  1. I have surgery date for banding April 21st with Dr. Bauman in Concord, NC. I researched band for 2 years before deciding this was the surgery for me. I have been visiting this site since Feb and have gotten lots of info and tips for safe weight loss and better health. I hope to rely on a lot of you for more help and encouragement as I need it after surgery. Congratulations on all your weight loss and encouragement of others.:clap2: Surgery Date 4/11/06 Dr Roc Bauman Northeast Medical Center Concord, NC 286/286/170 or whatever
  2. I'm such an optimist I'm hoping for an insurance coverage "miracle" between now and April 21st. I also know I'll be strict and follow all the rules because I'll be concerned about a complication. You're right about leaving it to a higher power. If trouble comes, we'll deal with it then. Looking forward to talking with you all in the coming months. Thanks for all your support and responding to my introduction. Linhopp:)
  3. Mine will be about 22K. I'm so afraid of band slippage or other complication that would put me in the hospital and cost even more. Have you had any complications at all? I'm sure if surgery isn't covered any hospital stays and related medical costs wouldn't be covered either.
  4. Has anyone had Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina approve their claim? Gastric Bypass is covered and when I called insurance co I was told it may be covered, but Weight Loss Surgeon says they do not pay for lap band. Surgery is scheduled for April 21st and I will be self pay but hoping for a last minute coverage miracle...lol.
  5. Just so afraid of Gastric Bypass and waiting and hoping for insurance to cover. I have BCBS of NC and they will cover Bypass and Stapling but not banding, so I'm doing it self pay. I just don't want to wait any longer and my attempts to diet, going to the gym, etc. just aren't making much of a difference.

    1st Consultation w/Dr. Bauman over...

I also have surgery scheduled with Dr. Bauman on April 21st. I'm really excited and was a little disappointed that he was so quiet on my first visit. After seeing Diane (the nutritionist) and talking to his staff and others, I feel very confident he's the surgeon for me. Looking forward to all the good things and better health I know are waiting for me if I'm willing to work for them (and I am!) Good luck with your surgery and new life.
