Jazzy Junes 2008...What do you do? Where are you from?
teacherofk replied to Apples2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Jazzy Junes!! I',m having my surgery June 17th. Nervous and excited too:confused2: I am a kindergarten teacher and love it. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 29 years. He is very supportive and is taking a weeks vacation just to take care of me.:tongue2: I have two children and two beautiful granddaughters whom I adore. I want to get healthy so I have energy to play with my students and my granddaughters. Good luck to all those who have had their surgery and to those like me that are anxiously waiting for the big banding day. -
I also have what I call a fat pad and I hate it. I did not even know I had one until another teacher where I teach said something about it. I had never really noticed it but I went and looked in the mirror and I could not believe how it looked. I was so embarressed. Then when I mentioned it to my DH he said oh yea you've always had that. Oh my gosh how did he know and not ever say anything. We have been married 29 years.( I have been hunting someone to vent to forever LOL that would understand. )But anyhow mine does hurt sometimes. I often wonder if it has to do with the way I sleep or my posture. I really think my posture effects it like if I slump over to much or something. Anyway I'm so glad to know others that have it too. I wear my hair longer now to try and cover it up and watch what I wear. I just don't want people looking at that and my other fat too.:tongue2:

I finally have a surgery date. I will be banded on June 17 and go for presurgery test on the 10th which is just EKG, chest x-rays, and blood work. I only have to do the Akins diet for 7 days before surgery. I am so excited and nervous too because I keep reading all these problems people are having. But I am going to go for it and do my best to follow Dr. Groves rules and hope and pray he can get thru the scar tissue to do the surgery. Good luck to everyone.

Thanks so much for the prayers ChristyC. I think its a good thing it was a small popsicle and not something bigger LOL. Sounds to me like your dreams are on the right track. I tell you what -you pray for me and I'm praying for you. I hope all i'll dream about is a small popsicle and not a big steak, potatoes, and brownies LOL. (Opps sorry now you'll probably dream about those.) thanks again for the prayers. I'm just sitting and waiting on the doctor to call and tell me if I'm approved or not.

PTL so glad to find Christians to talk to. I am waiting for insurance approval any time now. Would you all pray for me that the doctor will be able to do my surgery. I have had 2 major surgerys in the past were I was opened up and I have alot of scar tissue so the doctor says he may have to wake me up and tell me he couldn't do it. That would break my heart (plus really tick me off LOL). So please pray for me that everything will work out and again I say PTL. Thanks all and God Bless you.

Hey Patricia I live in Alabama too and my doctor is also Dr. Groves and Dr. Britt. I am waiting on my insurance approval. I know what you mean about your knees because mine have gotten really bad. I am a teacher and stand on cement floors all day and it is killing my knees along with my weight. I will not do gastric bypass because I know 4 people that have died from it and I just know I am not suppose to have that surgery but having lapband does not scare me that bad. Good luck to you and all us Bama Belles

Jack I love the way you say things, it really cheers me up. I guess if you have to have cheetos at least get the 100 calorie baked cheetos and try them. Good luck --still waiting on surgery date:confused2:
-
Hey IndioGirl55 you have done great and are an inspiration for me. I am 5'4 and 52 years old. I am waiting for the call about my insurance approval. It should be any time now because I have met all the other requirements. I will be coming to you for advice I'm sure. Thanks for encouragement. One day I am so excited and the next scared to death but one reason is because I have alot of scar tissue from prior surgerys and the doctor says he may not be able to do my surgery. So please pray that they can and thanks again for being an inspiration.

Hey you have made me feel better. I too live in Alabama and Dr. Groves is doing my surgery if insurance approves it which should be no problem. I have been opened 2 times and have a scar all the way down my stomach. Dr. Groves told me there is a chance he can't do the surgery but will not know until he gets in there. Did your surgery with him go well and did you go home that day? Tell me all about it. LOL. They are filing my insurance next week.
-
Good luck to all just beginning the journey. I too am beginning mine and waiting insurance approval. I am looking forward to getting healthy and shopping somewhere besides Lane Bryant. LOL:thumbup:

hoping to have surgery but not sure
teacherofk posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey everybody this is my first time here so may make mistakes. This is my problem. The doctor is turning in everything to my insurance next week which should not be a problem but the doctor says he may not be able to do my surgery because of scar tissue. I have been opened twice in the past for hiatal hernia repair and then several years later the scar pulled apart and I had 8 hernias that had to be repaired, so I have been opened twice and have alot of scar tissue. The thing is they won't know if they can do it till they go in and look around but its a 50/50 chance. Has anybody had this experience and will I be glad I did the surgery? Thanks.:rolleyes2: -
