Hi...still researching :D
mom2twins replied to limelight's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was shocked when me doctor told me I needed the lapband at my first appointment. I hadn't heard about it before (been out of country for a few years) and it totally scared me. My hubby is very disapproving of my weight so I was even more anxious about telling him. He was so upset he didn't know what to do or say so he found this website and told me to check it out. Since then we have both learned a lot, and been to a seminar together. I read the book "Weightloss Surgery for Dummies" and "Lapband for Life". They were both very informative and helped me understand what was going to happen. Once you get enough information you will know if this is right for you or not. I have been overweight most of my life and the since I had my babies (9years ago) it has only gone up. Good luck to both of you and keep checking the post here and even look into the areas of problems, diet, and post-op forums. They can give you alot of insight also. -
i gave in and weighed myself LOL..
mom2twins replied to armywife4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once again you guys have helped me talk myself out of buying a scale for the house. I have only weighed myself at the gym and doctors for years. I am so scared taht if I buy one I will be on it almost as much as I am on this web site now. Congrats on al the weight you guys have lost and hopefully I will soon be able to see my ticker start moving that direction. -
I had a bigger wider seat that I got at Walmart for my bike. Since I have a bigger bottom it was a better fit for me, and not too expensive. Once you loose some of your size you can always change the seat back to the original one.

I have decided not to tell my family for all of those reasons. I told one lady at church and she gave me the "your not that big" comment, however she has never had to get off a roller coaster because she didn't fit into the seat. My mom-in-law has been my big supporter outside of this site, and she has not said anything negetive to me at all. I also hate the one "have you tried going to the gym" everytime I go to the gym I end up gaining more weight than I loose. Everyone keeps telling me it is muscle, but at 250 pounds and walking 1 to 2 hours every day I should loose a little because you don't gain that much muscle walking in circles. Good luck everyone!

I got my insurance approval and a surgery date this afternoon. I am going to get the band on Aug 11th. I have been posting it everywhere that I can. I didn't realize how good it felt to know when it is going to happen. I know it is a big change for my life and my family to go through, but it is going to help my girls to learn to eat better. I can't wait to not be the fat mom at all the school events with my girls. I keep thinking that I need to buy a scale for the house, but then again I don't want to be obsessed with what the numbers are saying over what my clothes and body is saying. I guess it will work it self out in time. Later, :smile2:

Thanks for the idea. I haven't had no bake cookies for a long time. I love them so much. My girls will still be getting them after I am banded, and I never eat very many of them (ya right). I think it has been a year or more since I made the last batch. I've been trying to eat a little differently since I decided to make the appointments to get the band.

I just got my surgery date this afternoon. I am scheduled for August 11th. My surgeon is only asking for 1 day of pre-op diet but I think I will try to add a few more for my own benefit. It won't be fun but I have read the reason behind others doing a longer pre- op diet and think it is a good idea. I have 2, 9 year old girls and they are very high maintence. I can't wait for school to start once again. I just moved to Texas this Spring and have not made any friends here in the new town yet, but I am hoping that will change soon. After being out of the country for a few years it is a big adjustment coming back again, but I am so glad to be back in USA.

I went to TICKERFACTORY.COM and just followed their directions. When it came to putting the ticker into the signature block for this site I got confused. What I finally got to work was to right click on the ticker on the other webpage, and copy. Then I went to the signature update page and pasted it in my signature block. That was the only way I could get it to show up. Good Luck

I just got my date today. I get the band on Aug 11th. I'm a little bit nervous but this site is big help.

I think this is going to be a front runner. I love the graphic in the signature blocks. -
Does Anyone Eat Full Fat Products Such As
mom2twins replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would rather cut the quantity of the food than to substitutethe chemical stuff. Before they started altering all of our food with a chemical equalivant to the real thing we didn't seem to have the "growing" health problems we see today. I can't help but think that most of the new and improved stuff they do to our food is adding to the health problems. just my opnion -
Panic Attacks with the Lab-Band! HELP!!!
mom2twins replied to Stella_Eterna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Give Jack's advice a few days. After the band we all have to relearn how to eat (the right way). When a baby learns how to walk it is one step (bite) at a time. They do not start off going across the room (a full meal). If they fall the very first time they are more causious and that is where you are. If you just start with one or two bites, and then go to the liquid for the rest of the day and then go to three or four bites for a few days it won't be long until you can help retrain your body to the new feelings that you are having. Remember you did not learn to eat overnight in the first time around when you were a baby either. -
Hey to everyone!! I am currently in Abilene TX @ Dyess. I hope to never move again. Hubby has over 21 years in, and we grew up in OKC just outside of Tinker. We have been making regular trips up there (if you want to try to get together Lisa) since we are only 5 hours from home for the first time in over 20 years. I just got my approval for the band and need tog et ahold of the doctor office to see what I have to do next. Great to meet everyone!

