Anxiety through the roof! Help!
rene50 replied to Anxious_mumma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved just two weeks ago and totally understand how you are feeling. I experienced anxiety before and even the next day though I was told everything went smoothly and the surgery lasted only 35 minutes. I think it is normal. Try to think about the healthy, thin you and all the fun things you are going to enjoy with your little girl! As far as it being a hard road, I can honestly say it hasn't been for me. I was in the hospital only one night, even though I was told to plan for two. I had very little pain, really just soreness when I sat up or sat down. I was up walking 3-4 hours after surgery, and I walked and walked until I was released at 8PM the next evening. I have followed all directions and haven't even experienced any nausea. I know it is different for each person, but don't worry too much about about the recovery issues because they subside quickly. Follow all of your medical team's instructions and you will be just fine. You got this! -

Oh, goodness! I sure hope the constipation, nausea, dizziness, shortness of breath, and fast heart rate all go away soon . That's a lot to deal with. 😬 -

Sounds like you are doing great! Hope that allergic reaction doesn’t happen again, sounds terrible. Thanks for sharing and I hope you’ll let us know how your appointment goes. 18 pounds! Awesome 👏 ! -
I'm using Genepro and I really like it. You only have to use a small scoop to get 30 grams of protein and only 59 calories. I tried Isopure, but you have to use more to get 30 grams of protein and it is 112 calories.

Hang in there! It will get better. I'm still on liquids too, but will start purees on Thursday, which will be day 17 post-op for me. Do you have any protein powder? It sure makes a difference. I add it to soups thinned with Fairlife milk, or broth, and it is very filling. Find some soup that you really like, for me it it is Carrot Ginger and Tomato with Roasted Pepper from Trader' Joe's, thin it down with broth or milk, add some protein powder, and maybe that will help. I blend mine in Magic Bullet before warming. You've got this, girl!

Thanks, guys. I'm not drinking the protein shakes anymore. Ick! However. I'm sure I will use them in a pinch when I go back to work. I do like the Genpro protein powder mixed in soups and yogurt. I'll be looking forward to the energy. -

So, this is going to sound crazy, but I'm not so sure I'm looking forward to moving on to pureed foods on Thursday (day 17). I seem to finally be in my groove now with the liquids! Ha! I'm quite satisfied to drink a cup of soup or broth with protein powder, or drink some greek yogurt thinned with Fairlife milk. Will moving to pureed, then soft foods, then regular, reactivate my former appetite? I know, I know, I told you it was crazy. I'm just worried. I've only felt hungry once, and today, I had to make myself drink some soup. I'm reaching my protein and water goals. I read about all of you eating these itsy bitsy meals and I wonder how in the heck I'll get a minimum of 60g of protein and if I will feel satisfied as I do now. AND I've lost 14 pounds, so I'm a happy girl! -

Glad to hear all went well with the scrambled egg. I know what you mean about feeling like a pile of goo. I've been doing some light yoga this week, and that's made me feel better. -

I have a sleeve and I'm not having any problem or restriction getting liquid down. I can easily drink 8 ozs in 15-20 minutes. I won't start pureed until Friday, so I'll see how that goes. -

The recipe sounds good! However, something about pureed chicken just makes me go ewww, but not pureed sounds yummy.. Next week, I'll be trying it, though. -

That sounds very similar to my pre-op recommendations. We are still posting in a pre-op thread because that's where we started, but all the January folks are now post-op, so we're moving through the different stages. Hope all goes well with your surgery! -

That looks yummy! I'm drinking tomato soup with protein powder thinned with skim milk. It is really good tomato soup with roasted red peppers from Trader Joe's. -
Congrats! You should brag away–you've earned it !!!

I'm 11 days post-op and I just looked at my nutrition numbers on My Fitness Pal for the last 7 days. I've averaged 453 calories daily and 61 grams of protein daily. Does this seem about right? I thought my protein average would be higher, but I fell short one day with only 40 grams, so that brought the average down. How many calories/grams of protein are you eating/drinking? -

Today I felt hunger for the first time in 10 days! Dangit! I was hoping it would never come back. I was out running around most of the day, stopped by a friend's house for lunch (I brought my own soup to sip), ran errands, and by the the time I got home 6 hours later, I was hungry, not head hunger, but in my tummy. It kind of scared me, if you know what I mean. Oh no, I thought, the hunger is back. But, to my pleasant surprise, after sipping about 1/2 cup of soup with protein powder, it was completely gone! When did you first feel hunger, or have you yet? -

I know the swelling is crazy! I told my husband that I went in for weight loss surgery and came out looking fatter! LOL! I think my swelling is gone, but from the picture, it looks like you still have a bit. -
