7 weeks post op and risking it
lvidacovich replied to Isabelmonster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just like momofangels I was cleared for anything other than salad and raw veggies by 4 weeks. So I think you'll be fine. -
Best tasting protein drink/powder
lvidacovich replied to Danielleh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try some of the other premiere flavors - cookies and cream and carmel are two of my favs. Never liked strawberry or chocolate. Unjury is pretty good as well. Personally my tastes haven't changed after surgery from what they were before. -
No, my surgeon told me to stay very far away from Tespo and vitamin patches. Thanks though!

Yes, transfer addiction to alcohol is very real and a real problem post bariatric surgery. As said, you absorb it much faster (alcohol absorbs in the small intestine and for post-op people we have very little or no stomach left so guess where all that alcohol goes first - yup, the small intestine!). All that said, I plan to drink some at 6 months. I'll be in Hawaii for my 10th anniversary. I'm talking 1 drink a day, maximum. And that's only if I'm well on my way to my goal weight at that time and I will absolutely log those calories!

to implant or not to implant
lvidacovich replied to mousecat88's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Not sure if this is an option for you but look into a lipo fat fill. They lipo fat from somewhere you don't want it and add it to the breast. You can only really safely gain a cup size or so doing this. Don't ask how I happen to know about this procedure. -
I think I am having gallbladder problems but I am only 3 1/2 weeks out from surgery.....
lvidacovich replied to despacit0w0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Possible? Yes. Likely? Prolly not. From what I understand the pain from a gallbladder is excruciating! You'd be in WAY more pain than you say you are. -
Yes, for those that take it - what do you take? So many options! I wish I could get someone to combine all the pills I'm supposed to take into one in the morning and one at night. I might need to use one of those pill packs or something lol

How are you going? I had a trip planned there earlier this year but our wonderful president decided to close Cuba via the two methods I was planning on using to travel there and my trips were cancelled. So jealous is an understatement! I'm still trying to find a way in.

How often do others weigh themselves?
lvidacovich replied to Binglebug1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
DAILY!! I'm a data nerd and want to correlate what I did the day(s) before with any changes in my weight. I need all the information I can get to see trends as well. -
It's normal and good I think. I had 2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks soft and at 4 weeks i was cleared for anything I could handle other than raw veggies and salad. I think the sooner you progress to real food the better it is in terms of getting used to foods.

Like Chix said, this is the famous 3 week stall. For me, my weight loss slowed drastically but didn't stop during that period. Soon you'll find you lose 5 pounds in a couple days and then a pound a day until you hit another stall around 8 weeks and then another around 3 months lol. It sucks but we have to get used to it, it's part of the process.

4 weeks is a LONG time to be on liquid only, especially if you had a 2 week pre-op liquid diet as well. I'd say follow your plan BUT talk to your team, see if you can progress. By 4 weeks I was cleared for anything other than salad and raw veggies.

Yesterday was 2 months for me. Still at 57 pounds down - been at 270 for a week now. Hovering between 270-272 depending on the day. I've been following my plan, tracking my food and everything but still no movement. This is my first true stall, the others were just slowdowns but I'd still lose a pound or two over the course of the week. It's incredibly frustrating. I hope I'm not one of those who lose 50-60 pounds quickly and just stop. I didn't do all this just for that. Working out has been going good, hitting it at least 5 days a week. Lifting 3x and barre or walking the other 2 days. I plan to go home and walk 3 miles today and hope that helps my stall. I'll be INCREDIBLY mad if I hit Xmas at 270.

Got on the scale this morning and saw 268.5! Had a nice 3 mile walk yesterday and I'm going to hit the gym today. Would LOVE to hit 267 this week and be at 60 pounds total. I'm also a good 2-3 weeks ahead of the goals needed to hit 250 before my Hawaii trip.

VSG cramping after purees, otherwise I'm a bottomless pit for fluids
lvidacovich replied to jason2483's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No! Do the chews, not the pills. The chews are like little candy treats for me at least. -
Hernia Repair After RNY

It won't keep you from all exercises. Start walking - just make sure you walk enough to get your heart rate up! -
Gastric Sleeve cancelled now knee surgery
lvidacovich replied to debra102364's topic in The Gals' Room
Good luck! I think you'd need it now more than ever since you'll be more sedentary and that makes it harder to lose weight without the sleeve. -
You can buy a scale that does a rudimentary job of giving your stats - fat, water, bone, etc. As long as you use the same one then the results should be good for comparison sake. There are also handheld versions. They work by sending electrical signals through your body and measuring resistance. For me the one linked below would be cheaper than a gym or doctor visit. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0020MMCDE/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_.CraEbF8XBSBH

2 Week Post-Op Hair Shedding
lvidacovich replied to PlanetHopper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Biotin and collagen, start taking them now. -
Thank you! Logically I know the math is there I burn 400-800 cals a day working out depending on what I do and I eat around 750 cals a day so it's just a matter of catching up and making it all work out!
-
Ok - I'll hope for something tomorrow or on Xmas then! And of course this was preceded by a random drop from 274 to 270 last week so I'll just say it took me a week to actually lose that 4 pounds lol!

Quick update - still dealing with this but I've got it down to 1 thing that insurance says they still need - the NDC # for a generic drug I was given - C9399. Hospital told me they requested it but might not get it back and if so they'll tell the insurance they can't provide it and I won't be charged for it. I'm gonna give them the week off from my calls since it's Christmas but next Monday I'm hitting everyone up and asking for updates - making sure insurance has everything they need and finding out how long it'll take for them to decide how much they're paying and thus how much I have to pay. Wish me luck!

I was hoping this would all get resolved and I wouldn't need to post about it but here we are. My surgeon and her team always had trouble with my insurance. They wouldn't respond to requests and they could never give me an idea of how much it would cost me. I got a pre-approval from insurance before surgery. After surgery my $130k bill got sent over to insurance and of course they denied it. They said they requested medical records from my provider but that request came through BCBS Oklahoma since I'm out of state from BCBS Arkansas. My provider said that request gets routed through the billing department and that they'd check to make sure they got the request. It's been a week now and I got the letter with the $130k bill where insurance paid like $500. Every line item has a note saying "Medical records requested and not received" and one line item said "Weight loss procedures not covered" despite getting pre-approval. I'm also $300 short of my OOP max and I paid that a week before my surgery but of course my insurance doesn't show that payment and shows me still under my OOP max so I'm still paying out of pocket for everything. So at this point I'm incredibly worried. If the hospital doesn't send my records then they have to write it off right? Am I better off not calling them to see if they got the request in the hope that they write it off? If I do get a bill for $130k or so would it be too late to convert to self pay and just pay $10k? Has this happened to anyone else and how did it work out for you?

3 month appt. What I am doing wrong
lvidacovich replied to Lynda486's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 months out and I was closer to 800 but at my 6 week appt I was told I'd be at 800 when I get to 3 months so I'm trying to stick to 700 or so for now. -
10 Week Post Op Weight loss stall
lvidacovich replied to Joyfuljourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Change something up. Eat a bit more, increase your carbs or protein or water intake or change up/increase your exercise. That should clear it within a week. I haven't hit a true stall longer than 3 days yet (knock on wood) but there have been full weeks where my weight loss has slowed to 1-2 pounds in those weeks.
