Ok, I'm a newbie here too. Short and sweet, I think that you should be allowed to be your own self moderator. Which means: 1) The ability to delete your own posts 2) The ability to edit your own posts 3) Deleting or Editing anything not involving your own words would be wrong (i.e. deleting an entire thread which contains replies from others, even though you created it) *UNLESS you are a moderator. That's what moderators are for. My biggest concern is that threads like GFG club and others that update on the first page will become ineffective as a tool in our weight loss journey. I'm very unlikely to dig through 10 pages of posts to find the most recent update. I look at the first page for the update and then go to the last few pages to catch up and post. Just my humble, probably useless opinion. Kristin

Thanks for bringing it up, I just ordered it on Amazon. I'll let you know what I think! lol Kristin

Members Being Banded In March 06
legallyKristin replied to vlb11752's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got my first fill today. The doc called it "agressive"- 2cc in 4cc band under flouro. It was really cool watching it all on the monitor and didn't hurt, just felt weird. I'm on Clear liquids 3 days, then full liquids for 3 days and so on. I hate drinking my meals. Oh well, maybe the scale will start moving!! -
www.votefortheworst.com That's how miss pickler is still here-IMHO.

I got my first fill today! It was weird, but really cool because the doc let me watch him do it on the monitor. WEIRD. Anywhoo. I now have 2cc in a 4cc band. As he calls it, an agressive fill, since I told him I could eat a 6" sub sandwich. Anywhoo, since it's "agressive" I have to do 3 days of clear liquid and advancing each step after 3 days. That sucks, but hopefully the scale will move for next week!!! Welcome to all the new members! Kristin -
I am glad Ace is gone, but too bad it wasn't Kellie. I could have stood for more soap opera stares if it meant I didn't have to hear her droan on, "whaaat?? Huuuhh?? *giggle* *giggle" I think the love songs will finally get rid of Kellie though. Kristin

I'm with Dianechef. I've always been a very confident woman, but my body image doesn't match up. My fiance is constantly telling me how beautiful I am (as I'm sure your husband does) and I just don't know what to say, because I don't believe it. I brought this up to my therapist at the end of my session and she said that we could talk about it next week, so if I find anything exciting out, I'll be sure to pass it along. Kristin

No Fill, Restricted, 3 weeks Post-op, Liquid Diet
legallyKristin replied to kabeerah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow. That sounds like you need to talk to your surgeon JellyBean (by the way, that's my cat's name!). Those are definately not symptoms you should normally be experiencing. I have only gotten the "stuck" feeling a few times when I ate too fast and didn't chew. It hurt like hell for about 2-3 minutes and then went away after a few sips of Water. Kristin -
Better than protein powder. Protein powder that tastes good and doesn't have that gross texture/smell. I love the chocolate with skim milk and 1/2 banana! Kristin

Neosporin brand makes the patches as well, I think they give you like a 6 week supply of them for $20. Got mine at Target. I'm just 6 weeks out, so I haven't started using them yet per doctor's orders.

P'Nut, as usual you are completely right. IMHO, some of us don't want to get too excited about this new body because over and over again, we have lost the weight only to see if creep back on. It's so disheartening to gain it back, and I would eat away the depression. It's a constant struggle to remind outselves that these inner demons are the ones that got us fat in the first place. My advice, take LOTS of pictures. Seeing yourself in the mirror is nothing like staring at a picture of yourself. Take lots of pictures of yourself and recognize that you really are the person in the image. P'Nut and Dianechef- Both of your pictures are truly beautiful. Congratulations on such great success. And be thankful that you know that the problem is there and you're trying to address it. Admitting that you have this disconnect is the first step in the healing process. (and yes, I was a therapist before I was a law student) Kristin -
Thank you for the reply giveyoutothemoon. I have dealt with bulemia since I was a freshman in high school. I haven't done the whole purging part much since getting engaged a year ago though. But I still did the binging (hence why I needed WLS). I didn't really associate the effects of that with the fact that I still feel like I have to eat as much as I can, even with the band. I guess I knew, but I didn't really want to put 2 and 2 together. Sigh, maybe my therapist can help. I've never told her or anyone besides my fiance about the previous problems. Anywhoo. Thanks for making me look at things a little differently. Kristin

