Wohooo!! doc reffering me.... what next?

My bmi is 43, and currently have no medical problems, but I lost my dad at 51 to un-diagnosed Heart Disease 3 yrs ago and it is something that seems to run in his side of the family, so my weight won't help me in the future, and also is affects my prolapsed disc. I don't have any aftercare package with my surgery, I couldn't afford the extra £3000, I will pay for fills every other month, thats affordable to me.

Wohooo!! doc reffering me.... what next?

Hi, I hope you have better luck then me with the NHS, initially when I was under the weight management clinic I didn't want to consider surgery, since then I have had all the tablet, numerous dietitian appointment and nothing, so I changed my mind, I spoke to the consultant who then decided that my BMI was too low, but it was high enough if I had problems with my blood pressure and colesterol, which he has tested and in his words are "suprisingly perfect!!", I also have a prolapsed disc in my spine which doesnt help with my weight and I can't have any further treatment because of it, but still he said "No", so after the rollercoaster of the NHS i'm now booked in private!! Good Luck with your consultation x

who shall i go with for banding in the uk

"Why Go Abroad" is in Birmingham, you have to op at Dolan Park in Bromsgrove, they are part of the Hospital Group but £3,000 cheaper as they only provide 28 days aftercare and you have to pay for the fills. My surgeon is Audun Siggurdson and he was the head surgeon on the ITV program "supersize surgery" that was filmed at Dolan Park, you can watch the series on The Hospital group website, I felt alot happier aftyer that, and he was great at the consultation, as long as the op goes fine I can deal with the "not so reliable" staff afterwards.

who shall i go with for banding in the uk

I'm booked in with Why Go Abroad for £5,000....but obviously some people haven't had much look after the op with them, but for me the cost is the main factor.
  6. Hello All, I thought I'd join this and ask for your thoughts.... I'm booked in for my gastric band consultation on the 7th June, and quite honestly.....I AM TERRFIED!!!. All my family and friends think I am mad, and I'm sure a few think I'm taking the easy option and should try diets (again), but I personally can't take the "yo-yo" effect anymore....I am a fit & healthy person on the inside, but with a shell that doesn't match (thats what the doctor has said) and I now want the body to match!!!...and if 1 more person says the old cliqche "you have such a pretty face" I will bop em!! My main worry is obviously the surgery, but I keep thinking "what if the band doesn't work?" and "Can I ever go out socially for a meal again?"....and most of all...."how big is the fill needle?" (i hate em!!) So if anyone can shere their thoughts and experiences with me I would be VERY gratefull!! Thanks Kerri xx

How about swopping the word "only" for "another"??? much more positive, cos you should be proud!! Keep up the good work and I will hopefully be joing you soon!! Kerri xx

    hello

Hi Katie I've got my surgery booked with WGA, I think it's a minefield as WGA has very mixed reviews on here, but the cost is what has made me decide to go with them, I wish it wasn't like that but I can't afford the extra £3000 for aftercare, but need the surgery for my own sanity!! From my consultation they seemed good though and I was happy with my surgeon. I have researed surgery for the last 4mths, I hope you find someone you feel happy with!!! Good Luck, Happy Searching!! Kerri xx

    Im Back and Banded!!!!!!

Glad to hear everything has gone ok with the surgery....I'm wondering why they strap you down now!!! that will freak me out!!! Why can't I get my ticker to work!!! Grrrr
  12. Thanks for that Spabes, I was soooooo excited about my surgery being booked and now I'm wondering what I have done!! you have re-assured me!!! Perfect Ten, hopefully you will feel restriction after your fill, I think I have done sooooo much research on the band I've accepted it may take months before you reach the "sweet spot" and that it's just an aid and not a miricle, finally changed my attitude from wanting it to happen over night to being in this for the long haul, with alot of hard work ahead!!...I just want to be able to get a dress from Coast for my 30th birthday party next March!! lol
  13. Hi, I'm booked in with WGA for September with Mr Sigurdsson, I'm just wondering how the Op went, I realise you are none to pleased with the aftercare etc, but my main worry is the Op, I think I've expected to have no aftercare, but the price was one I could afford, an extra £3000 to go to my local private hospital isn't an option. Thanks Kerri

    Audun Sigurdsson

Thanks for that, I feel better knowing other people have had him do their surgery and he seems really good. Your weight loss is great, you are alot better losing it slowly as it is better for your skin!! Keep up the great work!! Kerri x
