I went stir-crazy. Once I was able to eat actual foods, it got a lot better. It was better on soft foods, even, just to have something other than liquids. You gotta hang in there; you're almost there. ❤️ By the way, the cravings I have now are for raw veggies and fruits and stuff that I still can't "have" yet, according to my dietitian. I've been dying for some carrots or peaches, omg. The junk food cravings went away with me providing healthy food, at least for the most part. Once you can cook and eat, you can make good alternatives for your junk food, too. You got this!

I did. I did the fast track program through Blossom Bariatrics in Las Vegas Nevada... I don't have insurance, so my total cost was $15,000, but I know they offer it for around $6500 with insurance if it's approved.

The first week was actually the *easiest* week for me, but I had a complication with my gallbladder going out on me within my second week (I had it removed a month after my sleeve). Walking was already getting easier from the pre-surgery diet because I lost about 13lbs before I even had surgery, and you need to be able to walk around as much as possible right afterwards to get that gas out. And I will find a good doctor, don't worry. ❤️

I have arthritis in my left knee from a bad accident I was in about ten years ago. It's been impossible to walk around and move, but now that I've lost some weight, I'm not in pain nearly as often. I've only just started losing the weight, but I'm definitely seeing an improvement already. I'm sure at some point, I'll still need to correct it surgically, but I feel like this is extending my knee's life a bunch and that makes it extra worthwhile to me.

I lost a coping mechanism. Binge eating was my skill I used to keep my emotions in check, and now that I no longer have the ability to do that, I am suddenly faced with EMOTIONS. It sucks, but I've been actively going to therapy and finding it very helpful. I'm learning new skills (creative wise, I'm knitting and doing things for fun that I never would have tried before) and just learning in general. Yes, I still have horrible mood swings sometimes, but it gets a little easier? You just gotta hang in there and do your best, and all the support you can get and give is even better.

Honestly, walking. You can use gas-x and stuff, but it only helps with the stomach gas. The rest of the gas that's trapped throughout your body, you just need to keep moving. The more you move, the faster it breaks up. Also, I had someone pound on my back (gently, going up and down both sides of my spine from shoulder to hip) to help break it up, too. It sucks, but hang in there. You can get through it. ❤️

So, it's been an eventful month for me. I am one month post op from my sleeve- I was feeling great, doing great, and then at about two weeks in, everything kind of went splort. I was in and out of the er three times before I was admitted and had to stay for five days. The doctors there were unsure what was happening beyond me being extremely dehydrated (I went almost two weeks without eating ANYTHING and was having a hard time keeping more than 6-8oz of water down a day), and ran a slew of tests... My surgeon (the one who did my sleeve) eventually made them run another test that showed my gallbladder only performing at 15%. So if it weren't for her, I'd probably be back in the hospital again for something else, honestly... I'm having surgery on Friday (the 7th) to get my gallbladder removed. I was wondering how many people went through this and if you can offer any words of advice. I just want to feel better... it's been non-stop dry heaving, nausea, and vomiting for almost three weeks now, and I am literally at my wit's end with this. Thank you.

Gallbladder Problems
Sammi_Katt replied to Sammi_Katt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's crazy how one tiny organ going haywire can really bring you down. I got it removed and besides feeling like I worked out too hard at the gym on my core, I feel night and day better. If you develop gallbladder problems, get it out. So worth not being miserable for. -
Talk to your dietitian. You may need to start eating a bit more calorie-wise to maintain rather than lose.

Sleeved January 9th -how are you all doing on foods?
Sammi_Katt replied to Liz2020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to (sleeved 1/6), but I've been having gallbladder issues and have to go in for surgery again on Friday. I was looking forward to food and exercise (strangely), but haven't been able to eat much at all. I went almost two weeks without ANY food because of this (don't recommend it, but I was so sick and hospitalized). -
How long was it before you could get in your minimum amount of fluids? I was told 64oz minimum, but I'm not even quite two weeks post op and I am still struggling with this. I've been barely getting 20-30oz some days, and have been feeling more and more like I'm getting dehydrated. I did what my surgeon told me to and went to the ER to get fluids through IV, but the doctor there refused to give me any. I'm annoyed and feel dry and haven't been doing really well, so now I'm trying to sip on some powerade zero and hope for the best... Anyone else have this problem?

