I still have a phobia of flying, greatly related to this issue. I dont think I've lost enough to not encroach into my neighbor's seats, but I think I'll be far more excited about a trip when I can!

I've noticed I can drink a lot of water in a short period of time (like 4-6 ounces), as long as I dont try to swallow it all at once. I can probably only take one ounce at a time, but I can drink 6 ounces spread over a minute. Anyone else?

Foods you can no longer tolerate
Metamorphosing replied to MrsRobinson4411's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't eat fish of any kind anymore. Everything I've tried has come right back up. And it gets pretty bad, so I probably wont ever eat it again... 😭 -
8 weeks out and it seems to take more than 5 oz
Metamorphosing replied to BQT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for the info, Fluffy! I read it several times now (and I'll probably read it a couple tomes more 🤣). -
Great job! Keep it up, everything can be overwhelming, but you seem to have it all under control.

One week post-OP with two complaints
Metamorphosing replied to Metamorphosing's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's because you are all swollen and such. Give it a few days. You'll get there! -
I am one week out from my sleeve and I'm going strong. I've lost 19 pounds post-OP so far and 60 pounds total. It's a great feeling. But it's been kind of tempered by two things: 1. I can't sleep to save my life - I'm up to 4 or 5 hours now, but it's broken in half with an hour or more awake in between. My doctor told me to add melatonin to my routine but it seems to just leave me drowsy, not put me to sleep. I'm walking a lot - I hit 9k steps yesterday. I've even been working on crafts when I'm resting, to keep active. I dont know what to do. 2. I feel like I've lost all my weight in strange places. For example, my breasts are definitely smaller, but I think my hips are almost exactly the same size. I can see the weight loss in my face, but my upper arms dont seem to have shrunk. How am I supposed to wear clothes like this? Anyone else notice the weird, uneven weightloss? Any advice on the insomnia? Anything at all will help.

insecure about how much weight i’ve lost, or not lost?
Metamorphosing replied to MariahS0105's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow, that's fantastic! I have a billion pounds to lose (well, 150 ish) and I dont think I'll be anywhere near 70 at my 2 month point - I'm thinking I might be over-optimistic hoping for ten pounds a month at the moment. Great job! -
One week post-OP with two complaints
Metamorphosing replied to Metamorphosing's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been tracking my body over the last couple weeks. The only pre-surgery measurements I had were several years older, but all more out of shape than I was directly before surgery, so I used them! I found out that I'm probably allergic to shrimp as well as most fish today. I ate some for dinner and immediately was sick for the next several hours. Good times. I only just got back to work and already had to call in for tomorrow. 🤒 -
New to Forum and weight loss!
Metamorphosing replied to EmmaG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
YES! I didn't expect to feel the cold so much after the surgery. I know I've lost a lot of weight, but who would have expected that I'd freeze to death in California? Last winter I never wore shoes, just sandals the whole year through. This winter wont be the same. -
Surgery Nerves are Kicking In
Metamorphosing replied to mew003's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I mirror everyone else's sentiment: you got tthis! I remember how nervous I was right before surgery, and after surgery I had a moment of panic - what had I just done? But two weeks later, 28 pounds down since surgery, and eating real (but soft) food, the world seems way better. The whole thing is freaky, but dont forget why you are doing it! As for the nausea, I'm probably not the best person to ask. I was sick twice in the hospital and once at home. Each time was pretty easy, but it still sucked. That said, the first week I hated the hiccups more. -
Finally Eating Real (Soft) Foods Again
Metamorphosing posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Today I finally get to eat real food. It's been over a month between pre and post surgery and, honestly, I was thinking about doing something dreadful if I had to have another shot of protien shake ever again. I will miss the ease in which I could eat on a protien shake only diet, but that is the ONLY thing I will miss. Under my doctor, soft food is also extremely limited, but it's enough to make me happy. In about a month I start getting all the meats back, at that point, I can't imagine needing anything else. Never thought I'd say it, but right now I'd take a chicken breast over some crisp French bread any day! -

I'm a belly sleeper, too! I called my doctor and asked when I could resume sleeping on my belly - he just gave me permission. I slept so well last night... -
Gastric sleeve Post Op 21 days
Metamorphosing replied to Ashley Menon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It could be your protien shake. I had a lot of issues with the horrible taste in my mouth after days on the liquid diet. -
101 pounds since surgery 7/10

Congratulations!! -
It sounds like you are doing amazing! My doctor is constantly on me for not getting my water or drinking enough protien shake (anyone else have a hard time getting water in when all you can do is drink liquids?). I know the slow weight loss is frustrating, but at least it's more than a pound a week off. It's possible your body is still getting used to the changes it's gone through. How's your exercise level? My doctor was very strict that without increased exercise there would be no weight loss.

You are a good wife! I don't even get Turkey yet and told my husband no. Luckily, he's not really in to Thanksgiving so he's excited anout having a hot dog, mac n cheese, and some mashed potatoes (which were are buying ready made as I can't have them, either). I'm hoping next year I can do the works and make up for it!
-
I'm still at the starting line, so this may change, but right now my goal is 150 - that puts me in normal weight range for the first time since high school! I want to get there if I at all can, but after that, if I got back up to 175, 180, I'd probably be happy enough. I've always thought a little bit of curves are nice.

Crazy personal question
Metamorphosing replied to Lynnbushea's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've lost 60 pounds (40 pre surgery, 20 after). I hate to say it, but my boobs are already saggy, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to be one of those people whose boobs goes to the ground. Despite the saggyness, my husband still acts like they are God's gift to creation, so it's not necessarily a problem for most other people. Despite that, I would be hurt to hear it - especially coming from a friend/coworker. That's a back handed method of showing support for what you are going through. Some people don't know how to support others, and I'm sorry you had to be on the receiving end. -
I wish I had thought of that before! I learned how nice a warm protien shake can be, but it's a lot of work for "nice" so I usually just have it cold.the only beauty of a liquid diet is that I can be really lazy about food.
-
This liquid diet is harder than I expected. Though, I would kill for soups. I'm on shakes only for 2 weeks. But that ends this friday. Then I get soft foods! I can't even express how excited I am for cottage cheese and plain Greek yogurt and scrambled eggs... Until friday I keep reminding myself that the liquid diet will be over soon. Soon......
-
I know, right? 😆 But honestly, I got a huge amount of detail to prep me for surgery with every step of the post-OP diet spelled out clearly. I'm not thrilled for a week I'll be eating Greek yogurt and string cheese, but the week after I could have fish (of course I'm allergic and I won't, but I could!). A month will pass before I know it.
-
I lost 20 my first week, too, but I am well aware that is because I started this process more out of shape than the average person. ☹️ Even though its fast now, I expect slow and steady to be my mantra. Also, like others, I weigh myself daily. It keeps me on track to remember I have a lot more work to do!

My pain was bad... I'm still not sleeping well from the pain I get. I slept 6.5 hours last night and it was a blessing - first time sleeping on my stomach (with doctor permission) since the surgery. So nice, so comfortable. But it's all getting better! My surgery was only one day before yours. Right now, awake I have the most frustration with the water/protien shake diet. I want food.... Reading this forum, I realize how wonderful it is to have so many people with so much expierence in what we're going through. I believe things will get better, so try to stay optimistic. This will all be worth it next year (that's what I keep telling myself). -
Oh, hummus sounds amazing. My doctor gave me a list of food I'm allowed to eat for each stage post- surgery for the first year. Hummus isn't on the list. The handful of foods that are on the list for my first week of food are mostly yogurt and cottage cheese. Some plain beans the week after. No meat for over a month. 😭 I'm with you, I miss chicken so bad...
