes time for it to come off! Come on...I know there are some big losers out there!

First Fill!!! After almost 9 weeks....

I am so glad you had an easy fill! Take it easy with eating for a few days, you never know when the band is going to kick in.

Yes, just had surgery with them. They are very professional and the hospital the surgery is performed in is wonderful. Only bit of advice is that if you are seeing Dr. DiMarco is bring a book because he is always VERY late. (once it was 3 hours!)

    Any regrets?

Hi Hope! There are a few threads on this topic, this one being the more recent I can remember. You can 'search' on the word regret and get all kinds of information. I am extremely happy with the band, only regretting not having it done sooner. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f178/any-regrets-79318/?highlight=regret
  17. Definitely the mornings and I too find myself tighter in the evenings. It seems I have this 'window' in the afternoon where I can eat something. By 'throwing up' do you mean 'bringing up' food that is stuck in your esophagus? Sometimes I just cough and it comes out. If you are regularly "throwing up" you should see the doc.
  18. Dried apricots. Never again.
  19. Ahhhhh, nice use of the smilies!! :tea:

    Wanted: Loser!!

Thank you so much for sharing! So, I imagine the newly banded folks complaining "I only lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks" must really fire you up.
  24. After a real bad sliming episode I was very sore for a couple of days. No worries, just take it easy!
