  1. It's just me and my fiance. I eat lots of meat, he's a vegetarian! So I have LOTS of leftovers. We went to macaroni grill and I had the whole wheat penne and chicken. I had to use TWO to-go containers to bring my food home. I've just decided that it IS OK to throw away food. I don't have to eat it. Sigh. It's hard though. But maybe it's helping me get the head issues resolved as well. Maybe I should get a bigger dog. My pekignese can't eat much either! Kristin

    cereal binge eaters

DianeChef- PUT down the Captain Crunch!! I sometimes will eat Special K with Strawberries and HEB's Mootopia milk (less sugar, fat free and MORE protein). I used to eat a HUGE bowl (or 2) of fruity pebbles each morning for Breakfast. Glad I can't do that anymore! But I still LOVE my cereal!! Kristin

    MySpace.com?

Ditto Telly. Everyone is so dang paranoid now. It's not like I'm stupid. I'm on myspace to meet friends and reunite with old ones. I'm not going to put up pics of Jane Fonda or something instead of my own. From my page, no one knows how to contact me except through the "contact me" link. Oh and that I live in San Antonio. Big whoopie. So do 1.5 million other people. It's fun. It's not like I'm 13 and susceptable to being "preyed" upon by pedaphiles. Geez. There always has to be some "nay" sayer. Sheeesh. Kristin

    Disappointed Big Time

Please be proud of yourself that you care enough about your body NOT to get the GB like your friends. They may have lost the weight fast, but 50 lb in a year is great! If you keep that up, you'll be at your goal when they need plastic surgery for all the saggy skin! Congrats on the weight loss. Don't succumb to the peer pressure of not being "in" or "a loser" because you didn't get GB. You still had WLS, you are still taking control of your own health and life. You just have to follow different rules than the GB patients. You can do it, and are doing it. Keep up the good work and get determined to use this tool to the fullest extent possible- put down the cookies!! Kristin

    any thoughts?

My head issues got me into the situation, not my stomach. I have a friend considering GB because she wants to lose it the easy way. I don't think that there's anything I could say to make her realize that all WLS is a tool that you have to make changes in your life regardless of which one you choose. I love my lapband because I can maintain it my whole life, rather than having th 18 month window of weight loss. You're dead on. The head issues are the biggest problem. Best of luck with your surgery!! Kristin
  7. There are some other antibiotics that are in the same family as clindomysin that do come in liquid form. I worked at a pediatric office and I often had to call it in, but I can't remember what it is. Your doc should know though. Kristin
  8. Ok guys! I'm still a work in progress, but here is my attempt to encourage others interested in the LapBand to go for it! <img src="http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-1/1136773/Side-By-Side2.jpg" width=600 height=313> p.s. I'm down 7 lb from the latest photo!

    MySpace.com?

LOL. Thanks EmileeKaye! Yeh we're from a small town, so our parents were best friends when they were growing up. We grew up like brother and sister. It's pretty cool. Kristin
  10. Hey guys, I finally started doing some ab exercises at my Jazzercise class. However, I never felt the "burn" that I used to feel before my surgery on 3/8. I did about 75 crunches on a yoga ball- and NOTHING. Has anyone else lost feeling/sensation in their abdominal muscles due to the surgery?? Thanks! Kristin

How do YOU feel when YOU are full?

I guess it's different for everyone. My "full" feeling doesn't feel at all like it did before banding. Kristin
  16. legallyKristin

    advice please

You were banded the day after I was. I also have never pb'd, but I do burp when i eat or drink. Nothing like a huge burp, just a little air. If you've recently had your fill it could just be taking effect. From everything I've heard on the board, it doesn't seem like you can slip a band from running and you would probably have more tale-tale signs, such as being able to consume a lot more than normal or not being able to even swallow Water. Sometimes after exercise my band gets pretty tight and it causes me to have a weird feeling too. I generally drink some room temp water and it will go away after a bit. Hope that helps! :eekB: Kristin

    I think I need friends or a life-something!

Go to a local scrapbook store and join a beginners class to make a scrapbook of your weight loss journey! Scrapbookers are always willing to meet new friends. :eekB: Kristin

    tolerating bread?

I have 2cc in 4cc band and can eat whole wheat Pasta and bread just fine. Boy I wish I couldn't though. The past 3 days I kept running back to the breads when I couldn't get the turkey sausage or chicken down. :eekB: Kristin

    weight watchers

I agree, dieting STINKS! I'm with DonnaB on FitDay, it's great to use when my scale stalls, I can log my foods and see why I'm not losing. Personally, I follow the mindset along the lines of the South Beach Diet as recommended by my doctor. Lean Protein and Good Carbs. It works since we need to get all our protein in to begin with. I don't follow it to a T- but it just helps me keep things straight in my head. :eekB: Kristin

How do YOU feel when YOU are full?

I gained about 2 lbs back but lost it quickly once I switched from eating mashed potatoes to eating scrambled eggs and other South Beach diet idea. Just remember stick to the Protein, drink Water and exercise and you should minimize initial weight gain. Good luck! :eekB: Kristin

How do YOU feel when YOU are full?

The golfball thing SUX. SO far that's the only problem I've ever encountered. No PB, Sliming, etc. However, it's kinda funny and I try not to do it. But when I'm SATISFIED...I put my hands behind my head and lean back. I try to remember not to do this in public but it's so instinctive. I don't even mean to do it, but my fiance thinks it's funny. But at least I have a pretty easy signal to recognize. :eekB: Kristin

    advice counsel and wisdom

Mine was done for $10,700 here in San Antonio. Paid for through student loans. If it meant I could get a better job, I think it should be considered an education expense. :eekB: Kristin

If you have a 10cm/4cc band...

4/20/06 1st fill: 2.0cc 6/6/06 2nd fill scheduled. Right now good restriction. Have trouble with things like turkey sausage and get a "golfball" pretty frequently from not going slow enough. But can still eat whole wheat Pasta. And I'm only eating about 1/4c 4x a day. My scale has slowed, so I probably need to eat 5x a day because I don't think I'm getting enough calories in. :eekB: Kristin

    Why not CHEAT??!!?

I agree with Kelly B. I was STARVING after a week on full liquids, so I went to mushies for 1/2 week and then stayed at soft foods for the rest of the time. The mushies filled me up without any problems and it worked for me. Of course I was already walking 3 miles about a week post-op, so I think I needed the protein/nutrition of real food. :eekB: Kristin

UHhh. I'm not doing so great. Finals are next week, so I've not exercised and have eating convenience food for the past few days. I promise to do better after finals are over though! Kristin