this has been a very busy month so far. I have been out of state for over half of the last 13 days and most of June. My mom had been sick and now has a blood clot in her leg that is really big. She has a pace maker and that makes everything even more dangerous when it comes to her blood. I will be making a few more trips back to see her and help her again this summer. On the other hand it got me awayfrom the computer and trying to get the insurance approval and everything. When I got back this afternoon I found the insruance approval was done on the 10th, so I get to call the doctor tomorrow and find out what is next on the list. I really want to get this done before th egirls go back to school so that they can be there with daddy when I have surgery and not be worried at school. Plus I want ot be able to go with them for their first day of school and the meet the teacher things. OK, guess that is enough for this one. I'm not sure what I am feeling tonight. Excitement, stress, fear, ?????

What was the straw that broke the camel's back for you?
mom2twins replied to southerngirl24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like some of the others in high school I was very active, swim team, band, and drill team. I wasn't skinney, but hey I was no way fat at all. In the military I even had perfect numbers (34, 23, 36) and could fit INSIDE the wing of a c-130 aircraft. Now I don't even fit on a roller coaster or inside a airplane seat. When I skipped out on a field trip to the zoo with my girls because I didn't want to embarass them in front of their new friends I finaly realized that I need whatever help I can get from the doctor. I may never be a size 5 again, but I can't wait to be able to buy clothes ina the regular sizes again. -
Hey banders, I am looking for books that have exercises that will be good for helping gain tone after getting the band. I got my approval this weekend and would like to get a book and start some o fthe exercises before I even get the band so that I will be ready. I really don't want to just know that I will have to get a tummy tuck if I can help by doing some simple exercises instead. Any suggestions of titles will be greatly appreiciated. Thanks,

I love the blueberry bannana smoothie with a shot of protien. It will soon be a favorite of mine. My kids love to go there, so I too was glad to see that they have something I can have also (on a special occasion)

Did/Do you have to do a pre-op enema?
mom2twins replied to zeama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congratulations on your banding. I don't know if I will be required to have the enema or not. However I do know that when I had a surgery while i was pregnant and they couldn't put me completely under I did not have one, and needless to say when the doctor came over to start the procedure she yelled for "someone to come and clean up this mess" and from where she was standing I can imagine what it was. With the surgeon having all the little holes open to your gut, it would not be a bad idea to not introduce all those grems into the air while you cannot control your bodily functions. JMO -
Will I ever be able to lose the weight?
mom2twins replied to mandi78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I do feel for you and know that it is hard to resist food at times. My girls gave me hell the other day and I wanted to eat something really bad, however not having it in the house it was easier to not eat anything at all. If I could have found something chocolate or a hot cheeseburger at midnight in the oven I would have gobbled it down without a thought. Maybe if you make the food not as available and you have to go out of the way to get it you will have time to tink twice or at least calm down before you indulge. Everything I have read about the band says that vomiting is the worst thing you can do for your body and your band. best wishes to you, -
thanks I added this site to my favorites.

HELP PLEASE ... I need some advice!!!
mom2twins replied to Heatherooni's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is perfectly ok to switch to a sugarfree cream pie. You could even make it together (simple with Jello pie and pudding mix and sugar free coolwhip). It is not so much the item that will keep the tradition but the action of serving the dessert or making it with them. you can still decorate the pie with happy birthday, just use cool whip or one from a can. OH, Happy Birthday! -
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You must have great patients to keep it up after being stuck for 2 years. Good luck with the next 40 pounds.

over a week since my appointment and they still haven't sent the request to the insurance company for approval. it really makes me mad that they don't care. I understand that they have to go on vacation but make sure your paperwork is done before you leave, especially when it affects other peoples lives. I never felt very big until I started research on the band, and since then I am very aware of how big I truely am. I have even stopped going to a buffet because I don't like the thought that people may be watching the fat lady at the feeding bin. once she does get back from vacation I have to make sure i call before they start seeing patiants or they can't even talk to me then because they are too busy. This is starting to get to me. Maybe I should see if there are any other surgeons in the area that can do this if they are this busy even before I get the band done. I am so confused.
