I don't think I wore *anything* remotely tight, pants or underwear wise, for about a month and a half post op. Any kind of pressure (even just my cat trying to lay on my belly) hurt my muscles there. You're healing still. Stick to loose and comfy pants as much as you can until you are 100% sure you can handle something otherwise. It's different for everyone, but it'll cause you less discomfort in the long run while your muscles heal.

Dry, brittle hair
Sammi_Katt replied to CheerfulLoser's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It was falling out a lot and I am a little overdramatic, I will admit. I was just getting sad every time I brushed or washed my hair and pulled out clumps. To clarify. ❤️ Sorry for worrying. -
Dry, brittle hair
Sammi_Katt replied to CheerfulLoser's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Mine has finally stopped doing that, and has started growing like crazy. I only wash my hair twice a week now, and use argan oil after I shower. I do, however, have SUPER dry skin, so I have to do a full body rub down twice a day with gold bond eczema cream. The hair was definitely annoying, but as long as you keep getting your vitamins and your calorie intake eventually goes up, it'll calm down. My hair fell out during the first six months to the point where I completely shaved my head and wore wigs for a while. Hang in there. ❤️ -
I've lost 98lbs, and my birthday is in one week. I am almost 8 months post op (will be on 9/6), so maybe I can get 100 for my birthday? It'd be so awesome! I also had a HUGE NSV today- the pants I was wearing in my before picture were a size 28, and I can fit SUPER comfortably into a size 18 as of today! (Almost need a 16 now; definitely gonna get a belt for the first time in my life soon).

I found a rainbow tutu. I am so happy that I can wear just about anything now. I am a *very* responsible adult, and now, a very *colorful* and responsible adult. ❤️

Any one go to Blossom without a companion?
Sammi_Katt replied to evlfred's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a person with me, however, I know that if you don't have someone with you, they will give you someone to help you. It's probably one of the nurses or the assistants at Blossom. Call them and ask. They are very helpful. I had my surgery with them. -
Happy birthday. ❤️ And good job on your current weight loss. ❤️

I weigh myself the same time every Monday morning, wearing nothing but my own skin. You can *very* easily get obsessed with the scale, and it fluctuates so much during the day. It's best to do first thing in the morning. Try not to fixate on it, if you can? You're doing really well, and the scale number is just a number.

How many meds/vitamins do you take daily?
Sammi_Katt replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Multivitamin, b50, and my GERD meds in the morning. Afternoon is my first calcium and fish oil. Evening is calcium. Before bed is calcium and an allergy med. Used to take stool softeners every night and fiber every morning, but I was able to stop those finally. So yea, it's totally understandable lol. It's frustrating packing my meds at the beginning of the week. -
Gastric sleeve post-op dizzy
Sammi_Katt replied to Aubrey7373's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have it fairly badly, too, but I mostly just stand and wait for it to pass now. My doctors said nothing was wrong (after blood tests and a stress test) and asked me to try more electrolytes. It still happens, but not nearly as often. If your doctor won't listen to you, get a second opinion. You are definitely entitled to finding someone who is willing to listen to you. -
Mine was like that right before my gallbladder failed. Should bring it up with your surgeon or doctor, just to be safe. ❤️

Is pasta really taboo?
Sammi_Katt replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am eight months out, and probably eat a little more carbs than my surgeon wants, but it's mostly fibrous. I found chickpea pasta is a good substitute for actual pasta, or zucchini noodles. I know carbs can cause blood sugar crashes, but they're talking more the non-fiber-y carbs, which pasta is included in. -
I am eight months out and occasionally eat sweets. I found low carb, low sugar ice cream (Beyers) and occasionally have dessert hummus (found one that was pumpkin pie flavored!!!) with fruit or an cinnamon apple sweet bread (they're like... 60 calories a piece, and only 3g of sugar). There are absolutely ways to include sweets back in, but in a healthy way that (hopefully) won't cause dumping.

