    Are you enjoying the ride??

I know exactly what you mean, ToBeFree. Hope. Physically my body has taken a toll, but mentally it's been far worse. I only wish this had been available to me 15 years ago. I could have lived my life with my head held high. I've done many good things with my life so far, things I'd never take back, but now I intend to live life to my fullest, and I'm so grateful I've been given this new opportunity.

    Who's Getting Banded in July?

Oops, I noticed I'm on as July 22 - unfortunately my date was changed! So July 29 is definitely my surgery date.

    Who's Getting Banded in July?

Please add me to the list - July 29!
  4. I'm approved through insurance but am currently thinking of moving up my surgery date from July 29 to mid-June. I will be leaving the country for Italy on July 2 and staying for two weeks, which would give me two weeks after I get banded to prepare for the trip. For those post-lap banders, would that have been too soon to travel? If I wait until July 29 I'll have to start a new job soon after I get my band, which sounds much more stressful to me. Of course, I don't want to travel two weeks after surgery if it's not realistic.

    Who's Getting Banded in July?

I *think* I'm getting banded the 22nd. I asked if they had anything earlier, and they picked a day that I'm leaving the country (July 2) and I said I had to turn it down... they haven't yet called back with another date so I assume I'm still the 22nd. I CAN'T BELIEVE I FINALLY GOT APPROVED! I managed to get around the 6 month requirement by providing my Weight Watchers records to Humana - CAN'T BELIEVE they let me do that! Yay, my life is about to restart!

What the H*LL is wrong with me!

Regarding the carbs, the answer must might be that whenever you eat a carb, you retain Water rather than actually gain fat. Carbs - even good carbs - make your body retain water. I assume with this that you're not making whole meals out of carbs, because if you are, it could actually be fat gain. I know that whenever I've gone on low carb diets, all it took was a little bit of bread to make the scale jump, but it was never a long term gain if I just ate reasonably. So don't worry - it's probably just water. Just eat carbs in very small portions and you should be fine!
