Suggestions for med-id bracelet
legallyKristin replied to mini_me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So glad I found this thread. I just ordered my own bracelet from www.hahoriginals.com and it was only $75. My doctor never even mentioned that these procedures could harm me! Kristin -
I'm fighting head hunger too. Someone told me one time that if I start thinking about wanting food, I need to ask myself, "am I so hungry that I would eat a carrot?" Generally the answer is no, so I make myself do something else to occupy my time. I know it's not much, head hunger is HARD! But I hope that may help a little! Kristin

Stumbled upon US band for 10,700, wish center surgeons
legallyKristin replied to mini_me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
With the Wish Center being self pay I didn't have to have a sleep study, Upper GI or anything else except about 6 different blood tests, a urinalysis and a chest X-Ray. My insurance covered these tests after I met my deductible. Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to email me! Kristin -
When I used to see them I would think that I'd better stock up because it's a once-a-year event. I think that's why I went nuts with them. Thank God I don't like nuts, my mom can inhale those ones with the nuts. Thin Mints were my weakness. Bring on the fish! It beats passing up another innocent girl scout doing the devil's work. Stumbled upon US band for 10,700, wish center surgeons
legallyKristin replied to mini_me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My family is from Marshall, all the way back to my great-great grandparents and most of them are still there today. My aunt is Susan Carey, she has a CPA firm on E. Houston St. What's sad is that my MOM works for the hospital (for the past 27 years) and they wouldn't negotiate on the $25,000 price. Crazy! Kristin -

YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME! I was born, raised and lived in Marshall until last August! Email me if you need any support! I'd be glad to help anyway I can! Getting banded was definately the best thing that ever happened to me. Kristin -
Dear God, I'm just 9 days out and I'm HUNGRY! Maybe it's because I've been so active, I don't know. I'm already walking about 2 miles a day. Can't wait for some REAL food! Hang in there! Kristin

Wow! From that site there was a whole expose on how UNINNOCENT Miss Pickler really is. I hope she goes soon, I hate being deceived. If you're really from the country, FINE but don't pretend! GRR. I get too into this show, I know! Kristin

Glad I'm still on liquids. Evil children were tempting me with Thin Mints outside of Wal-Mart this afternoon. God I used to love Thin Mints. Of course right now I'd be satisfied with being able to CHEW any thing! I'm so tired of liquids I was reading a diet cooking magazine and thought that the asparagus sounded good. I HATE asparagus! Will it ever end?? Kristin

Yeh I was given the estimate of $25,000 paying cash at my hometown hospital in East Texas, which is 7 hours away from where I'm going to law school. It was a very strange coincidence that the cheapest around ended up being in San Antonio, where I am going to school! It's unimaginable that there is such a huge cost difference! Kristin -
Quick question. I was supposed to start full liquids today, although I really started like 4 days ago because I've been way too active to stick to Clear Liquids. I've tolerated everything very well. I'm wondering now if I can have use fresh strawberries and blueberries with a bit of Protein powder to make a fruit smoothie. Or would that be pushing it?? TIA! Kristin

Fruit Smoothie 1 Week Post-op?
legallyKristin replied to legallyKristin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's a lot of ounces according to my nutritionist. I was told to stick to about 8 oz. Kristin -
I've heard that we have both a White Castle and a Crystal's here in San Antonio. My theory is if I don't go, I won't mess up my diet. So I've never had one, even if all my friends talk about them a lot! Kristin

Water weight would be my guess. I have to just remind myself that I knew the lap band was the slower more healthy route. I don't think I really want to lose 20-30 lbs the first week anyway. No one outside my close family knows I did this, so I would have a lot more questions to answer. Remember Slow and Steady! :hat: Kristin -
Paris: As far as youngsters go I think Paris really is in a league of her own. Kellie: makes me nauseous. I think it's all an act. And I don't really think she sings that well out of her "comfort zone." Mandesa & Katherine: Freaking awesome, mature singers Melissa: Unmemorable Chicken Little: Good voice, but just can't compete with the big boys Chris: Great performer, but kinda stole the whole remake of the Stevie Wonder song from Red Hot Chili Peppers. If I hadn't already heard the rock version I would give him more credit. Elliot: Needs more confidence but could be great! Taylor: I love his passion for music and think he's a great performer. MY TOP 4 Pics: Katherine, Taylor, Mandesa and Paris :hat: Kristin

Well I'm a week out today! Getting very bored with liquids, so I'll probably get creative tonite and get out the food processor. Other than the shoulder gas pains, no real problems! Good luck to all the upcoming bandsters, there really is nothing to worry about! In fact, I'm on spring break and I'm ready to get back to school, I'm starting to get bored! Good luck to all! :hat: Kristin -
Fruit Smoothie 1 Week Post-op?
legallyKristin replied to legallyKristin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks so much! I think that the "straw rule" will help me figure things out a bit more. I'm getting bored with protein shakes, so I'm getting a little creative now. I just don't want to do anything to hurt myself or my new "friend"! Kristin -
Fruit Smoothie 1 Week Post-op?
legallyKristin replied to legallyKristin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, my doctor says that 2 Protein shakes (milk based) per day were ok. So that's not a problem and I've been tolerating them well. I guess my real question is would a blended fruit smoothie count as a liquid or a mushy? -

That's where I had mine done. It is really a great deal. That covers everything except like all your pre-surgery lab tests, which my insurance covered after my deductible. The surgeons and staff there are great. I kinda helped that I lived in San Antonio though! Kristin -
LOL...Donna I must agree. I tried them post-op when I was on Clear liquids. I was desperate for any clear source of Protein but not THAT desperate! Kristin

Thanks for all the warm welcomes and congrats on all of your weight loss! I'm going to check out that movie this afternoon. Thanks!! Kristin

Speaking of exercise...I'm almost a week out of surgery and I've already been very active in walking around the neighborhood. I'm wondering when I will be able to get back on my elliptical machine and doing toning exercises. I was up to about 45 minutes on the elliptical before surgery. TIA! Kristin P.S. I love it PhotoNut! Off the chuckwagon for good hopefully!!

Hi All! I'm newly banded and ready to jump on the Gone for Good Bandwagon! I'm 24 years old, have been fat since I was about 8. I'm currently in law school in San Antonio, Texas. I'm engaged to my childhood sweatheart and tenatively will be married in December. I'm an only child of a dysfunctional family that used food and weight as methods of manipulation. But I'm working through my head issues with a great therapist at school, and doing pretty good IMHO. My fiance and I have 1 pekegnese and 2 cats that keep us very busy! I'd like to lose down to my goal weight and graduate before we consider expanding our family. I used to scrapbook avidly and teach scrapbooking, but really have little time for it these days. I'm so glad to have found LBT, its been a priceless tool in this weightloss journey! Kristin

I'm not crazy about vegetables...
legallyKristin replied to cashley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh wow! I thought I was the only one! If I try to eat salad, I end up spitting it back at the person across from me. I think it's the textures. I can eat VERY WELL COOKED squash, carrots, green beans, peas and corn. That's about it. If a tiny piece of lettuce ends up on my food I swear I can taste it, even if my entire family argues with me that it has no taste! Guess I'll check out the Diet V8 Splash! Kristin
