50 pounds just since surgery? In 4 weeks? WOW! Also by week 4, which I just hit yesterday, I personally was cleared to eat anything other than salad and raw veggies. I had a sleeve. I know nuts are something that don't always sit well but I'd stay away from all those processed carbs.

BCBS Arkansas here - timing wasn't an issue. I met my providers criteria on Aug 22, they scheduled surgery for Oct 22 and I was submitted for approval in late September and had approval on Oct 2.

Problem digesting meat?
lvidacovich replied to Joyfuljourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What meats are you eating? Make sure they're low fat - 93/7 beef or ground turkey. No more fat than that really. -

Answers are gonna be all over the place, very dependent on the individual. My meal plan recommends over 100 carbs per day as I get further in my plan and I never see myself getting to that. At least not daily. -
I'll trade half my nacho for half your garlic parm lol!
-
I got some nacho and really like them for a quick snack. $24 for that size is a bit much though but that seems to be par for the course for healthy/high protein foods.

Jitters - Q’s looking for A’s
lvidacovich replied to CapyCapybara's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're welcome. I can't imagine how hard it would be with all those young kids lol. Worst I had was toy sized puppers not realizing it was bad to jump on dads tummy haha -
Absolutely! I do a premier protein shake for breakfast daily. All 11 oz.

Jitters - Q’s looking for A’s
lvidacovich replied to CapyCapybara's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I disagree with Tylo. I took the surgery and night in the hospital as a new birth, came home to all the things I need and my new lifestyle and way of eating. No sippy cups, no straws. I have 3 or 4 different 32 oz water bottles that I drink from. Makes my intake easy to track. Not sure if PO is pre or post but clear just means see through. Jello, any color, popsicles are all fair game. You can have protein water or isolates like Syntrax Nectar. Buy a scale, preferably a nice one that does water and bone weight as well. A large part of this surgery is losing weight - you don't wanna know how that's going? Yes, and it's been a big help for me personally. Ask them about the puree stage. My surgeon didn't have one. I went from liquids to soft foods. I could have pureed stuff but I was also able to eat ground beef and turkey so why would I puree? It'll be at least a month. Walk as much as you can during that time. Can't help with this one, I didn't have a drain and don't have kids to pull on things lol I weaned myself off my nightly melatonin before surgery and it was one of the best things I did. -
Just starting full liquids

How far post op and what type of surgery did you have? -
Those don't align. Also you're not supposed to get pregnant for at least 18 months after surgery and the REAL reason is that you're supposed to meet your weight loss goals before trying to get pregnant. Sounds like you need to do some head work before you resort to another surgery.

Post op healing - How long till I can return to work?
lvidacovich replied to RachaelEM's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my sleeve on a Tuesday and honestly, I could have been at work that Thursday and Friday if I had to. I was able to work from home the next week and could have gone in the office. We're younger, which helps us a lot. -
Did they give you zofran and/or a PPI? If so, make sure you're taking them. I didn't have that issue but I don't get nausea in general. Describe the symptoms more!

Sleeved 11/12/19
lvidacovich replied to kissmybeautty's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Give it time. You get pushed so full of fluids at the hospital that its easy to gain 10-15 pounds just from that! It'll start coming off fast, at least it did for me! -
Weight loss and gain

I assume you're asking for stats to back this up? Have a gander, tons here: https://www.google.com/search?q=weighing+daily+for+weight+loss&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS830US830&oq=weighing+daily+for+weight+loss&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l4.7064j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Lots of places say daily for weight loss. I'm a data person by nature. I NEED data to back my choices. So I weigh daily. -
Just had my 6 week follow up and told I need to eat more
lvidacovich replied to Panda333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 weeks tomorrow and I struggle to stay under 650-700. I still can't seem to corrolate anything with the days I lose vs the days I stay the same. Not water, carbs, protein, cals, exercise. -
Week 3 Post VSG Troubles

You said you wanted some meat - you're 17 days out so eat some meat! I was cleared for soft foods at 14 days and was eating ground turkey or beef without issue! -
Anecdotal but my surgeon did not recommend patches or the Tespo. Maybe ask for shots?

First date in 2 years! 😩

Yes, don't start a possible relationship with lies. Also - from the guy side of things - if I took someone out and they brought their own bouillon cubes or the like? RED FLAG -
I want to see those October Sleevers!

Had mine on 10/22. Doing well so far but the loss is slowing. -
Weight loss and gain
lvidacovich replied to Dawnsiman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I pretty hardcore disagree with this. Studies have show that those who lose weight and keep it off weigh themselves often, mostly daily. Also, with as little as we eat, I think its good to make daily changes and see how that affects our weight from day to day. But I understand your sentiment. -
Going out to eat...
lvidacovich replied to karlee0206's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 weeks post op (I was in soft foods stage, we didn't have a puree stage) I had like 2 oz of a chipotle bowl. I've also had some BBQ (really soft brisket) without issue. Breakfast places if you order an egg a la carte should be fine as well. -
Personally I haven't noticed any changes yet but I'm just over 3 weeks post-op. I hope they do change a bit so that I can tolerate veggies more.

Protein and Weight Loss (unrelated)
lvidacovich replied to lvidacovich's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Back on topic - I lost a pound this morning, which was great! I've been doing better about tracking my intake and I think I'm getting too many calories for this phase so now I'm shooting for 650 a day and whatever that gets me protein wise. Some days it might be 100g and others I might be closer to 70g. -
Bowmar protein powder
lvidacovich replied to KCgirl061's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Looking at the stats compared to Isopure or Unjury or Premier it seems fine. Some good stuff there too in terms of other items and flavors - might have to try some!
