  1. Hello I’m having my surgery at WakeMed as well with Dr.Enoch
  2. Good evening everyone I’m new to the group. Im from NC and I’m having the gastric sleeve procedure 8/6/21. I’ve been in this process since 2017 and hit an obstacle when I found out I had sarcoidosis in 2018. That ultimately lead to me being on prednisone for about 2 years….and I gained a lot of weight which put my journey on hold. I found a new surgeon who actually listened to me and assessed my situation he agreed to do a stage procedure (gastric then bypass). I’m so ready for this I’ve been praying about it for years and in and out of depression behind weight and just life in general. I’m 32 years old no kids. I’m ready to live my life and not let my weight determine my day. Any tips pre-op would be helpful. I welcome suggestions.
  3. What are some good tips or tactics to quit smoking pre-op?
  4. Update: I have a consultation with a new surgeon end of this month! 💪🏽
  5. Thank you @Angelacl I called another surgeon today for a consult I’m hopeful this time time.

  7. Thank you. I figured I’d have to start over but I’m up for the challenge. I just need to do my part and not accept no for an answer. I’m very hopeful. Thank you for the response.
  8. I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis and you are correct being on steroids was a contributing factor. My pulmonary doctor cleared me for surgery but by that time I was on steroids for so long I gained a lot of weight and put me out of bounds for BMI goal. I stopped taking my steroids at the beginning of this pandemic. I kind of stopped going to my bariatric appointments just tired of hearing no or I can’t. They replaced my nurse practitioner also so my new was the one that kind of created more obstacles for me. I’ve been depressed for awhile because I basically went through everything and a year plus later I still have no date and will probably have to start over.
  9. I’m 31 and I weigh over 400 odd and I’m having trouble getting surgery date because my BMI is so high. I’ve been on this journey since 2017. I’ve been on steroids due to a lung condition. I’m miserable and don’t know what to do!
