Hi Amy and Congrats to you..l too have B/C and l got my approval several weeks ago, with my surgery 9/12 Just wanted to let people know that they might need to call B/C to get the approval..l called them daily until they approved me..well yesterday in the mail, l finally got the letter with the approval..So, it was 6 weeks of waiting just for the letter to arrive..To all that may be waiting, CALL THEM

no diet was required by my surgeon....not one single day...although, we were warned not to gain weigh while waiting for surgery or they may cancell your surgery.....3 more days till my new birthday

l also have Federal B/C B/S and no diet was required not even a pre surgery diet....l had no trouble getting approved....Good luck to all.

hi Sue..l'm being banded by Dr Haag on 9/12....a bit anxious, but very excited...Ricotta is great....ground sausage or turkey sausage added to the ricotta is awesome...

Beware..the meal plan is very high priced....we did it once and never again...the hotels have pretty good food ala carte....lots of fresh choices...and fairly reasonable...we are doing a cruise at the same time....wow, l won't be eating tons of food like so many times before...

l would call your surgeons office..l would expect the price to vary across the states...might even be cheaper to head to Mexico...Good luck...

l hated the unjury..the smell made me vomit never mind the taste...l love ISOPURE

l too have Mass Federal B/C basic option..They have been great..Only psych and nutrition appts were required. my co-pays have been $20.00 and l will owe the hospital $100.00 for the surgery. lt took me about 4 weeks to get approved, so don't get discouraged..l called them weekly until l had my approval. They have been very good to deal with..Through my phone calls with B/C l found out that many of the people answering the phone had already had the surgery so there was a bit of human compassion built into the conversations. Good Luck to you...Open season starts in Nov with coverage starting in January...

all of my appointments were in the evening also...lt was very easy to do, and almost fun...lts a whole process..For someone to want to skip this process, l would wonder if they think this is a miracle cure....l've been a psych nurse for 25 years and it was reassuring to know my doctor cares about my mental stability...Good luck anyways....

l would question the Dr who did this surgery without requiring you to have the pre-op testing..lts for your health and safety.

Hi Mini band...l'm Lisa and lm also very new here..still trying to find my way so to speak..l'm insurance approved, denied the first time..l called my ins every day after that until they knew my name and my story...so even if you get denied, its just s bump n the road...as soon as l got approved, my surgeons office called to say that my surgeon would be out on emergency family leave for probably two weeks..its already been at least 3 weeks..so here l wait..lwould assume l'll get banded in Sept some time..l'm ready, excited...and looking foward to a better life..Thin all my life, then a widow at 25..then married a man 400lbs..its so easy to learn the lifestyle...so now divorced and totally in love with a wonderful supportive man...at least l know he loves me heavy...what state are you i? Me Mass...its so different here than what l see most people post....no 6 month diet.....no sleep studies...no GI series...easy...nutrition, psych....blood wok..thats about its...not even a real pre surgical diet....stay in touch Lisa

No Straws.....creates to much air...but l have also thought about sippy cups..the are small and easy to carry around...Good luck to you

PIONEER VALLEY SURGICAL....look on the web site...its a great group...not sutre when the already banded group meets, but the pre banding group and there are many post banded in this group, will meet again at 6:30 8/18 at the Clarion Hotel in West Spfld....its a nice bunch of happy people....

l'm sure the Insurance Comp is going to be really direct with what they exopect from you, as well as the doctor..Insurance companies move at a snails pace, when they want to..l think they think we will be discouraged and go away...l would call your carrier and see exactly what you need to jump through all their hoops...Then get all your ducks in a row, play their game and hope they are nice....Good Luck....
