  1. I love "Baristatic App" It's free, easy and fantastic to track your daily intake. For some reason everytime I had used MyfitnessPal, I hated it. Not sure why. May be the interphase but with Baristatic, I am on it everyday and never forget to add my entries. It also has some WLS friendly recipes for use.

learning to let go of old eating habits

I think you mentioned having an issue with dumping. Do the above foods not cause dumping anymore? Or tolerable at small amounts?

Lost weight, but don't feel good.

Okay that is kinda scary. Were you on regular dosage of Vitamin B12 or no because sleeve?

Surgery is on Monday and I'm scared.

I think everyone goes through the same fear. I had even written scheduled emails to my loved ones out of the fear of not seeing them again πŸ˜‚ I am day 11 post-Op and doing quite well. Don't worry your surgical team is there to take care of you Because of issues with schedule, no one could be at the hospital for me either and I was on my own till the next day of discharge. So don't worry, you'll swim through and make it. This was my first ever surgery and first ever experience with general anesthesia. I was almost on the verge of crying when I was outside the OR speaking to my aesthetic. Nerves will definitely get to you but keep positive thoughts and focus on why you're opting for it. Is being overweight and miserable better than facing the fear of a small percentage of risk? No right? Then don't get overwhelmed by such thoughts. Watch something breezy, sleep well and take music with you to relax till it's right for the surgery. All the very best, you got it!

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

So I lost about 12 pounds on the clear liquid phase which was for 7 days post-Op. Today is the end of day 11 and I haven't lost anything since full fluid phase. Calories are around 450 to 600 and protein around 40 to 50 grams/day. Not sure if that's too much. But yeh I am clearly on a stall and not sure when it'll start moving down. 😭
  6. So I just finished clear liquid phase for a week and now for the next 3 weeks I am on "full liquids" Though I have no hunger and most of the time I feel full and not wanting to eat. Do I still go on about eating my meals on regular intervals even if I feel kinda full? I have my dietician appointment in about 2 weeks. But till then I just have to follow the schedule.

    Baristatic App?

So I created an account yesterday and I tried logging in the food today. Seems pretty straight forward and doable an option to keep an eye on your daily intake. Plus it has a voice recording to record your menu without having to type it out and pretty accurate at that. Question - Is this App sustainable long term? Is it free to use without having to pay? How has your experience been on the App? Does it have any downside? If not, I think I have found the app to use during my journey. I think *My fitness Pal* app is paid after a trial version last time I remember using it.

    Baristatic App?

Does it have an option to share food journals with the dietician or others? As in share it via email?

    This surgery is bullshit...

OP and the ones who aren't into logging food, I recommend you use "Baristatic App" I am also the person who disliked this aspect of logging food. But once you're on this journey, it's important to do what's needed to achieve success even if it's something one dislikes. I started logging using the above App. It's easy, straightforward and will help you track almost everything WLS needed.
  10. So I have been wondering if anyone else here has been put on only clear liquids post-Op? Diluted juice, broth, jello, flavored water, decaf tea or coffee and plain water. That's all. Today is day 6, so almost there. One more day and I can move ahead to full liquids/pureed diet. Clear liquid phase is told to be done for healing process but there's no protein nothing. Usually after surgery one needs protein because body is in catabolic stage. So not sure why they no source of protein at all in my phase 1. May be all the protein from pre-Op diet may have been done for the reason. Clear liquid diet for a week has definitely been challenging especially post day 3. And around day 5ish, weakness and fatigue. Waiting on day 8 so badly to move past this stage. Anyhow, so anyone else have had similar clear liquid phase post their surgery?
  11. That sounds horrible. I don't think I ever wanna find out πŸ˜‚ But let's see how it goes. My body will ofc shout "My rules" πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  12. I understand as an individual who's been overweight all her life how our weight affects and restricts us physically and even mentally. I have lost out on a lot cuz of it. And only here, one can understand how it is to be stuck in that frame all our lives. Besides, even if it's done for the cosmetic reasons and wanting to look good, what's the harm in it anyways? It's your body, your life and your risk that you're willing to take for something that you deem is appropriate at this stage of your life. So let others be and go into it with a positive mindset. What is going to happen, it shall happen. May as well take the risk than live with burden (literally πŸ˜‚ and figuratively) rest of your life. Good Luck to you. Hope you come outta it with flying colors. And you have this forum for the continued support even if you don't get enough from US doctors post your return.

Clear liquids post-Op for 7 days?

