Nothing yet! Turns out the ONLY thing they cannot accept from my other doc is the dietician visit. So June 1st I have that, rven submission. I’m hoping for a July date so by my bday I’ll be happy and losing! (September 4th)

Congrats! I cannot wait until I am to this point! Of course I look forward to looking better, but for me FEELING better matters most. I’ve been unhealthy for too long! Congrats again ❤️

I felt this on sooo many levels lol. I began my journey in January, was supposed to get submitted in April buuuut COVID hit. Since, I've actually switched doctors. Luckily my insurance doesn't require any supervised diets, but that definitely doesn't change the desire for things to go faster! It's crazy because the months move faster than you think they would!! Congrats for starting your journey & I hope they get everything going for you!

It’s been a while guys!! So between the last few months I’ve decided to switch hospitals & surgeons. Originally I was going to Froedtert in Milwaukee, WI... but now I’ll be with Northwestern down in Chicago. However, Northwestern won’t accept the appointments I’ve had (which is okay I guess... my insurance doesn’t require anything lol). So I have a dietician appointment this coming Friday & the following Friday meet with the surgeon. From there they’ll schedule the psych appointment. After that.. submission. I’m hoping for a July date! Here we go again with the waiting lol.. but I’m happy w/ the decision to switch! My sis had her surgery at Northwestern.

Thank you! I've actually started looking into a separate doctor who will use the information for things I've already had done like the psych exam, edg, sleep study. He will also only have me complete one dietician visit. Northwestern wants me to do 4 visits even though my insurance only requires one! We will see what happens, my appointment is next thursday!

I feel your pain. I had a doctor that constantly wanted to test me for weed (I VOLUNTARILY told them about this). I smoke or use edibles to sleep, I attempted to get on meds but mirtazapine made me gain about 10lbs so I stopped. Anyway, I've found a couple good doctors i'm inquiring about. The first one is requiring that i do 4 months of dietician visits (my insurance requires ONE), so I'm iffy about them. I've set up appointments with another doctor who luckily will accept my documents so hopefully it goes well & things start rolling sooner. Hopefully we both will have our surgeries soon!

i’m so excited! i know compared to others my wait time is basically nothing but boy has all this caused some anxiety. (my insurance requires no supervision visits but i did them anyway) i started this journey December 31st 😁. at times i've felt like i was being pulled in every direction & now here i am. today i'll be doing a lab to make sure i’ve stopped smoking weed..i’ll pass that sh@# with flying colors & boom i'll be sent off.. hoping my approval comes fast ❤️

Man! Thank you! That really means a lot. Sometimes I get so caught up in things I want that I don’t even concentrate in whats happening now! I’m so excited for this journey! Initially I was worried about being denied since my BMI is 37/38ish. But I’m owning it, like I said this year is mine plus my insurance is so lax about requirements. Thank you for your words, they mean a lot! And again, I’m sorry about your son... it takes nothing but STRENGTH to pick yourself up from that!

Thank you! I hope yours does as well. Last year it was just fine then in the process of my preop I had another doctor scare the life out of me having me believe it was something bad... Whats interesting is like you, there is a family history. My mom has one & so does my grandma! I’ll be praying for you!

It’s so interesting to me how people really look down on it, whether it’s medical or not. I’ve even had people on this forum question me.. one even implied that marijuana was the root of me being fat 🙄. Did you ever end up getting help from anywhere else?

Tea suggestion??? I’m willing to try! I have a friend who teaches yoga & I’ve been trying out her classes. It’s definitely not as easy as I thought, but man it helps.

So sorry you’re going through this! I can kind of relate-I had a scare last year with a pancreatic cyst, then found out it was on my kidney & the doctors really scared me by throwing are the “C” word. However, with a bunch of MRIs & lab work they discovered it was nonmalignant. I really hope things get better! Even though you got that shock, remember those successes! Easier said than done, I know.. but they still mean a lot! Be well ❤️

Agreed! I’ve started doing other things that help the anxiety. I do miss it at times, as I believe it helps me best with sleep. Even better then the meds I’ve been put on. But I appreciate how I’ve had to really sort out & get to the bottom of what makes me anxious & what not

As for me, I’m in Wisconsin & it’s not legal. They asked me to stop as well. I just did a test today in order for them to submit me to insurance aaaand they’re gonna do one before my surgery as well. I used it for sleep and anxiety.. and when I stopped was put on a med that made me gain 8lbs in a month.. funny how that works lol

My sister lives in chicago & has one, they didn’t care nor did they test her. She smoked up until a few weeks before surgery

Hey! i too have really bad anxiety.. I officially quit smoking (weed) back in January but man has it been hard lol. I called my primary & asked for help honestly.. I got a prescription for mirtazapine (for sleep but also for anxiety).. however that caused me to gain weight so now I’m on trazedone. I’ve tried to find other things I could do when I feel anxious, I even have some stress vitamins lol. for me, my doctors actually have me doing labs to check if I’m not smoking today & also said they will a few days before surgery. Definitely not lecturing AT ALL because I know where u are coming from but I def would stop smoking & see what else u can do.. I would hate for them to cancel anything over it! Keep me posted and BEST of luck!
