    Post-surgery Eating

My advice would be to follow what your nutritionist and Dr. recommend but also listen to your body. You will be having a challenge just meeting liquid and protein goals. In the first week I'd say liquid>protein since you dehydrate quick. I was pretty much sipping on something all day those first few weeks since my stomach was full relatively fast. I drank a lot of clear protein drinks, broth and sugar free pops my first week which was clear and the second week I ate protein shakes, thin soups and more pops. My program wanted 62 ounces liquid and 60 grams protein. Don't worry about having a giant variety of stuff since you will probably not like or not want much of it. I bought several kinds of soups and only really liked 2 of them. The rest are still in the cabinet.

    Food Before and After Photos

1/4 cup 1% cottage cheese with 1 ounce deli ham and everything but the bagel seasoning. 12 grams of protein and 78 calories. First time trying it this morning and think it might replace the poached egg I've been having lol Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Menstruation Disappeared post op

I had surgery same day as you! My period came a day after surgery on time then this month I was a week late. I think with the weight loss its normal to be a little off. Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. I love spicy food and my palate is a little more sensitive after surgery. I cook a lot of different Asian foods for myself but try to tweak them to cut out sugar/carbs. It helps to satisfy the craving without caving. I made curried meatballs the other night and for the sauce I substituted the usual cream with greek yogurt and could honestly not tell the difference. The only thing I missed was the Naan bread lol Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. I won't miss feeling exhausted before I even get out the door. I won't miss not being in pictures with my daughter instead of just taking pictures of her. I won't miss feeling trapped by my body when trying to plan any event or trip. I won't miss making excuses as to why I decline an invitation to something since I'm too embarrassed to say it's because I'm too fat to do it. I won't miss looking at myself with disinterest and accepting the limitations I put on myself as all that there is. Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Protein Water Question

I love the flavored protein waters to top off my protein if I didn't quite make my protein goal at the end of the day. I find the shakes sit better in the morning on an empty stomach but by the end of the day it can be heavy. So long as you take your vitamins and are getting in protein, I don't see why not.

    Espresso w/premier shake Post op

I buy cold brew iced coffee and add 1/2 cup fairlife milk and some no sugar caramel syrup. I read the cold brew had less acid than regular coffee and so far it sits just fine. Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Newly sleeved

first week home don't worry about calories just focus on fluids. your stomach is probably still swollen from surgery so just getting fluid in is a challenge. over time fluids are easy and other food is harder. did your surgeon send you home with a diet plan? if so I would just stick to that for now. some of the things they give in the hospital might be a bit different than what they expect at home.
  10. Right after surgery in recovery the anesthesiologist gave me a nerve block injection in my abdomen which i think is supposed to last 24 hours. I didn't need any pain medication while in the hospital and didn't need the Vicodin i was sent home with. I was a little sore/uncomfortable but not painful. Maybe that injection is something to discuss with your Dr.
  11. My nutritionist had given a few choices of chewable bariatric brands or doubling the adult dose of regular multi vitamins with iron. I tried the bariatric fusion, bariatric pal, centrum adult and finally Flintstones with iron. The fusion were just too often and too big, the bariatric pal had this chalkyness that made me gag, the centrum were ok but still a lot to do two at once so I had to split the dose and the Flintstones were just right. VSG PostOp Bad Experience

It sounds like a terrible ordeal you had to suffer through but I'm glad to hear the happy ending. My port incisions are also a little sensitive and sore sometimes. I think its part of the healing process though. Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
