January 2020 Surgery Folks

No, it doesn't matter, you are right, of course. I was just happy to fit in my 16's and thought it would be nice if someone noticed. -

Woo hoo, Sarah! Gotta love that. My husband and my best friend have noticed, but people I didn't tell about the surgery don't seem to notice anything yet. My niece keeps looking at me and making comments about how good I look, comments on my blouse, my pants, etc., but I don't think it's dawned on her yet that I've lost weight. I didn't tell her because she's such a big mouth and thinks she has to post every little thing on FB. -

Hmmm?? I'll see if I can change that, but I meant the stats under my initial. -
What is a girl to wear?
rene50 replied to Tiredmimi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took a thin robe and a pair of Birkenstock sandals which is what I wear as house shoes at home. I did wear the robe over my hospital gown when I was up walking around. -

Everyone is doing great! Are people who don't know you had surgery commenting on your weight loss yet? I thought for sure someone would say something at church today, but nope. I can tell for sure because I can wear clothes I haven't been able to wear in a few years. I was wearing an 18, and sometimes a 20, and now I'm wearing a 16. I guess that's just not that big of a change for people to notice, but it is to me! My stats are up to date on my profile. -
I can understand your reaction since it was drilled in your head to avoid caffeine, then they sell you a protein powder with caffeine. Very confusing.
-
Did the physicians in the hospital offer any clue to what caused the bleeding? My surgeon doesn't prohibit caffeine, rather says a small amount is okay. I would definitely get a clarification from your surgery team and try to find out if caffeine was the culprit. Sorry you had to go through that! I know it must have been very scary for you and quite perplexing since you had followed all post op rules.

It all depends on what diet your surgeon advised. Are you still on liquids, on purees or soft food? I've had a few hungry days too. -

Welcome. I had VSG surgery on Jan. 27th too! I just started purees Friday and so far, so good. I've had scrambled egg, refried beans with mashed avocado, broccoli cheese soup, and pureed sweet potato with protein powder. For the last two days I've had a green smoothie with protein powder and I really think that's helped my energy. I've lost 19 pounds so far, but I know the stall is coming....I think everyone experiences it around weeks 3-5. -
Thanks so much for posting this! I had not heard that WLS patients experience more dental problems. Sorry you have to have an expensive tooth implant. It's very concerning especially since you have good dental health—brushing, flossing, regular check-ups. I just read an article and it didn't offer a clear cut reason for dental problems but mentioned many contributing factors: vomiting, reflux, frequent meals, vitamin deficiencies, and gummy vitamins.

Feeling like there was lump of clay in your chest/stomach sounds terrible. I was a "scarfer" too, so I'll really have to be mindful. Did you throw up, or did it eventually go down? -

It is so weird to me that I have had zero problems drinking my 64 ozs + of water each day, and now that I'm eating a tiny amount of pureed food, I'm struggling to get in my water. I'm wayyyy behind for the day, only 24 ozs! Why is that? -
For me, it was much better 3-4 days after, but really, it wasn't completely gone for 10 days. I laughed that I had surgery because I was fat, and after surgery, I came out looking fatter! 😆It gets better!

Today is my first day on purees. Yay, finally moving to the next stage! I thought the first day of purees was going to be yesterday, but recounted and it wasn't until today. My first meal was 1/2 scrambled egg whisked with Fairlife milk and it was delish, experienced no nausea and it filled me up, which is absolutely amazing to me. It looks like such a tiny amount in this "big" 7 oz ramekin, but I wanted to see what my new normal portion looked like in a regular sized dish. For lunch, I'm going to try refried beans with a little smashed avocado (thanks Uomograsso) and protein powder. -

Three days! 😳 I don't care if you do work from home, that's awesome that you were able to get back in the groove so quickly. -

YOU ARE AMAZING! Already back to work! That must be very hard and I'm sure you are zomie-like when you get home, but you are doing it and working your plan.😅 I go back to work Monday, so I'll probably be joining you in Zombieland. Get some rest, girl, and thanks for letting us know how you're doing. 😘 -

Ya'll are all ahead of me. I still have a few more days of liquids. I mentioned a couple of days ago that I was in my groove with the liquids, but I TAKE THAT BACK because today was tough. I was hungry. 😟On a positive note, I've lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks! I didn't walk today because it was icky outside, and I didn't do my Yoga either because I just didn't have the energy. I'm averaging 88g of protein a day, getting a minimum of 64 ozs of fluids, and 450-550 calories. All the foods ya'll have posted sound wonderful right now! My vitamins: Bariatric multi vitamin with iron-1X day (I ordered on here) Liquid B-12- 2X a day B1- 1X a day D3- 1X a day Biotin- 1X a day Chewable calcium-2X a day at noon and before bed -