That's a problem, though. I haven't been able to get any protein shakes down in about a week. My doctor had me start soft foods early so I could get some protein. I did find some plant based protein water, so I'm hoping that works, but I'm super intolerant to the whey protein. I *did* figure out that my tap water and some of the bottled water we tried has a lot of minerals in it, which was causing some of my cramps that made it hard for me to drink. I've been able to drink powerade zero and smartwater without too much trouble today, so I'm super hopeful. *fingers crossed*

Yay, my doctor is letting me go three days early to the soft foods stage. He and I both think my body was just rejecting the liquid diet after so long of being on it. Apparently, it happens occasionally? I had half a scrambled egg today and it was so so so scrumptious. ❤️ -

I mean I can only get down about 1/6th of it before I can't physically swallow more, or I end up drinking half of it and throwing up a good portion of it. Protein water won't work for me because it's whey. My doctor is aware of it; I'll just heal a bit more slowly. I'm doing everything I can right now. My normal shake is 20g, and my body cannot handle the taste of it. We even tried bone broth soups with protein in it, but my body says no. -

Me too! I'm so excited about eggs. My girlfriend made some the other day and it made me salivate lol -

I was January 6th, and still only liquids until the 20th. I actually haven't been able to get much of anything protein wise down. I'm barely hitting 6-10 protein a day... I'm hoping once I start eating food, it'll be easier. I'm just tired of the shakes and my body is, too. (I already talked to my doctor- I'm still trying every day, I just can't keep it down... probably just too sweet, honestly, and I'm sick and tired of it lol) -
How so? Right after surgery (like day of and the day after), it was a little difficult because my muscles were still recovering from the paralytic in the anesthesia. But after that, it wasn't a problem as long as I'm getting enough water in a day.

Blossom Bariatrics Las Vegas NV
Sammi_Katt replied to Lil Bird's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery there on January 6th with the fast track program. I liked them a lot, actually. Very patient and they work with you. I paid out of pocket, so it was about $15,000, but it included everything. I also had Dr. Sakata, and she did a wonderful job. I'm healing very well with very little pain. I like the fact that it is outpatient, but you NEED to make sure you have a person with you. They'll provide transport and such, but having someone there to help you get up and down to walk afterwards is really good idea. Also, the vitamins they have on their shelves are a smidge cheaper than you can buy most anywhere else, too lol. -
I occasionally feel stomach hungry, but it's usually because I haven't been sipping enough water or getting enough protein. I'm still on my clear liquids stage, so I hear you about being tired of them. Hang in there. A lot of it is probably head hunger too- you're used to eating, and your head is yelling at you that you need food even though your body doesn't. I'm still working on figuring out between the two, so I know it's difficult to tell sometimes.

That's awesome!!! I am one week post op, but down almost 30 pounds... this morning, I put all my rings back on (including my wedding ring, which I had to use lotion to get onto my fingers) and it just slipped right on. I squealed with delight lol. ❤️

I have one for my sleeve. I have my surgery type, the date, no blind ng tube, and no nsaids. My medical id card also adds no sugars and my allergies, but these are the super important ones.

Powder Protein, Unflavored
Sammi_Katt replied to MrsRobinson4411's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I use bone broth protein powder instead of whey (I'm allergic to whey). It seems to do way better at high temperatures and doesn't go all gummy. I mixed it into just finished boiling soup and it did okay. -
Post-Op Pain and Gas
Sammi_Katt replied to WomanofSubstance's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It hurts, but you gotta walk walk walk. Walking will take care of that gas buildup pain (not the stomach gas as much, but the stuff in your chest and sides). Keep drinking water as much as you can. It sucks, but you can get through this. Gas-x chewables helped me a bunch for the stomach gas, too. -
I had my surgery on the 6th and I've been having them, too. Your new stomach is just trying to learn things. Gas-x helps a little bit, for sure. I'm hoping it stops soon. Just hang in there. ❤️

I haven't had a period in like... three years. I had my surgery Monday and, lo and behold, guess what shows up this morning? Ugh. Hormones are crazy.
