Who decides when you've lost enough weight?
heatherlynnTX replied to Foxglove's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sometimes it is good to listen to others around you who love you and care about you:wub:. I believe that it is important to value other peoples advice especially when you ask them their opinion. But, that doesn't mean that you have to do what they say. You are the one who ultimately has to make the decision. It is your body and you inevidably will have to be the one who lives with the choices that you make. Obviously you love your husband because you have been married so long and surely you would want him to listen to you if he had something he wanted to do that you did not want him to do , so sometimes you just have to put the shoe on the other foot, because ultimately you do want your husband to be attracted to you and you know you feel great and look great now. It's easy to be selfish:blush:, sometimes it's more rewarding to sacrifice for others around you. It depends on how important it is to you that you exceed your goal. Also, you might want to ask your doctor if there are health concerns or if it's just his opinon. And well, that's just my opinion. -
Just banded this morning...Doing Great so far!
heatherlynnTX replied to fotogurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there, Dr. Spivak did my surgery last Friday May 23rd. He's great!! I had my surgery at the True Results hospital and it went good. I was actually in more pain then what I thought I would be, but they took care of me. Most of it was gas. (Everyone is different though.) They were on time and precise, like a well oiled machine. It's Wednesday now and I am feeling great. I hope that everything goes well for you. If you have any questions feel free to ask. -

alright, i was banded on friday may23 and so i am just trying to get used to having this foreign object in my body. i'm hoping that the pulling sensation will stop soon. also, the reason why i got on this morning was to see if anyone else experienced the "fluttering" on the stomach and so i see that ya'll have (it feels like it's trying to push the band off). i hope and pray that my stomach will finally get used to the band being on there because it almost makes me want to gag when it does that. -
Dr. Spiegel's "Free" Seminar
heatherlynnTX replied to loseit7's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
the first time i went to a free seminar at dr. spivak's office it was free. but the second time i went the seminar was free, but the "office visit" was not. it was 100.00 to actually sit down in an examination room and talk with the doctor about your personal needs. possibly you could as to attend the free seminar and come back at at later date for an office visit? -
Looking for INFO on Hadar Spivak
heatherlynnTX replied to julietj1970's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Spivak is the most experienced doctor in Texas. He has performed hundreds upon hundreds of bariatric surgeries in the Houston area. Dr. Hadar Spivak also is one of the spoke persons for the "Lap Band" and trains other doctors as to how to perform this surgery. He has been highly recommended by every person I know who has had bariatric surgery. He and his staff care very much for their patients. 2 years ago I went to one of his seminars and he actually remembered my face. Now I can say that being one of Dr. Spivak's patients, I am personally glad to recommend him! Banded 5-23-08 -

My name is Heather and I recently had Dr. Spivak perform the lap band surgery on me. He came HIGHLY recommended from friends and clients. Dr. Spivak and his full staff are completely professional and loving and caring people. I am still in awe that i finally DID it!! I have had full confidence in Dr. Spivak because of his background and experience! I am so glad to be able to begin a new life full of energy and to be able to be ME, who I have always been on the inside trapped inside of this body of mine. I highly recommend Dr. Hadar Spivak for anyone who is considering bariatric surgery in Houston, Texas or the surrounding areas. You will not be dissappointed! Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
heatherlynnTX replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, this is my first visit to Lapbandtalk. I had my surgery yesterday on Friday May 23 also. At the hospital I felt horrible gas pains, which I didn't expect would be so painful, but by night time after gas X and meds, i was feeling much better. After reading the previous threads I realized that whew, my doctor/nurse did not mess around with getting me out of there. I couldn't even see my hand infront of my face because the anestisia was still in my system and they were already trying to get me to blow into a tube deal and got me dressed right away and sent me straight off the bed to the restroom and then straight to get an x-ray. i know that my doctor is one of the best, so i didn't even question it, but at the time i really felt like i need a little more down time to get adjusted. all in all, i am glad that at least i was able to get home at a decent hour.
