  1. Hello, so I was set on wanting to use Bariatricpal once a day multivitamin but cost of shipping is more than the cost of 3 months of supply. So I am back on square one and not sure which brand to go with. Anyone from Canada? Which brand of supplements did you use, easily accessible for Canada, specifically Ontario?

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

How very glad to hear you're still doing great and almost there to your goal. I have kinda stalled for the last 2 months or so. But it's also cuz I have been travelling and wasn't following the plan to the T. I do want to lose another 10 or 15. Let's see if I make it. I am kinda happy with 120 but a bit wary of the 10-20 pounds bounce that can happen in year 2 or 3. Hence, I want to make myself steady around 105 or so, so even if I were to gain a little, I'll be alright.
  3. Horrible quality of life - That's what got me to do it. Anxiety, Depression and eating disorder had taken over my life. I lost out on a youthful decade of mine and last 5 or 6 years were the worse of the worst. I legit stopped living, didn't feel like doing much of anything social. My life was more or less my family, that's all. I had isolated myself away from friends, work and anything to do with life per se. Life had legit stopped and seemed like a vicious groundhogs day, I couldn't come out of. And yup, heard of WLS back in 2017, but didn't know if I wanted it for myself given the *easy way out* outlook of WLS. But finally gave in and I am so effing glad I did. I couldn't be more than grateful. I mentioned this before, WLS has legit blew a new life in me. I just feel super blissful to be where I am today and look a certain way I always dreamt of in the past. Dreams can become reality and WLS has proven that. So yes, for me it was the fact that I was giving up on life, which I didn't want to.

    1 month post-Op work out/Exercise?

Hi there, So I am 1 month post-Op and I am looking to incorporate various ways of exercising. First month, I had no energy or stamina to even walk on a treadmill. But now I can do about 35 mins of medium paced walking. Question is - How did your work out routine looked beyond this point in your journey? I am not much of a gym person. Not a huge fan of the environment and with COVID and Omicron, don't even want to try it. May be later, I may but for now I'll like to stay active at home. I have a treadmill and a stationary bike at home. Some dumbbells, abs rollerand also resistance bands. I think I should be able to use these equipments to stay active. But still want to find out from others how did your activity levels looked like 1 month post-Op and beyond?
  5. So I had my appointment with my dietician and it got me curious to know what are average maintenance calories for RNY-ers. Those who are in maintenance, can you note down your calories here so I can have an idea how to gradually increase my calories. Thank you

    Bariatric friendly alcoholic drinks?

So I tried *red wine* at home, about 0.33 of a cup or so. I think I did okay. Yes it did get me buzzed just with that amount lol. So I'll have to go slow when I am out and about. I don't dump on sugars or carbs so I think I should be okay with drinks as long as I keep them in small quantity.

One year PO, before & after 💕

Yayyyy to that. I can't wait to reach my surgiversary and hopefully have somewhat of a flattened stomach - The most resistive part of my body 😂 Congrats on your achievement and may you keep going upward in life from here on. "Living life and not just existing" - Wow and WOW. I am sure so many of us relate to this newly blown zeal for life. 🥰🤗

    Was my surgery successful?

I never lost my hunger either. Only the first 2 weeks or so because of the recovery. I always got hunger signals after 2 weeks or so. And I am actually grateful for the signals since I usually eat only when I get those signals. It felt natural and appropriate for me to follow my physical hunger cues than otherwise. One should definitely not rely on not being hungry to lose weight. Yes it helps many who don't get those cues. But many of us will have physical hunger. Long term success is training your head around the new life style. Trust me, being diligent will help you stay on track in the long run. I wish you all the best.

    Pcos after gastric sleeve

Can you update your latest weight? I am not sure if you're at a normal BMI. It took me almost 6 months post-op to get my period naturally and ovulate (also a fellow PCOS-er). So I suppose it's different for different individuals.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Definitely - At it still everyday. I would have been content if my belly fat wasn't sticking out as much. Plus I am quite petite so it just looks not very flattering on short stature. So will try my best to get the last 20 down and see how it goes. Now I think I am alright putting in extra workout routine and see if it helps with definition. Let's work at it together as always 😂
  11. Being able to fit in medium to small and even extra small sizes 😳😳 It's baffles me everytime.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Back on a stall for the last 2 weeks - Le sigh 😭 These last few pounds need to come off given most of it being in the belly area. I feel now's the time to get a trainer or something ...
  13. I have been wanting to create a topic on my weight loss journey after having reached BMI of under 30 and not being obese anymore but thought to wait it out so I can cross off other aspects from the checklist. This morning I weighted - 133.2 Lbs. Height is 4' 10.2" (148cm). BMI 27.6. Heightest weight was 234 lbs, of which I lost 15lbs pre-Op and another 10 lbs during the pre-Op diet. I was at 210 lbs on the day of the surgery. So officially I have lost 100+ lbs of my highest weight ever 🥳 This is the lowest I have ever been ever since I remember. Last lowest I remember was 137lbs, more than a decade ago, post Dr. Bernstein's weight loss program. But that weight loss program kick started the vicious cycle of yo yo dieting and wrecked metabolism, which I hopefully isn't the case anymore with much more controlled healthy eating habits. I just wanted to thank so many of the folks out here who have been extremely supportive not only on the open forum but also in DMs. During the ever so confusing beginning months, this forum came to help time and again. If not for this one, I wouldn't have known about the 3 weeks stalls. Clinic never covered this aspect of the weight loss and I definitely would have freaked if not for the knowledge I consumed out here. So thank you everyone for making this community friendly, supportive and helpful. I still have a bit more to go to achieve my goal and get under 25 and hopefully maintain around 22 or 23ish of BMI, but I'll cross the bridge when and if happens. For now, just enjoying the joy of my current physical and mental state of mind. This surgery truly has blown a new life within after wanting to give up on it time and again in the past. Truly grateful for taking in the dive. 🥰

