Ya got me! I looked too! Kristin

It's amazing how our families can be such a blessing when we need it most. I'm sorry that your grandmother put you through that, it really plays mind games with you that you don't recognize as a child but we end up bearing the repurcussions throughout life.

Thanks Mary! And congrats again, you look awesome!! Kristin

LMAO! I need the diaper too TellyMelly! I'm in school, struggling to drink my 6 bottles of Water (I have the 100 lb excess too P'Nut) so every 30 min or so, I have to leave class to run to the restroom. Thank God I sit on the next to last row, but one of my friends sits on the back row and has decided that he needs to set up a toll booth for all the times I run to the bathroom. lol. Kristin

Of course! Good luck! Kristin

Hey guys! I was banded 3/8/06 and the doc said not to do abdominal exercises for 3 months after surgery. However, I'm already lifting weights and taking Jazzercize classes. I'm just wondering if everyone else's doctor also told them not to do ab exercises, and the reasoning behind it. Thanks!:bananadoggywow: :Banane20: Kristin

Not a one! Except for the fact that my old clothes don't fit! :grouphug: Kristin

How does your DD feel about your WLS?
legallyKristin replied to sunsett's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just whatever you do- DO NOT MAKE comparisons to "her" size. My mom was chunky when I was growing up, but at about 16 I passed her up. I'm also about 6" taller, but about 50 lb heavier. I actually had friends of my mom's tell me when I was like 12 years old that if I didn't stop eating I would be wearing my mom's clothes. And my mom was a yo-yo dieter so I was always being compared to her, especially when she got smaller. And my mom tried to force the yo-yo diets on me. The bottom line is- THIS crap plays serious mind games with you as a child/teenager/young adult. I got tired of everyone trying to control me by forcing me to eat tuna fish and salad so I would sneak cookies and milk shakes, etc. so that I could be in control of my body and no one else. So this pattern of trying to "control" my life so that I wouldn't be compared to my mom got me where I am today- morbidly obese and trying to take back control of my own life. NEVER NEVER give harsh criticism. The best way to help is to be a good role model. Don't buy the bad food and set good examples. Continue to point out her strengths and don't dwell on her weight. Invite her to exercise with you, encourage a team effort...but don't critique what your daughter eats, how she eats, etc. She will see your success through your modeling and on her own she will decide that she wants to make the changes in her own life. If you force it or make comparisons to her about your weight loss, she may end up resentful or with further eating problems (I became bulemic). I understand how easy it is to take the mindset that "if I can lose this weight, anyone can." But it's not true. We all had to get the point where we made up our own mind. It's really hard to be sitting on the sidelines while your mom and GF lose the weight, but you can't force her to do something that she's not ready to do yet. :bananadoggywow: Kristin -
Questions about band slippage
legallyKristin replied to sassy&happy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you do a search at the top, there were a few threads about this exact topic a few weeks ago. :bananadoggywow: Kristin -
Even then BCBS TX may not cover lapband. I had all of the pre-requisites but the actual EMPLOYER that provides the insurance may have excluded certain coverage. I could have had RNY and it would have been covered, but lapband was a big NO. Good luck! :bananadoggywow: Kristin

Mary- Where are you from? I'm from Marshall but moved to San Antonio last year for school. East Texas has great places to ride! Unfortunately, we can't find any place near San Antonio. :Banane20: :bananadoggywow: Kristin

I posted this but are we supposed to just post these each Wednesday??? Our thread may get a little long otherwise. I'm going to copy the score card onto a word document and just keep up with it myself until Wednesday if that would help. :bananadoggywow: Kristin

Abdominal Exercises Post-Op

My husband wanted me to ask this.
legallyKristin replied to MiaHalliwell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry, but I would have switched doctors if mine said that to me. Having this surgery was a big risk and I felt that I had the right to stay online and research until my heart was content. That's pretty unethical to say that, especially when someone has finally gotten the courage to come to their office, admit they have a problem and seek medical help. That doc better be glad I wasn't his patient- first I would have told him off, then reported him to the AMA and taken my money to another doctor. I worked for a physician for 5 years, you don't say stuff like that. Kristin -
YAH! I threw a little party when they kicked her off! Now the competition is getting good! :bananadoggywow: Kristin

Looking GOOD!! Nothing like seeing yourself skinny on a 4wheeler. I have 2 Hondas, and I have fat pics of me on them- so that's a good idea! LOL! Keep up the good work!

HELP!! Sabotaging Myself With Booze!!!
legallyKristin replied to Xann77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok. I'm sorry but those who say "just don't drink", I think that's kinda crappy. Being banded doesn't mean that you have to go out with friends and sit and drink a bottle of Water. We didn't get banded and realistically expect to give up ALL vices. We gave up unhealthy eating habits, if someone want to have a few drinks (IN MODERATION) on the weekend- that's THEIR CHOICE! **Stepping off of my soapbox** :Banane33: Generally, when I go out I will order a couple of shots of tequilla or vodka & water on the rocks. But I get really excited if the place offers light cranberry juice. Then I have a Cape Cod-cranberry juice and vodka. This is generally also what I make at house parties. Also, there are little margarita mixer travel pouches that they sell on www.bariatriceating.com where all you do is order tequila and water and open the pouch, stir and voila you have your own sugar free margarita! Wednesday. Which would mean I have to weigh tomorrow  Kristin -
I don't think that they all use mushrooms, there are certain ones that are specifically for mushroom lovers. And no, I don't think mushrooms are off limits, I eat grilled mushrooms at least 2x a week and never have any problems. I also add them to my meatloafs! Here's the ingredients for Boca Burgers: Water, ORGANIC TEXTURED SOY FLOUR, ORGANIC MILD CHEDDAR cheese (CULTURED PASTEURIZED ORGANIC MILK, SALT, ENZYMES), ORGANIC TEXTURED WHEAT GLUTEN, WHEAT GLUTEN, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF ORGANIC SOY Protein CONCENTRATE, YEAST EXTRACT, KONJAC GUM, ORGANIC SOY Fiber, MALT EXTRACT, SEA SALT, EGG WHITES, NATURAL FLAVOR (NON-MEAT), DRIED GARLIC, DRIED ONIONS, SESAME OIL, SALT, ORGANIC WHEAT FLOUR. CERTIFIED ORGANIC BY QUALITY CERTIFICATION SERVICES (QCS). Kristin

Do you drink with your meals?
legallyKristin replied to fiveholts714's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry to hijack but... Actually- I think every person is different. Just like my doctor told me to EAT BREAD, RICE & Pasta in moderation and preferrably whole grain. He specifically said DO EAT GRAINS, not NO bread, no rice, no pasta, no potatoes. We had this band to help us be able to live with a healthy diet. I did Atkins for 2 years, lost 100 lbs and gained back 80. It's all about eating a balanced, healthy diet in moderation. NO Bread doesn't work in the long term, IMHO. Additionally, if someone can drink -IN MODERATION-with their meal (not with the intent to flush the pouch) and not be hungry for 4 hours...more power to them. I can't, so I don't. Kristin -
Oh Paula! That does sound good!! I may have to go to Sam's today! Kristin

No clue why 200#, sounds arbitrary but maybe he was considering my height. I'm 5'4".
