  1. I see your point Plain, though I think it will not run out easily, byt maybe eventually, but at least we do something now that could benefit us if not forever, for a very long time, and while we do that, I definitely think we can pursue other options to get off oil, that would be a good thing, but not easy either, so for now why not doing both and try every way that we can to help ourselves, completely agree with you on the fact that since the Carter administration and after that, we should've been looking for better options.
  2. Gee, I've never seen this thread before, but Plain you nailed it, "super classy" and like someone else said, moronic and stupid too.... sometimes I just don't get some people.....most of the times...:rolleyes2:

Who's the man Obama or MCcain?

LilMissBand, I also hate to get into these discussions because like you said, they are so touchy, I feel like we all state our views but ultimately it's hard to agree, I believe that this issue has been there before Reagan...but I do agree with you in one thing, I can't believe that people don't see the truth, I know I have READ, READ AND READ AND WILL KEEP READING, I like you hope that we all keep researching and opening our eyes to the truth, even if it's to find out that we still can't agree...:smile2:
  4. Not bad to make that up all on your own BJ! You know , some republicans don't like McCain because he has crossed party lines before and because they consider him "liberal", blah..blah.., but don't count myself in that group though, I think he is moderate and I like him even if he's had a flip or two on the deck of a boat before:tt2:, hey nobody is perfect... I didn't like Kerry and granted that the flip flopping didn't help him in general, but that was not the reason why I didn't vote for him.

Who's the man Obama or MCcain?

Sorry , but disagree again, this is not a set up, but reality, I do agree we need to keep expanding the drilling, what type of renewable energy do we want for cars and when will it be available? I believe we should've been drilling more long time ago and maybe, just maybe we may not be in this situation right now and and I do believe that it's one of the reasons if not the main why we are paying those high prices for gas, I'm also in favor of looking into wind energy, solar energy, wave energy etc as other options, but the US should not depend on foreign oil. We are all Americans first before we are Democrats or Republicans, just my two cents, I do agree with Jack wholeheartedly on this one and in my case, this is another reason why I will not vote for Obama and why I will with all my heart vote for McCain. And about Michael Moore, I don't know about honesty, he brought up the health care system in Cuba in his movie as being one of the best in the world, well, I guaranteed you that is far from honesty and from the truth, he LIED, and lied some more, and I know because I lived there, I'm living proof that he lied about that, I could tell you horror stories about Cuba's "national health care", Moore's claims were so wrong that they were actually funny, and if he lied about that, why should I believe anything else he says, Keep in mind that when you see his movies, that you are only seeing one side of the story and basically what he does is go into these documentaries with an agenda, and he edits clips of video together that support his agenda, regardless of what his subjects actually said. sorry Moore's supporters out there, don't mean to be offensive, but just stating my opinion, same with everything else I just said, I do meant it respectfully.

    Just ate....

I like the size of the sleeve......... a man's middle finger.... but would've preferred a WOMAN's middle finger.... What you ate was way too much, liquids and mushies are better for this stage.... lots of ice cream.... gallons.... and you can make shakes with it by also adding oreo cookies, apple pie, oh the variety!... and since it's liquids, you can have 7-8 a day.... it will satisfy your sweet craving and will fill you up!
  7. Well, I don't know, I think that we may have more oil in the shale of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming combined than in the Middle East ... It's not popular because the environmentalists, yes I wish we'd have the perfect energy solution, but we just don't have one right now and I don't see one in the horizon, and to get off of oil will also take a long time, ugh! the whole issue is just chaos and I hate to keep paying those high prices, somebody please do something:cursing:
  8. I personally think that drilling should continue, we need to develop more secure domestic sources of energy like oil and natural gas, I think Alaska is willing and able to assist our country in addressing our energy needs while researching alternative energy at the same time, I know this option is not so popular, but I think it's necessary and other areas as well.

Should I be a witch, or no?

My first reaction is to tell you not to give her the desk and tell her off as she deserves it, I also get so tired of people taking advantage...ugh! But I think it may bring you even more aggravation if you don't give it to her, you then would have to deal with her, plus you would have to dump it for her too, plus she may be evil and try to find out where you are going and harrass you, who knows, she sounds irresponsible and like a nut, so you will be better off just letting her take it and getting rid of her once and for all.... it's not even worth it...
  10. But then taxes will be increased for the oil companies, and wouldn't we end up paying higher taxesl? sounds as if we could tax our way out of the problem.... I don't know know if that;s the solution..

Who's the man Obama or MCcain?

Hi BJ, without a doubt I think he did the right thing, even if it was partially a political move which I can't be sure, but it was still the right thing to do and I appreciate the explanations and the fact that he publicly adressed it and made sure that he said that he didn't agree and cleared his position, I think that it had to be hard for him at the moment, but I think it did have meaning. I think I've said it before, I'm cuban, came here when I was 14 years old, so I'm an immigrant and a minority, I know a little bit about prejudice, but I have not witnessed racism the way you have here in the US and believe me, I understand why those who have feel angry and they have the right to be angry and it's not about pretending that it never happened, but it's about starting to heal and moving forward though.. in fact that's what Obama has kept saying, that it's about unifying and moving forward and getting passed the color of the skin among other things, so when Wright came out with all that crap, well, that certainly didn't help Obama or anybody else for that matter, I agree that we both have been influenced by our political beliefs, I know I have, growing up in a communist country and going through the horrific experiences that I we went through definitely had an influence on on my political beliefs today.

Who's the man Obama or MCcain?

