I NEED THIS SURGERY
lvidacovich replied to India2020's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
She's in Mexico and Self Pay section and it doesn't have much movement, she's right. -
Protein intake sounds good but you should be at 64 oz of water at least. If you don't get that much then you'll start retaining water as you get dehydrated. Personally I was getting 96 oz a day by 2 weeks out. And I'm just like you - I love data! I weigh myself at least a couple nights a week and every morning. I mean, its why we had the surgery right? Of course I wanna see how my changes day to day affect my weight!
-
Weight swings of up to 5 pounds either way can be caused by water weight. Especially when you move from liquid diet to soft/puree/normal foods. What stage are you on now? Are you getting your protein and water in each day? Any walking yet?
-
I hope that's a misprint - you just had the sleeve at 131 pounds?
-
My doc said that anyone who ever wants to take NSAIDS after surgery should have the sleeve. In fact I got sent home from the hospital with a script for ibuprofen and was told to alternate that with tylenol. So I have a hard time believing all these docs that don't want anyone with a sleeve to take NSAIDS.

Sip and walk, sip and walk. Gas X supposedly helps too. I didn't have much gas pain from mine.

Last 7 days. Full liquid diet of hell.

I keep hearing other sleeve people say that they are only allowed tylenol yet I went home from the surgery with a script for ibuprofen! Was told to alternate it with tylenol and take oxy as needed. Additionally we were told that if we wanted or needed to take NSAIDS for anything after surgery, have the sleeve. Not sure if my doc is progressive or behind haha -

Thanks for the info! Re: the point quoted above, this is only partially true. BariatricPal auto-links some things to their shop. Hover over the link to see where it leads to be sure. Example: Protein Shakes -
This is great info - thank you so much!

This is awesome and very similar to what I hope to have happen but I'd love to be under 250 at 7 months for a trip to Hawaii!!

Sorry, I missed that in your first post. -
I've been considering a personal trainer, just to get the basic exercises I need and to make sure I'm doing them correctly. You'd say it's been worth it? I'm also VERY interested in sports fitness - where you do ropes and move tires and all that stuff as a workout. Seems more fun than lifting weights all the time.

You're not getting a sleeve right? It'll make the GERD worse. -

As much as I wanted to hate it I think i really like tofu! Wife made some tofu nuggets that tasted nothing like chicken BUT they were nice and flavorful and soft when I needed soft food still. I got some panko style pork rind breadcrumbs and I'd like to try my hand at air-frying another batch in those after soaking them in some chicken broth or something. -
What to have on hand post surgery
lvidacovich replied to TwinMom1221's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For me it was helpful to have everything I needed. I got all my prescriptions before my surgery and I had a ton of different protein shakes and powders ready to go. -
Approved on first letter but of course they denied the actual claim from the hospital.

What percent of your stomach do they take out?

You're right - didn't see the forum section or the first post. Sorry! -

lvidacovich replied to Ninja-slash-nerd's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I've been told it all depends on the surgeon and how things look when they get in there. Anywhere from 60-85% could be removed. -
i can go skydiving now!!!!!!!

Congrats on this! It's on my list of things to do once I get to my goal weights as well! -
Blender that purees
lvidacovich replied to JanLPhun's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOVE our ninja so much we have 2. One for the smaller cups for single protein shakes and a bigger one. Only problem is that the blades seem to dull quite quickly - we're usually replacing or sharpening the blade once a year. Brandless also has a blender that supposedly compares with the vitamix for far less. -
I survived Thanksgiving with a (small) loss!
lvidacovich replied to loridee11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great work! Turkey day seemed to coincide with starting real fat loss for me so I lost 6 pounds over the long weekend. -
Nothing tastes good or the same
lvidacovich replied to hockleymom's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
We were told that our tastes might change after surgery. So far the only issue I've had is tortilla chips tasting bad haha - prolly a good thing! -

Why would we have or want sugar? Ketosis is great! I hope you're not suggesting recent bariatric patients eat sugar.... -
Feedback please!! Sleeve verses bypass
lvidacovich replied to Nomorepasta's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I personally chose the sleeve. It matched the excess weight I wanted to lose, seemed to be the less invasive surgery and according to my EDG I've never had GERD or issues with that. I also wasn't interested in dumping or anything so I wanted sleeve from the start.
