    Please cheer me up

Today I'm 4 days post opt and I was really cranky and worn down. Sort of felt like why the heck did I do this? I was so hyped before the surgery and even threw the 10 day liquid diet. And I'm even taking short walks. So why I felt like this I don't even know. Probably like everyone said, reaction to the surgery.

    Long Term Effects

I guess what it boils down to is you can't have it both ways. If you could eat normally you wouldn't have chosen the band and you would have lost the weight eating normally. Or you'd get the band and never have a fill. Cause after all, you can do it on your own. I can't, so I have the band for life and I can and will live with that. I don't want to be fat again and the risks that come along with it. I can give up some food and a few soft drinks in exchange. Small price to pay.

    One-der-land equals a RED bra

YAY! Great way to celebrate. :scared2:

    Regrouping!

:scared2: I give you great credit for assessing the issue and doing what it takes to do the right thing about your weight. Thats the great thing about the band. You can always go get a fill and keep going. I think to many fall away from the "band rules" then don't pick themselves up and start again. Thats why the band rules are a LIFESTYLE change and we always need to go back to them even if we slip up. (Bandrules: no straws, no chewing gum, 30/30/30 no drinking with meals rule, no non-natural sugar, read food labels, no caffeine. 64 oz of water daily, Protein first, vegtables 2nd, carbs if you have room. Am I missing any?)

    What are you grateful for?

I'm lucky my work (I work at a hospital) has a bariactric center inside and our hospital insurance paid all but $250 of my lapband no issues, no letters, no asking. If I had to seek it out myself I don't think I would have. I only investigated lapband because I kept taking care of co-workers on the unit that were getting banded that seemed to weigh less than me and I finally asked one why did you have it done? 2 days later I was in the information meeting. 2 months later I was banded.
  6. I was also banded on Tuesday myself (7/15/08) and today I feel like I can get more liquids down than any other day. Also yesterday I started a food journal to track exactly how much I'm getting in so I'm not just guessing.

I got a date (Aug. 5) OMG I am so stoked!!!!

You forgot to get yourself some sugar free popcycles. Great since it's summer time. Also my doctor and nutritionist said crystal light counts as water and is ok to have.

    Problem with rice

I was told it forms a ball in the pouch and causes it to get stuck. I'm not on full foods yet so I don't know from experience. I'm still on the full liquids stage.

    LapBand and Pseudotumor Cerebri

I have PTC disease and the medications never worked for me. I had to have a VP shunt. I was just recently banded and hoped that the banding would help further. Please let me know if yours did.

Pseudo Tumor Cerebri Diaged in March 06

I know this is an OLD thread but I have PTC disease and have a VP shunt and thought getting lap band could help my PTC disease. I was wondering if any of the previous posters to this thread that had lap band if they could say if it helped or not.
  13. Kizzie, I was just banded on 7/15. I wondered what ever happened with your port situation and what the surgeon said.
  14. I'm getting banded 7/15/08 by Dr. Heydari at the Centegra Woodstock Hospital.

    Who's Getting Banded in July?

You left me out for the 15th!

    Just banded 7/11

I'm on my 9th day of liquids for my surgery on 7/15. (Tuesday AM). I feel your pain!

    Just Banded

Jodrae, you've found a great place here for support to keep on track. Being banded in July makes you one of the July 2008 Butterflies!

    Just Banded

The band doesn't do the work for you or choose what we eat. So to do your part I hope you stay around here for the support and pick some sort of exercise you can stick to daily. For me the 10,000 steps a day works and I invested in a pedometer that syncs to my computer (Omorn HJ-720ITC, purchased on Amazon.com) and I can carry around in my pocket and not think much about it. I have to do what works for a real life for me. I'm sure you'll figure out what works for you! Glad your here. Keep us updated!

    Weight Watchers?

I was wondering myself. But if you've tried WW in the last 2 years you will realize they focus on portion control now. You get so many "points" a day depending on where you are weight wise and you work with those points to portion your meals. At the start of every week is a weigh in. And you meet others that are trying to loose weight, get to know your name, and you feel part of a group and amongst others who are focused on the same goals. I have a feeling it's more about going each week and weighing in and staying accountable, and I get that.
  23. I'm going to have to drive an hour each way for my fills. But how often will that actually be? Once every few months I figure. If I were you I'd hate to go backwards in the process just of the fact of a drive. If you don't like the new surgeon, thats another story! Keep us posted.

    Newbie

I'm being banded also on 7/15/08! Hope your doing well with your pre-opt diet. I'm on my 8th day of liquids and I can't wait for this stage to be over. If my insurance didn't cover the procedure I'd definitely look into Mexico. I see lots of people here have had great results going there as long as they find a place here local to them that will do the fills. Keep us posted!