Calcium Supplements that aren’t gross??
Sammi_Katt replied to WhatATool:-)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the bariatric advantage chewy bites. You can get them from the store on this site. They taste like softer starbursts to me. -
What was everyone's average weight lost post VSG? (MONTHLY Average)
Sammi_Katt replied to Itsmehab's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
8 months out, and down 101 pounds. I started out super fast- lost 21 before I even had surgery. Was losing 5-8lbs a week for 3 months, then about 1-5lbs for 3 months, but now, I've settled out at 0.5-2lbs a week. I'm still losing and doing well for myself. It's a lot of hard work, but it's so worth it. -

100lbs for my birthday!
Sammi_Katt replied to Sammi_Katt's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So, update. It's my birthday tomorrow and I made it to 99.6lbs lost. Just that 0.4 away. UGH! lol It's still a huge accomplishment and I am so happy with it. I'm even down another size, AND I CAN SHOP IN THE REGULAR CLOTHING SECTION FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I WAS 15!!! AHH! ❤️ -
Food drink log
Sammi_Katt replied to tarotcardreader's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a paper planner that I use when I am away from my phone or internet (otherwise, I use myfitnesspal for the most part). I love putting in little stickers and things to make it all cute. I use it mostly to track amounts and what I ate, but I track my water with my water bottles. I have three 24oz bottles, and once I've drained each of those, I know I hit my water goals. -
What are you thankful for this week? - 8/31/2020
Sammi_Katt replied to Pandemonium's topic in The Lounge
I am thankful that the desert heat is dying down finally. I am grateful that my health is still getting better. I am thankful that my body can work and not be sore all the time anymore. I am thankful for my very supportive chosen family, who go out of their ways to help me succeed. -
People *really* like to stick their noses in people's business where it doesn't belong. I brought it up thinking my friends and family would be happy to hear about me taking a positive change toward healthy, but I was met with a lot of negative comments. I ended up not telling anyone else until afterward, once I started losing the weight. It is *not* a quick fix, no matter what people tell you. It's a tool to help you get your life on track in a healthy way. There will be a honeymoon period where the weight falls off with you doing nothing, but once that stops, it's all on you. It's not the "easy way out." I had a lot of health problems before this. I've lost almost 100 pounds in 8 months and, despite a little saggy skin, my health is the best it's ever been in my entire life. I have normal blood pressure, I'm not longer at risk of a heart attack, I am not at risk for diabetes, I have more energy than ever before and actually want to get out and do things... People are going to be supportive and people are going to be total jerks about it. You just gotta make sure you listen to what *you* want to do. It's your body and it's your health. ❤️
-
Absolutely. I can smell *everything* now. And a lot of smells that used to be good for me stink now, and vice versa. My favorite smell is still fresh bread. Though I can't eat it, I can enjoy it with my partners when they do. ^^

When did you start working out post op?
Sammi_Katt replied to msbenz07's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I started walking on day one. Didn't go super far, but I paced CONSTANTLY. Went on an actual outside walk day 7, once I was sure I wouldn't fall over. Still took it easy. I was cleared for full exercise a month in (week 4), when my surgeon was sure my stitches were healed. I started light and did dancing and light (like 3lb weights) weight lifting. I'm up into heavy cardio now, 8 months out. -
It's not fun in Nevada right now (we have a hot front right now, so not only is it blazing hot, it's also muggy T_T), but I'm making due. Got a video game for my switch which lets me work out, and got a good workout with it (500 calories burned!). Ring Fit. It's fun.

Carnivore?
Sammi_Katt replied to orange_lily's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
The broad keto would be much better for you. It would be something that could be more easily maintained, and people would less likely fall off that because of less restrictions. The more you restrict yourself, the more likely you are to want to cave in. A lot of people can't process sugary foods, and you'll get sick if you try to eat too much. Once you are post op, your body will adjust to eating healthy things and want healthy things more often, so maybe you can indulge the sugar craving with something healthy, like fruit. Also, I agree with colormehappy. You NEED that fiber to go to the bathroom. Constipation is a BIG deal, and it SUCKS. I can finally eat veggies now with every meal, and my bowels are much happier because of it. (TMI, I know) -
I do apologize. I'm trying to find it, but I might be mistaken. I did take liquid tylenol, but it may have been the corn syrup one.