    100+ Lbs gone! 🥳

Right back at ya Spinoza. We are still walking right by each other's side 😂 I hope we get to lose some more before we stabilize at a comfortable weight. I do want to lose may be another 30, so I can be comfortable after gaining the usual 20 lbs most do in their second or third year. Don't know if it'll be possible, but let's see how it goes few more months down the lane.

Trying to get out of my head....

I know exercise should be part of the routine but everytime I tried to incorporate more intense workout, I used to stall. So I kinda gave it a rest and relied mostly on my 45 mins of daily walk for exercise purposes. So may be, go easy on the workout routine especially this early in the weight loss phase. Once you're more settled with a certain number you can always build your physique as long as your mindset is on point. For me personally, stalls pressured into negative thinking of *what if this is it* and I won't lose anymore. Or that I'll lose slowly and then bam done losing at a weight I am uncomfortable with. This fear always hovered about and I didn't want to work against my sanity. So I decided to take lose with intense workouts. And focused mostly on eating and losing. I am at a happy place for now. And once I have reached about 120, my mindset will be so much better to form a good workout routine even if I had to up my calories. Bottom line is, try easing your workout routine.

    Telling others

Only if you want to tell, then tell, otherwise it's none of their concerns. You can just tell them you're having a hernia repair or getting your gall bladder removed. And post surgery you're just trying to eat healthy and lose weight. That's all. Clearly, it can be challenging having to tell everyone. So you do you.
  18. Yeh I understand the mechanics behind it. It's just when I did incorporate strength training, my weight loss stalled. It could be a matter of fact a temporary thing or that stall and weight training coinciding but I yeh I did stall. And frankly it started affecting me mentally how I won't reach the goal etc etc etc. Plus schedule for hectic and couldn't get into the routine. I think once I lose another 12lbs and i am hovering around 25 BMI, I'll feel more mentally equipped to kick start a more enhanced routine. For now I stick to my daily 45 mins to an hour long walks.
  19. Amazingggggg - Truly. I posted something similar today having lost 100+ lbs and it's truly liberating a feeling. Like you said, these surgeries truly open a whole new realm for us. Things that seemed impossible to achieve seem right around the corner to grab. I still have a long way to go. And I would want to lose a little more before I go the route of upping calories and building definition. I know once you start working hard core your weight loss stalls for the obvious reasons. So I just mentally want to be at a certain numbers before I let lose and incorporate heavy duty strength workout. Once again congrats and keep at it bruh.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

So the last 2 weeks or so, I was extremely busy and didn't have enough time for cooking and eating, more sedentary except for my daily 45mins of walk. I kinda was eating around 500 to 700 calories (making sure I get more than 60g of protein) AND weight still came off 🤷🏻‍♀️ So @Spinozawas saying, stalls are really not proportional to how much you eat. I guess it's all about how your body processes the input to lose the weight.
  21. It's such a bizarre feeling when you get called "gorgeous" after so many years 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dealing with the Changes... Like Loose Skin

How are the scars from the armlift? Do have the kind running down the arm?! I think I wanna get an armlift too but kinda worried about the scar situation. I still wear sleeveless dresses and don't even care about the loose skin. But it definitely doesn't look great especially when your arms are up in the air or when you're trying to pose as you have in the pic 😂

    Potatoes?

What are your thoughts on potatoes? Do you eat it or neglect it? In our Indian cuisine, many of the vegetable curries are prepared with potatoes. So there are days I would have potatoes along with other vegetables. And it of course goes towards my daily caloried intake. Anyhow, are potatoes part of your daily or weekly routine?

    Really this many pills!?

I understand those are the guidelines are you. But does it mention exact doses of supplements you may need? If that's the case you can check out Bariatric multivitamins, and these more or less includes most that you may need. I take "1 bariatric multivitamin and Vit D3". B12 and all not needed since bariatric special takes care of it. Bariatric special also has the kind with extra "iron" if that's a requirement for you (Check out Bariatricpal once a day multivitamin, I consume Naturelo brand once a day kind). Even with calcium, if you try to consume more dairy, you may be able to cut down on the calcium supplements. I don't take any extra calcium since I consume a lot of yogurt, cheese and milk (Vegetarian diet). My nut stated as long as I am getting more than 1200mg a day of calcium, I don't have to take any extra supplements. The day I am lacking, I can take calcium citrate as needed. I know calcium supplements are about half of the pills for you. If you can't cut down on those, may be try the chewables ones, so it feels like you're having chocolate or something instead of swallowing gigantic pills.
