    Which Band Is Better?

jbflorida - My surgery date is next week. I see that you're on week 5 post-op. What have you had to eat today so far?
  2. Hello - my surgery date is 6/25. Any tips on what I should avoid during the first week of liquids?
  3. I've been undecided who to tell at work AFTER I get banded on 6/25. This message thread has certainly helped me with that decision. I've told 2 people at work that are close .... and now I know for sure that it will stay that way! THANK YOU everyone! Katie - I also think you should just have a one-on-one with those that you feel are offensive to you. Do it nicely though, because I'm sure they don't know that what they're saying it hurtful. Brenda
  4. To be on the safe side, you should call your doctor ASAP! You're still a "young-un", but the symptoms you're describing sound heart related since the pain is going up into the jawline. Don't wait - call and rule it out!
  5. Despite my weight, I'm fairly active. I golf, bowl, garden, travel - and photography and scrapbooking are my hobbies. I can hardly wait to loose the weight to make all of that easier. I'm also the team captain for our company MS150 bike team - next year my goal is to RIDE the event rather than just organize it. It's a 180 mile Houston to Austin trek.
  6. I start my liquid diet on June 13th as well. 3 times a day - a "meal" of 1 Adkins Shake, fresh or cooked vegetables and cup of broth. What will your pre-op diet be like?
  7. Hi Texas Gal - Dr. Waggoner is my Doc and the surgery will be at the North Cypress Medical Center on 290. I really like him - he does both the lapband and gastric by pass procedures. When I met with him and asked him tons of questions (after reading this forum for a couple of weeks) the culmination of our meeting and my decision to proceed with the lapband is because I asked him which procedure was his choice method. After careful thought and saying it was a hard questions to answer, he said that if a member of his family was to have weight loss surgery, he would recommend the lapband. I'm a self-pay and mine is costing $15K and includes 1 year of post op doctor visits. How about you?
  8. Hi Onnie - My surgery is scheduled for June 25th, and I too am looking for a buddy (or buddies) to go through this with and compare notes. I'm nervous, excited, anxious ..... it has been a real roller coaster, but I just keep looking back at my weight loss attempts and up and down roller coaster and feel confident that I'm doing the right thing. I'm cleaning out my closet tomorrow and fully expect to become a "clothes whore" in about six months.... ha .... hope I didn't offend anyone with that comment!

    Very Excited

My surgery date is one day before you, on June 25th. I'll be looking for your posts on the forum to see how your experience is. I start the liquid diet on 6/13. I don't think it will be any big deal though. I did Medifast for 3 months last year - so I think I know what to expect.
  10. I love this forum. I read and read and read and it help me decide to go the lapband route. My surgery date is 6/25 -self pay. I'm excited and nervous. And .... I'm cleaning out my closet this weekend. Will I really wear what I haven't been able to wear in years after I loose the weight? Heck no! I'll get some new stuff!