No Fill, Restricted, 3 weeks Post-op, Liquid Diet
legallyKristin replied to kabeerah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh my gosh! You are doing great! And still on liquids at 3 weeks! WOW! I was supposed to do them for a week, and I caved in at day 6. Some people never have to have a fill, the band does enough for them. Just make sure that you try to get your calories and Protein in, because if you don't get enough your body will go into starvation mode and you WON'T lose weight. Plus, I'm pretty sure-as you said- it wouldn't be healthy since you are still nursing. You are one strong woman to still be on liquids at 3 weeks! Kristin -

Count me in on the challenge, I need something to make me get up early to exercise. This week has not been good on the exercise front. Hence the following weight loss: C 245.0 (-.8 this week) -
Hey guys, I'm a little worried about my first fill coming up Thursday. I'm ready for the fill, but I have finals coming up in a week and so I'll be spending all day, every day with my study group. We all bring a food item to share with everyone. However, there is a meeting planned for Friday...only 1 day after my fill. No one knows I've got the band, and I'm supposed to do 24 hr liquids, then 24 hrs of the others until I get back to solids. If I bring a healthy tuna salad, would that be off limits that soon after my first fill? ANY suggestions are much appreciated! Kristin

I was banded 3/8/06 and I still have th weird muscle feeling there. And pain when my jeans are squishing me too much. I get my first fill Thursday, so hopefully my jeans won't be too tight for very long!! Kristin

You are looking wonderful!! I hope I have as good a success story a year from now as you do! P.S. If anyone else ever needs help with pics, I love playing with photoshop! Kristin

Band Veterans: 1 Cup of Food Too Much?
legallyKristin replied to NeenBand's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
leenerbups...you're doing good if you're only eating a cup. I am pretty much back where I was pre-band. I'm over a month out with no fill yet and I'm probably eating 2 cups. 1 cup just won't fill me up. Just keep up the exercise and make good eating choices and the scales will still move! Kristin -
Definately! I used to be 298 and in a 8.5W, at 247 I'm now in an 8W, but when I was 215 I was in a 7.5M. Only 30 more lbs to go!!
-
That is great mini_me! And I don't think that is too small of a goal. Little victories are great. I'm eagerly waiting to be to 239. Usually when I get to the 230s I'm in a size 18, so little goals are good! But now when I get to 199.9 I'm buying myself a NEW IPOD NANO!! YAH! Now, if I could just get my first fill (I was banded before you! GRR!!! I'm starving! Stupid doctor's rules) maybe I could speed up these goals! Congrats on the weightloss! Kristin

Give me your best "how I did it" lines!
legallyKristin replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love that Jonathan! And the tapeworm! TOO Funny! After "sinus" surgery (aka my band) I told everyone the anesthesia made me lose my appetite, which is why I dropped 20 lbs. Now I just tell them I'm trying to follow South Beach. For the younger crowd, trendy diets seem to do the trick. Thyroid problems work too. I'm like some of you here, if people knew they would analyze everything I ate. It's just people's natural curiosity. Now if someone asked me because they seemed to be in the same situation I was in, I would probably tell them in confidence. I'm proud of my decision to take control of my life, but I don't think that my decision should be publicized for public scrutiny by those who have never been in a similar situation. -
I'm with ya skbishop78. I think it will be Ace, Bucky and Katherine in the bottom 3. HOPEFULLY Ace will go home. Although he didn't give as many "soap opera" stares last nite as he usually does. Thank God! Kristin

I had plateaued until I discovered Billy Blakes this week. He is the Tae Bo guy. But he has a program out called Billy's Boot Camp that comes with resistance bands. I'm having to alternate him and Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies because I can barely sit down or stand up after Billy kicked my butt! But definately a good, do-able workout. Kristin -

I agree...I don't think it had a thing to do with weight. She chose bad songs. I'll have to agree with Simon on this one. Kristin
