That's good to hear. I have a question for you. On the clear liquid diet after surgery, does broth count towards your fluid intake for the day? I was thinking about this earlier and thinking that 64 ounces will probably be hard to get in at first.....

I’m glad you are feeling good. Funny about the husband thing though. My experience is that “husbands” have a lot of farts on a normal day to day basis. He’ll be ok!!! Lol

@doublepau Those are all good questions. My pre op appointment is on Thursday. I have a 2 hour appointment at the hospital that I will be having my procedure and a 1 hour appointment with my physician and her nurse. I’m not too sure what to expect but will have these questions and anymore I can think of before.

I’m so glad you got on the schedule for Monday! But I feel so bad for you. I had the flu 3 weeks ago and it was awful but I can only imagine having it while on pre-op. actually an extended pre-op!!! I hope you get to feeling better really soon!

This is a good question. My pre-op is on Thursday so I will be taking notes as well!

I would call the insurance company tomorrow and ask specifics for requirements. My insurance also said they needed a weight history For the past 2 years and over the phone they kept telling me that I would need to complete a 6 month diet followed by a physician. My surgeon's office decided to send in for a prior authorization after my first appointment because I had already completed my psych eval and they said well we'll just see what they say. 4 days later, it came back approved. So you could also try doing that and then if it's not approved, they will get you specific requirements for approval. But I seriously doubt that you will need to wait years to establish that history. Usually I've seen 6 months as the max wait time. Good luck though and don't get discouraged!

Ugh. I am there right now! I start my pre-op A week from today and I have this whole week planned with my favorite dinners. I'm trying really hard not to go too crazy but it's a little hard. I'm trying to be very careful for breakfast and lunch so that I can enjoy my dinner. And it's not horrible food but things I won't be eating post-op like meals with potatoes, pastas and that type of thing.

Hey everyone. I have not had my appointment yet with my nutritionist for pre op but am scheduled for rny next month. I have just started trying to cook some post op things and freeze them. Tonight I made kidney beans with a 4 pepper sausage. I had onions, green pepper, cilantro, garlic and other seasonings/spices in there. Can I use these beans for either a soft or purée food?(of course I would have to purée it) Also, this time cooking it, I added extra water to the beans. When it was done cooking and before I added a cornstarch mixture to thicken it up for our meal tonight, I took a good amount of the liquid out. It is very liquid and not creamy at all. Could this be used as a clear or full liquid after being strained? are beans considered a “healthy” food choice post op?
