    Nsaids????

OTC Supradol in Mexico and I have seen where it can be ordered online. I know about needing the NSAIDs, I have really bad headaches when I can't take my Naproxen which the dr. said I can take in 2 weeks but I am not sure how, because the pills are huge and I am not sure about crushing and taste etc. Gotta check it all out when I get home.

    Nsaids????

Are you using the subliqual (under the tonque) type? This is what I was told to use. It is absorbed differently.

    Nsaids????

They are giving me Supradol (I am in the hospital now) and I thought it was similiar to an NSAID but not one. My niece said the Torodol is the same. I know it works wonderfully! I was planning on taking as needed when I get home. Not sure what the deal is. I will be checking into this too. I just had the sleeve and can take NSAIDs but plan to limit and want to wait until healed. good luck to you!

    Nsaids????

I take Naproxen and that was one of the reasons that I chose the sleeve. However the surgeon did have me suspend the Naproxen for now. My surgery is scheduled for May 7th. I sure am missing the darn ole stuff too!:thumbup1:

    Nsaids????

I sure agree about the Tylenol and the liver. I was taking Tylenol trying to avoid Advil and my blood tests came back showing some very high counts on the liver. I discontinued the Tylenol and within a few weeks the counts improved drastically! One of the reasons I decided on the sleeve was so that I could take NSAIDS. Thanks for all the good info Tiffykins.
  7. I would love to stop in to see you and compare sleeve stories! I will give you an advanced warning though! I made a ticker, now I am trying to figure out how to get it on my profile. I can be such a ditz!

    Surgery in Cancun May 7th!!

Thanks Katt. Actually I have a package of the unflavored that a friend gave me but I was not sure what I was going to do with it. I have been using the chicken soup and the chocolate on my pre-opt diet. Thanks for the tip, I will order the unflavored now that I know.

    Swimming is key for me

What a wonderful post! You give me hope and courage. I too am 60 and my sleeve surgery is scheduled for May7th. It's been about 10 years since I have seen the scale less than 280 and have been as high as 330. The swim part caught my eye because I love the water. Hope all keeps going well for you. Thanks for such a great post.

    Got my date!

I am going to Cancun May 4th, post opts on the 6th and sleeve surgery on the 7th. I have been researching on line continuously for about 3 months only after doing the same thing 4 years ago but then not being able to go through with the surgery. Over the past 4 years I have attended 3 seminars on bariatric surgeries. Many of you have responded to my questions and I have read many many posts. I think I am well educated and ready to get to the "other side" no matter how scary it is! Thanks to all who have sent emails and posted comments. I look forward to my journey and having a community on line for support, encouragement and information. Any advice or comments will be appreciated. Brenda
  12. CONGRATS! I am working on having the band or the sleeve, not sure which. These message boards are great. I have learned so much. Everyone is very helpful. Wish you the very best!!

    Senior Bandsters please respond!

I am wondering the maximum age to be banded. I have read on several web sites that there is no age limit. I have a friend that might be interested but she thinks she is too old. I would love for her and I to do this together. Anyone out there over 65? Please let me know your experience with any wls. Thanks so much. Brenda

Anyone planning surgery end of April in Mexico?

Good for you! Keep me posted on your progress! I am not going to make the end of April but I am not giving up.
  17. I am planning on having the sleeve procedure in Mexico the end of April. I have been researching for hours on end. I now have a possible 2 or 3 surgeons and plan to make a decision soon. If you are going the end of April, please contact me, maybe we can share info and support. Thanks, Brenda

Anyone planning surgery end of April in Mexico?

Yes I have considered Dr. Aceves. I am not going to make the end of April though. I am working on some medical issues with my doctor and of course it is taking longer than I thought. I do know that my insurance won't cover any wls so I am self pay for sure. With the doctor wanting me to have the lap band and I am leaning toward the sleeve, I am trying to keep an open mind for both. So I have been researching the band virus the sleeve. Anyway, I will get there. I need some tests done and the insurance company is dragging the approval out for those. Still working on it all. Thanks for your response. Brenda

Anyone planning surgery end of April in Mexico?

Barbarella, I am not sure but you can contact his office. The staff is great. I have been communicating with Nina and she is very helpful and responds in a timely manner to my inquires. Good luck with whatever you do! Brenda m
  20. I was certain that I wanted the band surgery. Now after much research I am leaning toward the sleeve. I am interested in other's experiences. I am 60 years old, weigh almost 300 lbs. and no serious medical issues yet. I am so ready to get a life. I will be going to Mexico due to cost so any info on Mexican facilities and doctors would be appreciated. Thank you for any help. Brenda in Fl.

    Checking into the Sleeve Surgery

I have concerns about any complications that might arise during surgery or post opt. as well as later. I have read on the boards that people's insurance have covered problems later from other WLS. I guess it all depends on your insurance. It's all a bit risky but I think we just have to weigh the pros and cons. Many many people have had no complications from the sleeve but there is not many years of data yet. Good luck with your surgery!

    Checking into the Sleeve Surgery

Kabranda and Lookinupin2010, Thanks for the info. I go back and forth about the sleeve surgery. My doctor wants me to have the band. I just attended yet another seminar about the band (that made the 3rd one in the last few years) at my doctor's suggestion. I have seen quite a bit of success with the band, however the sleeve has it's advantages. I wanted to be open minded after my doctor's visit so I went to the seminar and now I am even more confused. So I am still researching and in the meantime, I am eating more sensibly and being more active. Thanks to all who share on here, I sure appreciate everyone's input.

2 WKs Out - FOOD ISSUES Need Help

I have read that some people, especially men need salt. One guy said that he was feeling really bad and he remembered to eat salt and felt much better. Also there are some protein soups out there that are suppose to be really good.

    Checking into the Sleeve Surgery

Thanks to both of you bkind and pnw218. Money is a big issue with me. My husband died recently and I feel like I really have to watch the money now as I am not sure when I can return to work. To tell the truth, I need to lose some weight to feel like working again. I have had 2 surgeries without incident, 1 minor and 1 major and even though I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, I have not experienced any serious problems so far. My issues have been controllable with meds. So I am optimistic that I will do fine, so many others have even with lots of weight to lose like myself. thanks again!
