  1. I really had my doubts as well but I can hosnestly say Dr. Aceves and his staff and the Hospital were awesome. I could not have been more pleased with the whole experience from beginning to end. Mexicali is a border town and initially on arrival I was a little skeptical but once I entered the hospital I was at ease. It is small but far nicer than most of the hospitals in the states and cleaner than any I have ever worked in. Trust me as a nurse of twenty four years I've seen plenty. I've also done travel nursing so I seen my share including those inside and outside of Georgia. As a patient you are treated as a guest and not a number. They go far beyond your expectations. As for me I'm 5 days post-op and down 8 lbs!!!!! Don't even miss food right now. Just a little gassy but that will pass. I'm sick and tired of Gas-x. There was a lady there when I was there from Toronto that had the sleeve but I didn't get her email address. Maybe she's around and will give some input as well.

  2. Just returned from Mexicali being banded by Dr. Aceves. Can't say anything but positive things about the whole experience. Being a nurse for over twenty years I know good care. The care received pre and post-operatively was superb. The hospital was immaculate, cleaner than any hospital I have ever worked in here in the states. Dr. Aceves is personable (no God syndrome) and his staff is quite knowlegeable. My only grief was the plane ride home. Sitting in the center seat for four hours was hell!! Any questions please email.

  3. Surgery was Tuesday by Dr. Aceves, came home last night. Let me begin by giving kudos to Dr. Aceves and his magnificient staff and hospital. If anyone has any doubts abouts going to Mexico to Dr. Aceves please email me. I've been a nurse for 24 years now and never have I seen such an imaculate hospital. Dr. Aceves and his staff are awesome. After surgery I was visited by Dr. Aceves and his assistants several times throughout the day. In the states you wouldn't see your surgeon until the next day! If you had problems the PA may call the nurse back (please don't impose on the MD).

As for the surgery, it went well. I too had a hiatal hernia that was repaired during the procedure. Only complaints is gas, other than that all is well. I'm struggling to get my fluids in because I have no appetite. I hope that doesn't return (wishful thinking). Looking forward to being a normal size again!!!

  4. Hi everyone,

I like alot of newbies have been peeking in for awhile now gathering all the information I could. I'm committed now and looking forward to my independence from this weight. I will be banded by Dr. Aceves on July 1, 2008!!!!!! Presently my bmi is 38 and I've tried every diet imaginable. In fact I started dieting at about 170 lbs and I now am up to 230-240. I scale shy so I'm not exact. Monday I start my pre-op diet so I'll be looking for ideas. Briefly a little about myself; 49 years young, a registered nurse, 3 children and 2 grandkids, a wonderful supportive husband, and a dog (a havanese).

I'll be active now that I've made my introduction. Oh yeah, I live in Atlanta.
