How many stalls have you had in your journey?
DaisyAndSunshine replied to DaisyAndSunshine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I hope your stall has broken by now. Not sure of your stats so not sure which stage of the journey you're at. Stalls vary depending on various stages and reasons. -
How many stalls have you had in your journey?
DaisyAndSunshine posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I have hit a stall. It's been about 3 weeks and scale isn't moving. I know stalls are a norm but damn they are frustrating. 😂 I was just curious, how many such significant stalls did you come across during your weight loss phase? (Definitely more a question for those who are already a year or 2 post-Op). -
Probably could be a stall. My last stall was when my BMI was about 33ish (last month, my month 5). Lasted 3 weeks or so until scale started moving yet again this month, month 6. Since you're month 10, I am sure weight loss slows down too closer to a year of surgery. Like the above poster suggested, try play around with calories and exercises and see if it makes a difference. It can get frustrating when you still haven't come close to the goal but hang in there and hope scale starts cranking again.

What's your BMI? I guess it depends how close you are to your normal weight. Closer the goal, more the stalls from what I have read out here.

Skyr, a type of yogurt, this has been my go to protein food item and has been for the last 6 months being vegetarian and all. I don't consume protein powders or shakes and get most of my protein from Skyr and other vegetarian food groups.

How often do you guys weigh yourselves?
DaisyAndSunshine replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same, every morning after I am done with my business. Weighing everyday is motivation for me for sure. And mentally I get the strength to keep going. Of course during stalls it can get a tad bit frustrating too but I don't beat myself up because back of mind I know that is to be expected and things will start moving again. So yes, every morning indeed works like a charm for me physically and mentally. -
Do you ever "forget" you had surgery?
DaisyAndSunshine replied to lizonaplane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hunger came back right after 1 month post-Op. So I do get hungry too, may be not as often as you, but every few hours I get hungry and I make sure to eat around there. At times, I don't make it to the food either cuz of my schedule or other reasons but I tolerate it fine. I have done intermittent fasting in the past and being hungry doesn't bother me much that I have to have to eat it. Yeh it may be bothersome and may intensify your cravings, but may be try eating to your schedule only and the amount you're allowed per your routine. Rest of the time, ignore your hunger signals by distracting yourself. Hope your surgical center and you find your way through. -

Search up "three week stall" and you'll come across many posts by many of us having had such stalls right after surgery. I have had one a week after post-Op and stayed for some good 3 weeks before scale started responding again. My 5 month stall also lasted about 3 weeks and just few days back it finally broke. -
November Surgery Buddies!!!
DaisyAndSunshine replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeh I felt the same. I tried to increasing/decreasing calories and exercise routine but nothing helped. Similar routine and all of a sudden scale started moving. 🤷🏻♀️ So it seems like such stalls will come and go and changing anything in your routine won't help much. At least that's my experience too. -

Finally the stall has broken and scale started moving again. Hoping it continues to trend down and next stall is far far away 😂 -

@Spinoza @gmast99 I am right there with you two, in a stall 😂 This month was slow to begin with and now have stalled for the last 2 weeks bouncing up and down between 158 and 159 😒 Seems like there is a thing called 5th or 6th stall 😂😂 It's very similar to the 3 week one majority of us have had right after the surgery. Just waiting now for the damn scale to move and get the downward spiral to kick start yet again. -
So it's been about 6 days Post-Op and almost painless. Though I still have a big purple bruising around the umbilicus. So I wandering how long does it take for most of the bruising to go away? Also have you done anything extra to take care of the scars so they can subside earlier and better? Hope to hear from the experienced folks here! 😊

Xylitol is a natural Sweetener and many Keto folks use it as stage substitute. But for some, it acts like a laxative and not tolerable. I am one such person. A spoon of xylitol is all is takes for my inside to start running. I was super constipated and my daily docusate didn't help. I tried miralax but it ended up giving me cramps and felt not so good. So decided to try xylitol and bam it did the trick. I keep using fiber supplement, do eat veggies/fruits (mostly pineapple) but milk/yogurt/cheese high protein diet does it for me and I continue getting constipated. I don't know what else I can do to have normal bowel movements since I do all I can along with walking most of the days 🤷🏻♀️ Any other means of solving this issue? Have you tried xylitol? I am sure daily use of xylitol isn't advisable but may be once a week use may be fine to get you the needed relief? May ask my nutritionist on my next appt but that's more than month away.

