I’m 6 weeks post op. It’s not that bad. You will be fine. Good luck.

Has anyone progressed to the point where you can drink something during your meal. I still loathe the thought of not being able to wash something down.
-
In the first year, when do you notice your weight loss slow down / stall? So far so good but I keep thinking it’s going to flatten out. It’s already starting. Kind of neat seeing the surgery peak. I guess that was IVs.

Started puree 7 days out of surgery I ate too much
JTSC replied to Maryalice717's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The couple times I tested the rules I regretted it. I’m just now on solids and up to one shrimp or a little chicken. I’ve had to slow down and I stay liquid and purée at work just in case -
This is one of the hardest things for me to wrap my head around. I thought it would be “no beer” rule but I really don’t care about that. The 30 min rule will take some getting used to.

How about vegetable soup. Do you have to separate solids from liquid for life?
-
Not sure why but took a bite of a string cheese thinking I could chew it up good enough. I’m still in purée stage. It did not end well. Hoping it goes thru all those small holes. I was feeling a little cocky up until then.

Feel better today. I’ll treat it as a lessons learned. Thanks everyone. I think that kind of cheese is on the soft diet. I may not touch it for a year!!

3 week post op and losing about a lb a day. I figure that’s mostly due to the purée / liquid deal. Does it slow down when starting to eat normal textures? That’s my fear.

Pain after lifting something
JTSC replied to al0vely's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stretched during the night and had shooting pains for a day. It resolved and I don’t feel it anymore but I was worried for sure. Made a mental error unrelated to that instance where I picked up my three year old instinctively so he could see a passing jet. He’s about 40 lbs. I instantly put him back down and was worried but I didn’t feel anything thank goodness! -
20% chance of being within 18 lbs of my ideal weight (probably not a realistic goal). I’ll take it. I can try harder than 80% of typical folks maybe. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully I will be running races along with my son by then (that’s a dream).

Congratulations. I’m 13 days post op. I found most of my pain was gas after the first few days (except when I stretched or twisted a lot). I popped the gas x and walked a lot to get the gas out. I can’t really feel any discomfort from my surgery now. It gets a lot better.

Anyone else sitting off to the side while their family eats Thanksgiving dinner? It kinda sucks but I know it’s worth it. About 11 days out. I was hoping to graduate to purée but doc said I had wait.... so I’ll sip while the fam stuffs.
-
Do you really have to put the meat in a blender for purée. I was hoping to just mash it with a fork. I guess I need to look at some recipes and examples.

It may be the liquid diet but I’m really looking forwArd to some real food. I do crave some things. I hope that goes away when I finally put something solid down. Right now it doesn’t feel much different for me as far as Some cravings. Hope this is normal during the liquid phase.

Good luck on your upcoming surgery. Hang in there!

Had not heard of doing the laparoscopic procedure by robot. Doc said is one less incision possibly but I haven’t verified mine yet. 3 minor things I didn’t realize: the robot requires 2 IVs, there’s a catheter involved, and there’s a one shot per day prescription you give yourself. Obviously this may be different for some but just wanted to point it out. I got up one time and walked.....wow, the pain. Now just hitting the medicine button as much as I can.

I’ve been trying to stay on top of the pain med, liquids, and protein. The pain is unbearable at times. I think it’s gas. Anyone know how long this will last?
-
Thank you! Thank you and Good Luck!

Nervous about my decision to go with bypass vs sleeve. About a week away. Is dumping syndrome worth the benefit of more weight loss and less regain?
-
Thank you everybody. The mental part was tough last night. Just need get thru this liquid diet. I never realized how much food is in your face until you can’t have it. Tv social media billboard etc.
