gg2007BandSTAR replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, Im glad to know that im not the only one going through it, it is a true point that it is not only thin people that have issues with it. And its really shocks me how unprofessional some medical professions are.....eg eating nuts and seeds!!! I would of told him stick his nuts and seeds where the sun dont shine!! lol it also makes me laugh the people that advise you against not getting it done, they see the results later and then want it done themselves!! angel: i sooooo agree!! -
The Powder Room (*ladies only*) could be the one ...unless anyone has anymore thoughts or suggestions....? Can we also have a cuss out room for the times when men annoy us....as in acting like they are dying when they have a small cold lol lol

hey! Welcome to the forum, i would say the first 4 days are the hardest (i did the cambridge diet) ,but stick with it hun! Its not forever and as a bonus you will have an extra loss before you have surgery. The first two weeks of my liquid diet i lost 17lbs! Good luck xx

Hey hun! i felt excatly the same as you didn when i walked out of her office, i started to question and doubt myself, thinking...what am i doing?...is she right? But then i started thinking to myself why i opted for this surgery and what the benefits not only to my immediate health but to my life would be. By the time i walked the 20 seconds to the car, i soon snapped out of it!!! All of the negativity i got from her i turned it into positive, and that just drove me to know that this is what i really want! Again i have done research upon research about lapbadning , and know about the good and the not so good. But if you know that you want it (100%) dont let any body change your mind, or put doubts in your head. If you want it, GO FOR IT!!! it does work...we only need to look around us on the forum. i have found that when people see that you are trying to do something to better yourself, they just wanna bring you down. Dont let them! xxxx xxxxxx -

hi leslie, I'm also not telling many people about the op, my mother and my sister and that it. If people are going to be negative, there gonna be negative. But as for me i don't have the time to listen to it...! They dont live my life, or go through what i have to go through, or suffer from the effects of the weight i carry around. So stuff the lot of them. They had better move outta my way , cos GG is coming through, no matter what they say or do!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -

Thanks you all for the replies and for your support. As you have mentioned, people can be ignorant to WLS....or think you are going down the GBP which is a whole other story. People think its the easy way, but it is far from it! You still have to put in the work to loose the weight, as as mentioned if you work against your band, you will end up putting weight on. Surgery is a big decision, and there is no way im gonna mess it up, or put myself at further risk but not following what i should be doing with the band. What gets me is when you try to educate people about it, and they STILL dont want to listen to what you have to say! People are so quick to focus on the negatives and dont even see the positive side of things. But for once im doing this for ME and nobody else. You have all been great support!! Thank you. -

Hey! You were good, if that was me, i would said a few choice words to him, but in saying that....what an ***hole!! But he was still happy to get paid for doing the procedure. And a coward to say it while you were not thinking clear from the drugs! Well done on your losses, and keep up the hard work!!! -

Hey! Her negative attitude is so bad, and i feel for the next person who walks into her room and isn't as strong and determined to stand up for what they want. I think thats a true point you mentioned, just because it goes wrong for one, don't tarnish everybody with that same brush. Doesn't mean that it will go wrong for you also. CANT WAIT TO BE BANDED and on the road to a new and improved me! -

Hey Texgal! I am really up for it, and am going to put in 100%, and i WILL go back and show her how it DOES WORK! -
Hi Im trying to apply for a loan at the mo, but my credit is lets just say "not great". But another reason why i want to wait is that it gives me the time to save up, if i do end up going private. Day 2 and already out to the shops, your doing really well. How are you finding sticking to the liquid diet?
-
Hi JULES! Welcome to the forum, ive not been on her long myself but i have gotten great support from other members. I haven't had the band fitted yet, i am trying through the nhs and am waiting on a letter to see the surgoen. But from doing some research, even if i am accepted i may have to wait for up to three years. Im not prepared to wait that long so depending how how long the process takes i will be going private, sooner rather than later. Hows the pain? Does it really hurt, i hear people get alot of shoulder pain because of the gas in the stomach. Wish you all the best in your weight loss, let us know how you get on xxx

Hi everyone! At my highest i was 406lbs, Last year around this time i was down to 362lbs and now im 395lbs today is the start of my 12 week diet before surgery...i will update soon, hopefully it will be losses....fingers crossed! its quite surreal, i guess i feel comfortable talking about my weigh on these forums as i know everyone is going through the same thing. But to anyone else, there would be no way i would tell em how much i weighed. Harriet xxx

Hi all! Im Harriet from London, UK. At my heaviest i was 406 with a bmi of 59.9....(wats 0.01 between friends? lol). Im currently 392...well 395 (weighed in this morn and have put on 3lbs ). Hi to all you lovely people!!! and looking for a band buddy...:)
gg2007BandSTAR replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey well done on finishing up on your weigh management, that means you are a step closer. I think im addicted to the forum! any chance i get im logged on, but really has been great for support. Congrats on getting approved by your insurance, have you been given a date for the op yet? i know the feeling, i feel nervous about the op and want to get it out of the way, but also really excited!! Your only 4lbs out hun, when are you going to be weighed. Im sure they wont deny you for 4lbs? I have my consultation booked for next week and should have the around sept time if all goes well! Wow that was really quick!! what insurance company are you with, how are you feeling about friday? Again the road wont be easy but with strengh, support and fighting sprit, you will get to the end before you know! i definatly agree...most people who i know dont really have a weight problem, so its nice to find a common ground where you can share things with people who are going through the same. Good luck to us all!! and look forward to hearing about all your journeys:biggrin2::thumbup: -
Glad to see you back safe and well! How soon were you allowed home after the op? xx

Hiya!! That would be great! How many months into your pre-op diet are you? and well done on your loss so far!!! -
Not suitable for LAP Banding? :(
gg2007BandSTAR replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
:thumbup: Thanks!! And i have:biggrin::biggrin:, i have found a surgeon who im happy with and am going to book a consultation with (self paying). Two reasons as much as i would like to get the op on the nhs for free, i really dont know how long i will be waiting for. Doing some research it could be anything from 6 months to 3yrs!!! having spoken to other people who have had the operation with the same surgeon, you could have the op as soon as a week after the consultation! I would like to provisionally book the op around sept time for two main reasons... 1. to drop some weight, anything i can loose will be an advantage. 2. to give me a chance to save up But in saying the above i will still wait and see what happens between now and sept with my GP referral. :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::biggrin::laugh: -
Hey, ive not been banded yet. I have just been referred by my doc, and am trying to get it done on the nhs. But from the sounds of things there is a long waiting list. If that's the case then i will go private in september. But for the mean time am waiting for an appointment with the surgeon. How are you feeling? where are you getting banded?
-
Hi Baby! Welcome, im pretty new myself, but people have been so friendly and answered so many of my questions. Good luck with your band fitting, let us know how it goes. xx