Slow Losers Club…..officially *sigh*
DaisyAndSunshine replied to TheWeightisOvr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yup, slow loser right here too or at least I do count myself one. 210 surgery date weight 1st month - 18 pounds 2nd month - 10 pounds 3rd month (Feb) - 7.6 pounds 4th month - about 12 pounds And in my 5th month now: Half way through and only have lost about 3 pounds 😂 (I have stalled for more than a week now). Let's see how this month ends. So yeh, more or less I do think I am slow loser with stalls here and there. And yes it does get to you but seeing many others talk about it, I am being hopeful that I'll eventually get there. -

Damn these scars. Wish there was a laproscopic way for plastics too 😂 Oh well, tummy tuck scar can be hidden well but for arms, it'll always be noticeable eh 🥲 Thanks for detailed description, may be if you're comfortable you can post pics under your profile or something one day. -

@ms.sssSince you're most active here, thought to ask you here. I think it's been over an year since your plastics. I was just wondering how are you scars doing? Are they still noticeable or have they faded significantly? -
liquid diet :( lol
DaisyAndSunshine replied to liveaboard15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Liquid diet, first 3 days are difficult or at least they were for me and had me browsing YouTube for various kinds of food recipes and food videos 😂 But beyond 3 or 4 days, it gets a lot easier. Tru flavoring your shakes. I used to use " instant decaf coffee, peppermint/spreamint extract" with my chocolate shakes. Vanilla I didn't like it much so I got less of those. With Vanilla you can try similar flavoring with coffee and/or orange, strawberry extract or try Crystal light flavoring with it". Shake, flavoring, ice and churn then all together and it's yummm. I still miss those shakes at times 😂 -
Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
DaisyAndSunshine replied to chiquitatummy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When some of your favorite outfits, that have been patiently waiting in your closet, start to come out and enjoy life yet again right alongside with you 🥰 😂 I had forgotten how easy a task it is to put on the socks at this weight. The return of the same feeling of ease. The joy is something else. Can't believe I had to wait this long for so many such little joys of life. -
How soon after surgery did you risk trying raw veggies?
DaisyAndSunshine replied to FutureSylph's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
4 months out and yet to try raw salads. I don't crave it nor am I huge fan of it. So haven't tried much. My program allowed it after 3 months mark as long as we are able to tolerate it. Only thing raw I eat are onions with my curries, that too just a little. -

Does the carbonation not bother you? And Yassssss to having lost similar and similar remaining goal #. Hope we get there without going too crazy 😂 And 10 to 11 pounds for remaining time sounds goodie good at least till we reach the BMI of 28ish. I am sure it'll slow down as we crawl closer to normal BMI. -
VSG to RNY - Not excited
DaisyAndSunshine replied to stpatty's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I think I mentioned this on another thread, but surgery has helped a ton with my binge eating habits. Yes, it's a lot to do with your mental health and your head needs to be fixed but surgery is a huge add-on fighting this battle. For personal reasons, I never opted for any therapy and as I mentioned previously I still had binging episodes right before starting my pre-Op. So for me to say out here that I am in CONTROL is very significant. I have yet to have food or restaurants call me out for some midnight tours. I of course don't want to undermine the significance of therapy, but at the same time I also don't want to say that surgery won't help. At least it did in my case. It can either be due to the hormonal changes or your mindset rewiring around a new lifestyle, but it surely helps. -

DaisyAndSunshine replied to stpatty's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
And we had no clue of your bias 😂 Complications for MGB and RYN may be similar since they both deal with bypass aspect. MGB may be more cuz of higher amount of bypass? As for reversible aspect, surgeons don't advise reversing any such procedure unless of course needed. Even with RYN, reversing is possible since your bypassed stomach is still within you. As for higher weight loss, I think it comes from the fact that more intestine is bypassed than RYN. But eventually they both do provide substantial weight loss overall. -
Regrets...anyone?
DaisyAndSunshine replied to 18kDays's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only 4 months out so not sure if my take counts per se. Of course it's a long run battle but so far the journey has been pretty darn good and not at all concerning. Only regret, as mentioned by many others out here, is NOT getting it sooner 😭 -
November Surgery Buddies!!!
DaisyAndSunshine replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
LMFAO Noooooo! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I would be dead with that kinda # 🤣 May be I worded it wrong lol. I meant I am down to 161.6, that's my current weight. You can see my #s in my profile. Heighest weight 234. Surgery weight 210. And at the end of 4 months 161.6. I had only lost about 7 pounds in the month of Feb and basically was on the slower side of weight loss hence 13 pounds last month has been pretty good for my pace. -

And it's the end of month 4 for me 🥳 Last month was so much better in terms of weight loss and finding out the kinda schedule that works for consistency. I clocked in 13 pounds last month and I am down to 161.6 - Still a long way to go, but couldn't have been happier with what I have achieved so far. I hope everyone else is doing just as good or even better. 🤗
