Glad you are doing so well!!! About feeling the water travel through your system -- the discomfort will definitely get better, but I still feel everything I eat going down (feels super weird)... anyhow, congrats and feel better soon! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327AZ using BariatricPal mobile app -

Cramping after surgery
breavsg replied to Slimmy-mommeee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, what you're describing sounds very normal. Just take it slow, about a one ounce cup of water every 15 minutes. It made me nervous too because of the intense pressure in my chest after every sip, but it will get better each day as the swelling goes down. Don't be afraid to take your pain meds, they'll help you feel better so you can walk (which will also help a ton). Remember, you just had a major surgery! My team suggests cheerios soaked in skim milk during the soft phase, then they say to drink the milk afterwards as you would other fluids. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327AZ using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi Michael! Seems like you're doing well!! My surgeon told me for the first week or two to mainly focus on hydration and not to worry too much about the protein shakes, so I'd maybe ask yours about how many you have to drink the first couple weeks. I also did bruise around the same incision as you did, and it still healed well (I think it's just bruised from the stomach coming out of it during surgery). As for going number 2, I think I was about 6 days out when I was finally able to go. Remember you've only been taking in liquids so it's not too unusual but if you need definitely take a stool softener or laxative. Best of luck! I was actually going to ask my doctor about this, as I used to take it for foot pain. I assume it might be tough on our pouches though, similar to an Nsaid maybe? I'm only 6 weeks out from surgery so I don't plan on trying it out yet but maybe down the road so I'm curious if anyone has experience. As for the effects I'm sure they're the same if you got the sleeve not sure though with rny Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327AZ using BariatricPal mobile app

Its sort of a stomach pain, feels like pressure in your chest as water tries to go down and air tries to get out at the same time. It gets much better around day 4 ish when the swelling starts to go down Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327AZ using BariatricPal mobile app

breavsg replied to Chas74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did they send you home with an incentive spirometer? The thing that you blow in? Using that a couple times an hour should help to clear your lungs and get things moving to make it easier to breathe, but I would definitely make a call to your surgeon to make sure everything is ok Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327AZ using BariatricPal mobile app -
