I had surgery on 12/12/19 and I dropped 20lbs right away, then another 3 over the 3rd week. But I've been stalled for over a week and a half. I decided to stay consistent with my protein, meet my water goals and stay on top of my vitamins. After a couple days of this, I dropped 3lbs over night!! I know it's a small victory but after having surgery being stalled so long is worrisome. Anyone else go through this?

I am almost 12 weeks out and although I know I can't chug water, I will take several sips at a time, then several more. I think I did this too many times today because I think it made me nauseous? Anyone else drink too much water and have similar issues?

Cucumbers & Tomatoes
jlb8080 replied to CoolBreeze's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about 11 weeks post op, but I was allowed to introduce these in at 6 weeks. One of my fav go-to snacks is cut up cucumber, tomatoes, and i'll had shrimp and imitation lobster.. soak it in lemon juice and pepper. I keep it in the fridge so I have it available. It's yummy and has the protein -
Anyone else not have a goal weight? Sometimes I'll be like oh 150 would be nice, but honestly at this point I just want to be less than 180 like I was when I thought I was fat 😂 Little did I know how fat I was gonna get 🙄

@TheJuice202 that sounds smart. I'm only 10 weeks out so I have a long ways to go. I'm sure a lot of people need a number to keep pushing. The further along I go I feel like I may need to do the same thing to keep motivated! I've just always eaten pretty healthy.. so I know the weight will come off.

My surgeon didn't give me one either. I'm sure they always give a higher number to make sure they have success with your procedure. I personally don't feel like setting a number for myself is beneficial and if anything it would make the whole process even more agonizing with weighing myself and discouraged if the weight doesn't fall off fast enough. I prefer just taking it day by day and not putting a ton of pressure on myself.

Initial Consult Update
jlb8080 replied to GrungeGrownUp's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So my insurance didn't require any of the weigh-ins. I just had one appt with the surgeon, nutritionist and the psych evaluation all in the same day. They submitted it to my insurance and they approved it in a few days. I was scheduled for surgery 3 weeks later. It went so fast I didn't have time to wuss out 😂 It is strange how so many insurance companies have such different views on the subject. Especially when it eliminates so many medications by having the weight loss surgery. It's in their benefit I would think. -
I moved to purees week 2, soft foods week 3 and could add in other foods at week 4. By week 6 I was cleared to eat anything I wanted. It's weird how every doctor is different. I am 10 weeks out and eat all sorts of things. I haven't had steak or pork chops or anything that seems tough. I have had some lettuce, but not a full salad. It's all been fine. Eggs are a go to for me. I even do boiled eggs for breakfast. Or let me say ONE boiled egg LOL. If I can even get the whole thing down before I'm full 😂

Will I be approved for surgery?
jlb8080 replied to imaginegirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was approved because my BMI was over 40. I didn't have to have any other issues, which I don't. I did have to have a psychological evaluation, but that was it for my insurance to approve me. -

Those of y’all who say you had a sip of soda and that’s a cheat, ate 5 Doritos, that’s a cheat.. come on. This site is making me crack up. -
I am 9 weeks post op and down 30lbs. Not the fastest weight loss but I’m happy with it. I haven’t gained any since starting, just a steady loss. I can pretty much eat anything.. haven’t tried much salad or of course steak. Had a super long 2-3 week stall and the pounds are coming off again. I think once you’re healed it starts coming back off?? Anyone else feel that?? I’m just going off what I’ve read on here and what I’m experiencing. I am feeling better as the weeks go on. More confident, which has been a struggle.

I used insurance for mine, but I know a TON of people who went to the OCC in Tijuana and it's suppose to be world renowned. My sister is going there this week for surgery and she had to pay $6500. Def worth looking into!!

I swallowed my medications day 1 in the hospital. As long as they were smaller than a pencil eraser. I don't think absorption is an issue. They gave me a pill splitter for anything larder. I've been taking them whole along with my vitamins in pill form for over a month now. I am 9 weeks out.

I am not limited caffeine. I am 9 weeks out and drink coffee here and there. Not a lot, but it's not against my surgeons plan..

I have learned to stop at about 3/4 cup of food. A cup is too much at this point. And no, my doctor's office didn't have anything to say about weighing every day. My opinion is it's probably not the best idea. I take days off from weighing and feel a lot better than weighing and seeing the scale not move lol
-
Yeah, same here. I stayed at the same weight maybe a few ounces different during the stall. I hope I’m finally past that! I think we see the first 15-20 come off so fast it’s like we expect that to continue lol. Weighing daily is def a struggle lol. I’ve taken days off from weighing and it seems that’s when I drop a pound or two lol

Mix collagen into protein shakes?
jlb8080 replied to fiddlinjellybean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m taking biotin and collagen in my shakes. And biotin is in my bariatric vitamin. -
Hard to take a deep breath
jlb8080 replied to Chas74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did! It took a few weeks to stop. -
I know bone broth has more protein than regular broth if you’re only on liquids. That may be an option. Or tasteless protein like isopure to add to soups.

I went through insurance with zero hoops. Just a meeting with the surgeon, dietician, and a psych eval. All done in one day, was approved less than a week later. So def worth looking into. My deductible was only $500.

Looking for a buddy/support system I am in Athens GA

GO DAWGS!!! I'm in Montana but a HUGE UGA fan lol -
So I’ve never been one to not eat healthy. I gained 80lbs because of health issues in just a couple years. I was super fit and a personal trainer before that. I had surgery in December 2019. I mainly eat protein naturally. Is it important to eat more protein for a reason? I notice I can’t eat much more than the protein anyways?
-
I guess I wasn't sure if there was a scientific reason for bariatric patients? Other than the normal protein fills you up and keeps us from eating other "bad" things. I don't drink many protein shakes now days and haven't in a couple weeks. I'm only 8 weeks out.

How are my fellow December surgeries doing?
jlb8080 replied to lys's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had the sleeve done on 12/12 and I'm doing good. Finally down 30lbs. 20lbs came off within the first week then the other just gradually after days of stalling. Sometimes a week of stalls. I heard this is normal while you heal. I'm hoping it starts dropping more now. I feel I've broke the stall. fingers crossed lol
