Members Being Banded In March 06
legallyKristin replied to vlb11752's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yup sounds exactly like what I had until I started on Mushies. You're not taking in much substance, so not much substance left to exit. So those of us banded in early March, is everyone ready for their first fill??? I can't wait. My appetite is almost exactly what it was before surgery. Except for the fact that I cannot eat a toasted bagel. The stuck feeling is not a good one. Kristin -
Just be careful with Meridia, if you are on any Seritonin Uptake-Inhibitors (i.e. Effexor XR) it can cause an OPPOSITE effect because it works on the same neural transmittors. It made me EAT anything I could find. I ended up gaining 5 lbs in the 2 weeks I took it. Kristin

I've still got a lot of head issues to work on, I've found out since I have no restriction. I ate pizza today. 2 slices with no problem. Probably in less than 10 minutes. I just hope that the fill will work and I haven't spent $11,000 in vain. I just need the help I was getting from the band before the swelling went down. Now I'm staying so hungry and I never get full. It's just like it was before surgery. Tell me this gets better?

Thanks Tricia. Finals are upon me and my head has been buried in my books! kristin

Bucky did do a country song. It was Gary Allen's "The Best I Ever Had" released in May of 2005. And it was VERY out of tune at the beginning because he couldn't find his key. It wasn't his worst performance, but it wasn't his best by far. I hate to say it but my girl Mandisa was probably the worst last night. And Kellie did well style wise, but was hit-and-miss on the notes for "Fancy". I don't think anyone really stood out last night overall. Maybe Elliot or Katherine. I just wish Katherine had picked a more popular song. I think Ace may be going home. I'm glad, I won't have to look at his soap opera performances anymore. Kristin

I switched to the Wish Center after my insurance denied me with the one doctor that they had tentatively approved in TX. I figured if I was going to pay that much, I wasn't going to drive 3 hours to the office, so I went with the Wish Center where I live. That being said, I only had to do pre-op stuff with the Wish Center for 4 weeks because I was already pretty close to all their surgery requirements. Kristin

C247.5 (-2) Woohoo! I lost the 2 lbs I gained last week. If I can just maintain until my first fill in 2 weeks!! Kristin -
Hey, you never know. There are some DAMN good photoshoppers outthere. lol. :ban: Kristin

I am an avid photshopper, and I don't think so. I don't think it's her nether regions we're seeing, I think it's a shadow on her abs. Her hands are too purposefully posed on the top hem of the dress to be fabricated, IMHO. :ban: Kristin

Wish Center covers monthly support groups, all the post-op visits, continuous access to a nutritionist and exercise person. The only thing not included is fills- $105 w/out fluoro, and $205 with. :ban: Kristin

LAMO DeLarla! I think she should have stuck to modeling. I wouldn't have to hear her sing or talk. :ban: Kristin

I'm with P'Nut- I LOVE the tuna salad kits. They also make chicken salad kits. I always carry one with me in my backpack in case I need it. I'm with you on the camping stuff. We ride 4 wheelers and so I'm usually taking Protein bars, tuna, cheese sticks, Jello, applesauce, bananas and Water, lots and lots of water. And of course a good bottle of vodka/tequila. Do you ever feel like a lush since all your friends are drinking beer and you hit the hard stuff? lol. I usually mix vodka with light cranberry juice in a cup so I don't have to answer too many questions. HAVE FUN! :ban: Kristin

I loved phentermine. I lost 100 lbs doing that and Adkins 2 years ago. Of course I gained 80 back, which is why I got my band last month. If you can get a prescription for phentermine and don't have any health problems, it should help you. I loved the extra energy in the morning and it really helped control the appetite. Although I think after being on it for 12 months I got a little addicted. :ban: Kristin

I'm with ya dongger. I'm 4 weeks out and I let my tummy growl a lot these days. And last night I finally got so hungry I caved into temptation and ate lasagna that was being served at my meeting...even though I had a healthier dinner packed. If you find anything that helps, let me know. I have considered calling my doc to ask for phenteramine, but I doubt she'd prescribe it. :ban: Kristin

$10,700 here in San Antonio. There is another thread about it. It is the Wish Center. :ban: Kristin

Can you believe this dress?? I would kill to have a body like that, but I don't think I'd advertise it at prom. Now that ya'll have pointed out her minx-like ways with Chris, I hope now more than ever she goes! That's just wrong!! :ban: Kristin

Gone for Good Club - April 2006
legallyKristin replied to PhotoNut's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey guys! I'm a little slow getting to the April board, but here I am! I'm still teetering between 246 and 249 and I'm 16 days from my first fill!! Thank God! My appetite has come back with a vengence! So what has everyone else done to battle the time change blues? I usually exercise in the morning around 5:45 before class, but I haven't even been able to get out of bed until an hour after that since the change. I need my butt kicked, I know! Hope everyone is having a great week!! :ban: Kristin -

Grr. My doc makes me wait 6 weeks MINIMUM! I'm scheduled for my first fill April 20th. I'm already eating soft foods and about a cup. I've gained 2 lbs. Kristin -
WHY do I have to wait so long to get my first fill?!?!?! C 249.5 (+2) Kristin

Eating solids 2 weeks after surgery
legallyKristin replied to lambchops's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey lambchops, I'm with you and Mini Me! I was suppossed to be on mushies for 2 weeks before advancing to soft foods and I did them for like 4 days. Let us know what your doc says! Kristin -
My abs were sore, they felt like I had done about 1,000 crunches. I wouldn't say really much pain, just very sore. Kristin

What kind of protein dink is everyone drinking?
legallyKristin replied to willybe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
unjury chocolate with skim milk and 1/2 banana. The unjury is AWESOME, it doesn't have that nasty Protein smell/taste. www.unjury.com Kristin -
Constantly hungry - will it go away?
legallyKristin replied to daybyday's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Daybyday- I'm right there with you girl! Friday was my friend's 30th birthday and I actually ate cake. I had been doing so good because I wasn't hungry but now that I'm almost 3 weeks out I'm staying hungry and never getting the "full" feeling that I was getting before. I just keep reminding myself that I can make it 3 more weeks!! -
Sigh. The swelling from my surgery must be gone. I am staying hungry like I was before surgery. I ate about half my plate last nite at Pei Wei. And I've actually gained 2 lbs since last week. I'm just praying that this hunger goes away after my first fill. Grr...but it's not until April 20th. I wish I could do something to curb appetite until then. Kristin

Yes, Dody pointed out that I was mistaken earlier. I think you're right, it's wonderful that younger teens are able to be banded and head off problems early. I was apparently misinformed by a surgeon who doesn't do them because he doesn't believe that they would be able to handle the dramatic behavioral changes associated with the band. I didn't agree with the surgeon, but that's what I was told when I initially looked into the band about 3 years ago. I think it is absolutely wonderful!! I shudder when I look at my high school graduation pictures and remember how miserable it was. If anyone can do something within their power to avoid that, then there should be no obstacle in their path to freedom, health and happiness. Kristin
