I took myself off my meds 2 weeks before surgery and I've been around 120/80 since surgery without issue.

Acid reflux is seriously a pain!!
lvidacovich replied to Isabelmonster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are we allowed baking soda? A teaspoon in warm water is what I used to chug down for heartburn pre-op, you'll belch like crazy but it'll be gone in 10 mins. -
The biggest emotional rollercoaster with this surgery
lvidacovich replied to Soon2bSleeved12/2019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Think about it logically - if you continue to be fat and have health problems then you make the doctor more money than a normal patient. Why would they want you to be healthy if their goal is money? My PCP was the one who suggested I do all this in the first place and he's been very glad I did it. -
If it's all food all the time then call your surgeon. Could be a stricture.

It's crazy how different we all are. I had fyro meat 3 weeks post op during my soft food phase. Loved it.

This is the sleeve forum so I assume they are referring to how they make the sleeve from the stomach.

There's very little difference in acidity between dark and light roasts. You might wanna try cold brew. https://henryshouseofcoffee.com/2018/03/03/whats-better-for-your-stomach/

If you're getting your protein and water in then yes, this is the normal 2-5 week stall. Can happen anytime in there. My weight loss slowed (but didn't stall) to 1-2 pounds a week during that time. I'd be the exact same weight 2 or 3 or even 4 days in a row (down to the tenth) and then I'd lose 1 pound. Did that for about 3 weeks and lost 6 pounds over 3 days over Thanksgiving. Now I'm back to about a pound a day. All that to say, this is normal. You'll make it through. Yours might be a little longer since you're just now integrating normal foods.

Yes, that's correct. There's also usually sutures over the staple line.

Is there any interest in a live chat like slack for members here? I'd be happy to set up the slack workspace and be the admin. -
How many grams of carbs are you getting in a day? And how many total calories?
-
I gotta know - did you lose a ton of weight when you were in the hospital?

What was your diet pre op like?
lvidacovich replied to Ninja-slash-nerd's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Mine was one day and it was clear liquids and I was allowed protein water so I can't really help! -
Issues with solids. Plz help me!!!
lvidacovich replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think your bite was too big. In the beginning I was taking baby spoon sized bites - a 2 oz burger should be at LEAST 4 bites, if not 6. I turn a 3 oz sausage into 6 or 8 bites and in the beginning I was trying to take 5 mins between bites. Now I'm at 30 seconds or so and I see how I feel. -
I think this might be a fun topic
lvidacovich replied to Isabelmonster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do a premier shake every morning. I don't do breakfast other than the weekends or for dinner lol. For lunch I need to do better but I have some packaged "add water and microwave" meals from bariatric pal. Sometimes I have leftovers from dinner. Doing a lot of diced pre-cooked chicken, burgers, etc. Stuff that's easy to heat and eat at work. For dinner I have some great meatballs from trader joes, fish nuggets from trader joes, sometimes another shake if I worked out hard and want to hit 100 grams of protein that day. Tonight is leftover spicy pork from my ramen on Sunday and I'll mix it with a serving of Unjury Chili. Should be really good! -
Is the pre op liquid diet for losing weight before the surgery? or is it for cleaning out the intestines and stomach before surgery?
lvidacovich replied to Ninja-slash-nerd's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's for liver shrinking - when you go on that liquid diet and go low carb you lose your glucose stores in your liver as well. -

I had something similar happen last week - refreshing the page (or going to the home page and then back to the topic page) seemed to fix it. It was almost like part of the CSS didn't load before the page loaded fully. -
Question about caffeine
lvidacovich replied to RedDackel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have a no caffeine rule pre-op so I'm not sure why you did but I know all doctors are different. I also only had a 1 day pre-op diet. I stopped caffeine the day of surgery and haven't had any since. -
I think the headache is from being slightly dehydrated. And no, I don't think dumping can be delayed. Dumping is from your gallbladder dumping a ton of bile into the small intestine because you consume something sugary or fatty and your gallbladder thinks you're about to eat a big meal so it thinks you need all the bile! Well as we know none of us eat big meals so all that bile goes straight through you, causing dumping. So I don't see how that could delay.

How many calories a day do you eat?
lvidacovich replied to BQT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No. Protein and Carbs are both 4 calories per gram. 40 g carbs = 160 calories, 70 g protein = 280 == 440 calories total. As I track things I haven't had a problem getting to 70 protein, staying under 40 carbs and stopping around 700 total calories. -
Foods you can no longer tolerate
lvidacovich replied to MrsRobinson4411's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love it because it lasts FOREVER in the fridge and I don't use milk very often. For real, check the expiration date on your carton - guarantee it's at least 6 weeks from now. Sometimes I can get it with a 2 month window. -
When can I have some rice? Lol
lvidacovich replied to dpendleton02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think your team banning or not banning foods is the issue. It's up to you what you put in your mouth, no matter what's on your plan. I'm 7 weeks out and I have hunger too but I'm working through it. It's possible. And you're not done either! You can reset your stomach or go back to basics or increase your exercise! -
VSG cramping after purees, otherwise I'm a bottomless pit for fluids
lvidacovich replied to jason2483's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First there's no need to keep reposting this on multiple posts - just once or make a post your own. Second - don't think that because you have no restriction now that its broken. I remembered thinking the same thing and then I sat down to attempt to eat my first egg. Didn't get the whole thing in lol. That said I think that doing what you're doing will cause you to fail, if i can be frank. Stick to the portion sizes you were given. -
Let the shopping begin!
lvidacovich replied to ColoradoCanuck's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
For a normal work casual office? No, not really. Guys don't have anything that would work that I know of. My joggers and athletic pants wouldn't pass. Luckily I work in a very casual office (shorts and sandals in the summer all the time) so I can get away with it. -
I think (and hope) your big fear is unfounded. Anything under 1200 cals for guys tends to put and keep us in starvation mode so I feel pretty confident that we need to hit that or more to be in maintenance and would need to go even higher to start gaining weight. Will the loss slow down as we go up in cals? Of course! But not to the point of gain?
