    Any other TRICARE patients?

I was a Tricare Standard and they covered everything as well. and I think my doctor set it up so that adjustments are included in the price so I've had 4 or 5 fills and haven't had to pay for any of them...

wow I have to say, you are a huge inspiration.I looked at your blog pictures, and you just seemed so depressed in your before pictures, now you just glow! And my god you look sooo much younger! Congrats! It's so great that lapband lets you live your life again instead of hiding from it, atleast that's how I feel...

    Problems with chicken?

Ok it's not even a normal issue of eating too fast or it being too dry. It was actually very juicy and marinated and went down fine. However I'm getting this thing where about an hour later or so, I get pain in my chest/shoulders...kind of like it was after surgery. Like gassy uncomfortable. Am I going crazy or does it happen to anyone else?
  4. I had mine done the end of July and started school the end of August. After surgery it was 2 weeks before I went back to school(I wasn't sleeping very well because i was usually a side sleeper and had to be on my back) and my job I run up and down stairs and get in and out of the car so I wanted to make sure and after 2 weeks it was nothing...

    Problems with chicken?

K maybe I'm just having a gassy day. Anyone else get like that? I just ate mainly ground beef, quite a small serving as opposed to what I"m used to and now I'm getting that upper shoulder pain and burping like crazy. Does this happen if you wait to long in between meals?

Yea that port...lol...Anyone else almost not able to sleep on their stomachs? I have a crappy wire-y mattress and it feels sooo awkward to lay on my stomach because my port sticks out lol...
  7. Hey just wondering how tall you are? And I notice you live in SD..I'm like directly north of you in Fargo.

  8. Just did my 1 year post op at my doctor's. They sent the pics back. I sort of want to cry when I see them. But still after roughly 72 lbs down I don't feel or "look"(to me) any different...Anyone else have that problem?

Just did my 1-year post op visit at my doctor's and they sent me my before and after pictures...I haven't put any up in...ever...or a long time because even besides looking at these pictures I don't feel like I've lost ANY weight...Before is at 267-ish and the after is at 195-ish...

    Marijuana Use After Surgery

well I do get the munchies but it doesn't change how tight my band is. So things still get stuck...regardless if it's a tight day or a loose day lol

    Twenties NSVs

Well I never flew when I was bigger but I know I wouldn't have fit but I comfortably fit in the seat 2 weeks ago when I flew for a school trip. We did a lot of hiking and I didn't keep up very well(they were all athletes) but I know I did way better than I would have done a year ago. I'm a size 14 now, juniors 15, so what I was in high school...I haven't lost any lbs in a month or two though...sad. Oh well. Before school starts I need to go shopping because I have NO clothes. And I'm jealous of those of you that are seeing your bra size go down lol. At my heaviest I was a 40DDD...I'm now a 36G...wtf? lol
  13. K so I've heard abotu upset stomach on Metformin, and my doctor just prescribed me it. 500mg twice a day. I'm kind of scared just in general because I'm only 19. He said my horomones were fine, but yeah um I'm pre-diabetic. I want to take the medication because it will help but I'm just worried that if it upsets me stomach or makes me throw up, it might hurt the lap band...

    An off day.

haha How'd you know? It's that time of the month lol I've been going after chocolate, candy and cheetos...yeah it's pathetic, however I did just go grocery shopping and got NO processed foods and some really healthy stuff, quite amazing considering I'm in college and I'm VERY slowly getting new habits...maybe this way they will stick though:P

"More To Love" on Fox Network

Yeah, Fat/skinny, pretty/ugly...it doesn't matter they are still all dumb as a stump....Saw the beginning half of this this morning; I about gagged. And I"m sorry, I've been fat and that hasn't had an effect on my relationships really...
  16. when did you have surgery?

  17. Well I am 5'4" and 195 and wear a 14 comfortably, and I am pretty hourglass shape, so top and bottom heavy. My mother is straight up and down and she's 5'11" and 200 and wears an 18/20 so...

    Fat stories

I went to mall of america for spring break and tried to ride a ride with my b/f who is pretty darn skinny, he wears like a 30-32 and he's 5'9" so I sat down next to him and a guy was helping push down the safety bar. It finally went down but it was cutting in so much and I was sucking in that I felt sick the whole ride and it sucked. That was 2 months before I decided to get the lapband and 5 months before I had the surgery. Just got back from a trip for a college class. All of the students (rich, pretty people) and my teacher(46 and a marathon runner, maybe a size 2) would constantly make comments about fat people. An obese lady walked in front of our van and my teacher said(with laughs from the students) "Wide LOAD!!!!" They also kept commenting on how there were some "Obese people trying to walk the trails" it was so annoying. And they all KNEW I had the lapband last year. The teacher said other things that were annoying but people just don't seem to know the pain of being obese, physical or emotional. We gain too much weight and we some how end up as less human, with less respect. It's disgusting; people are ignorant.
  19. K well I've always had problems with constipation but it's gotten worse since lapband...well it gets painful at times and I don't go for quite awhile...well I'm going on a hiking/camping trip for 10 days and won't be near a bathroom and I don't want to get in pain like I usually do...so I was planning to "clear" myself out before my trip. Usually stool softners or laxatives either don't work or will take 3 days to work(like right in the middle of class or work) so I was going to try to take a lil magnesium citrate like we did Pre-op. Obviously a smaller dose than what we had to take...however when I did it the first time it made me throw up and don't want that to happen with the band. SO I'm just wondering if anyone has gotten sick drinking it with the band...? And btw I don't do this often nor do I condone doing it for weight loss or anything, Only doing this because otherwise I will be in severe pain about 200 miles from a working toliet lol

Embarassing but would appreciate some advice...

No I can almost guarentee that I will not go "poo" once in 10 days. I have always had problems with constipation. Most of the time laxatives don't work. Fiber doesn't work. I doubt anything is wrong with me, that's almost the problem. It's just very severe constipation. And since surgery the only difference I've had is that now my stool is incredibly hard and I bleed a bit. I plan on going to the doctor soon, but in the mean time I am going on this trip and don't really want to be in pain or discomfort.
  21. Well my body is...strange and horrible then. I only lose weight if I eat under 900-1000 calories a day. If I eat around 1200-1500 I start gaining... damn.

    brain vs. stomach hunger

ha my boyfriend is quite skinny as well, eats whatever he wants doesn't gain but at the same time he doesn't eat very much. And what I'm surprised at is, once he starts eatting he has the ability to stop mid-way and just stop eatting. I've started to learn to do that and it's a very foreign feeling. And I also think constantly about food, though I am 2 weeks from being 1 year out and I have to say the last 6 months was when I learned the most, it takes a long time to break bad habits and pick up new ones...

3 weeks post op and so depressed

I'm a little scared by this post. As people have said before the first month or so is to get healed...not to lose major weight. And your doctor should have explained that lapband goes much slower...which is much healthier. I didn't become depressed or worried until I was at a plateau for 5 or 6 months...and honestly i didn't change a thing and I started losing again...I guess it just how my body is. Just stay healthy, make the right choices and it will come off. Everyone loses at their own pace.
  24. Well the only thing I'm worried about is a few people have mentioned their bands being a bit tighter for a day or two after the flight and/or during...well I'm at my sweet spot finally and can eat small amounts, I'm worried that if it gets any tighter I wouldn't be able to keep water down, etc.
  25. ha my brother was born there too...