Yeh I thought so too. It would help heal the stomach and intestine that went through a full ramage. Miserable indeed. Good to know there are others who have had similar stuctured program. Ofc every program is different. I was just concerned about losing muscle this week of clear liquids. But that's bound to happen and hoping they'll recover with time. 😊

Clear liquids post-Op for 7 days?

I would kill for a pureed soup right now πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ We are only allowed "Decaf coffee" - Nothing caffeinated. So tea or coffee. Though I prefer tea and that too "Orange Pekoe" And weakness and fatigue blows cuz all you wanna do is lay in your bed and hard to do so when you have to fulfill the 2L a day criteria. It's like a full time job drinking/sipping throughout the day πŸ˜‚ Hopefully once we move onto full liquids/pureed stage, it gets better.

    November 2021 surgeries

I would love a slice of pizza too, spicy one. If not a slice, even a bite will do right now πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ But can't. I don't want to risk the healing. So will stick to the program and hopefully during phase 2 I can make a mushy pizza something combination without the bread ofc.

    November 2021 surgeries

I kept posting my journey on Gastric sleeve thread but finished my surgery 11/30. It went quite well and beyond my expectations in terms of pain, nausea and diet. I have been tolerating it all quite well and getting enough fluids in. Atill got 4 more days of clear fluid. And this is the only thing challenging atm. I keep wanting to eat and chew especially something salty and spicy. Jello just doesn't match πŸ˜‚ Hopefully 4 days can fly away and I can have something mushy to eat πŸ₯³

    Drain

Nope, no drain! Just dissolvable stitches with steri strips over it and covered with transparent waterproof covering.

    Help… I cheated on Pre-op diet TWICE!

Yes I did cheat on my Pre-Op diet but mine was 2 weeks long so it somehow didn't hurt me as much. With your 1 week long pre-Op diet, I would suggest you speak to your nurse and make sure not to cheat again. Or ask them to give you a 2 weeks pre-Op diet that many of us go through and manage with some ups and downs in the beginning. I hope it works out for you. 😊

    Pre op Diet - Help!

Pre-Op diet right now as I am on my liquid diet phase sounded like a dream πŸ˜‚ Trust me first 3 days are worse during Pre-Op diet phase. But then you get hang on things. I had my surgery postponed twice and I was on my Pre-Op both times (about 7 and 10 days respectively). So I kinda got hang of it and even lost weight doing so. Third time doing it for another 10 days wasn't as difficult but I was someone who had to have something *minor or small* snack to eat. So I would graze 2 or 3 chips or spicy snack almost daily (Don't go overboard ofc and if you're the kind who can't control beyond couple of chips, then don't take this advise). But for me this kept my sanity in the Pre-Op phase. I still lost weight and got the surgery meaning my liver had shrunk. At the same time overall I had lost about 25 pounds within 2 months so they would have made a difference too. Point is 1 or 2 bites of unhealthy snack won't hurt as long as you don't slip through it.

Anyone else struggling with panic post-op?

Post-Op racing heart can also be dehydration. Dehydration reduces your blood pressure and shoots up your heart rate. So have to make sure to take sufficient fluids. That's my only concern first week. Other than that, I am taking it a day at a time and hoping things fall in place. But definitely there may be multiple concerns each of us may have down our journey. Just have to make sure not to go into any negative mindset because what is done is already done. Surgery is over and you can't undo. So make the best of what you can and focus on your end goal. 😊

    Gastric Bypass Yesterday

Yes I am - Today is Day 3 post-Op and almost painless except for some lingering bit. Thank you for asking. I hope you're doing just as well 2 weeks in.
  24. So I have just had the surgery yesterday and I was prescribed to take Lansoprozole and docusate (Colace). Both of them are in capsule form. Is it alright to take the entire capsule right from day 2? Instruction doesn't mention anything specific on how to take it. I have taken them and they haven't bothered or hurt me. So wondering if it's safe to take them as it is in the capsule form? Please let me know if I am doing it wrong. Thank you.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

It seems I posted under the wrong thread since I have had gastric bypass πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ But it still is the same journey for all of us regardless of the kinda procedure we have had πŸ˜‚ First 2 days, pain was bothersome but managed with Tylenol and resting. I have experienced resting for an hour or so helps a lot. So I follow that and only use 2 or 3 regular strength 325mg of Tylenol. I feel much better today (Day 3). So hoping by the end of the week, I'll be able to stroll without having to hold my stomach. Hope everyone is progressing well on your respective end. πŸ€—