Sorry BJ, I have to disagree, Wright's statements were definitely not blown out of proportion, they were as clear as Water, no one has to take responsability for what the minister of a church says, but when that minister is the minister of your own church, then in my opinion I think you should distance yourself from it if you don't agree with the minister's views that leads it, I suppose I'm speaking for myself, I know I would.... Obama saying that he never heard him saying anything negative is indeed laughable, I do live in Chicago and I know many people that have lived here their entire lives and they knew about this church and the minister's views, if you do a little bit of research on Wright, you can easily find plenty of information about his views and who he has supported for years, not just recently, his speeches, views and opinions were known for a long time, but came more to light now because Obama, in fact Oprah used to attend that church years ago and she stopped because of this very same issue, in fact, he did try to bash her at the time for not attending anymore, but the whole thing didn't get as big as it did with Obama, which I can understand since he is running for president, sure Wright has done some positive for the black community and Africa, but that doesn't automatically makes him a good guy, and as far as the church being popular, unfortunately there are plenty out there that do agree with Wright, it's sad, but they are out there, others opted to ignore his views even if they didn't agree with him because he was helping with other causes that interested them which is typical, maybe others were ignorant, but I believe that most knew what Wright was about and in my opinion that includes Obama, being the smart person that he is, very active in the community and in the church, I don't know how he could've missed it..I don't blame him for backing away, he had too , I agree with you on that, not because the media and the republicans were crucifying him, but because it was the right thing to do, his only choice if he is indeed the decent person that he claims to be, the media is mostly liberal, if this would've happened to a republican candidate, I do believe that would've been the end for him/her, actually I think Obama got a break and the whole thing went away pretty quick, I'm not a democrat and obviously am not going to vote for him and the Wright thing did not affect me, but I suppose if I was a democrat I would feel a little uncomfortable with the whole situation, but if you are ok with it, then that's all it matters, we all perceive words and people differently and that's ok, I don't believe he is a muslim now so that shouldn't stick and he has said many times that he does not agree with Wright's views on certain subjects, so that shouldn't stick to him either. Being black and treated badly in America must be painful to a black person in ways that we can't even imagine being that neither of us are black but I'm sure we have a pretty good idea and yes it hurts, you bet I would be angry too, but even that does not excuse Wright's hateful speeches and does not make his views on certain things accurate and his way of expressing his anger, even if if he has valid reasons to be angry, is not positive, it's not going to solve any problems or improve the situation and it's extremely divisive and remember that Obama has emphasized so much on unifying, I for one am glad he stayed away from Wright and said it publicly, otherwise it would be worrisome.

    Tim Russert died

I saw that... at 58....that's too young to die... my condolences to his family. That's why we need to live each day as if it was our last...
  14. I still won't make up my find until I see McCain and Obama debate each other and hopefully by election time I can make up my mind without hesitation. brandyII:smile: You are a smart girl!!!!!!!!!
  15. YOu have a point Green about Ronny, though he did serve two terms as the governor of a liberal California, which I think it must've been a pretty tough job , also, after being an actor he was defeated in his run for the republican presidential nomination back in 68 and 76, the actor thing didn't help much at the time, so I don't know if it was really of much help in his election in 1980. What can I tell you Green, I biased...
  16. Definitely not a popular opinion and kudos to you for posting it! I agree that we ARE ready for a black president, I agree with you about Obama's lack of experience among other ultra liberal views that I'm not sure if the majority of the country if ready for, I think this country will be eventually though and unfortunately for me since I'm conservative....but I think that "partially" he has gotten far because he is black, because having a black man as the presidential candidate is such a step forward for our country that people are just so fired up about it, at least in my opinion, I'm one that thinks that we as a country have grown a lot when it comes to racism, I know we have more to grow, but I do see a huge positive change in that sense, and I think that in some cases people want to vote for him, even if it's just to prove to ourselves that we are ready for it, that we have changed, that we can do it.... however, the main reason why I think that he has gotten that far without the experience is because of the disgruntle with the existing president/war, since there are so many that feel that way towards president Bush and the war, (doesn't mean I'm including myself there...sorry:huh2:) they see Obama as the complete opposite ,therefore he "MUST" be the answer, Hillary did pretty well in the primaries, but the fact that she is a "Clinton" didn't make her look like the "new" "in" "drastic change" candidate, Obama came across that way... I will add that I do give him credit for being a smart educated guy and for getting to this point and for his achievements but I don't necessarily agree that drastic changes over all and/or across the board will necessarily be the right answer for our country, I think that being as progressive as he is and having so many changes in mind with such limited experience could end up in disaster, specially when it comes to foreing policies, just my opinion and respecting all the Obama supporters out there.

LOL!!!!!!!! A corpse....Oh Lordie, that was too funny........ Romney is a fine looking guy.... But I think I would like to see McCain/Jindal , I've seen an interview with Jindal and the guy is personable, seems so smart, I have to research more on him, but I'm liking him so far..... I have to look into Sarah Palin too.

Who's the man Obama or MCcain?

It's laughable for him to deny that he never knew the minister's real views, as you said, after 20+ years? I don't think so, unless he wasn't so smart as some claim that he is.... or unless he was actually naive, which democrats claim that he is not.... or unless he did know which it's my guess and he went along with it, he did call him his mentor for many years...I live in Chicago and plenty of people in Chicago knew about that minister and his views, people that never belonged to his church, but this guy was known, his views were public knowledge to many for years, his approval for Farrakahn, etc , so how is it possible that people that weren't close to him knew, but a member of his church for so many years with such a strong connection with him never knew? ....and in my opinion, being part o a church led by that man is shameful, what I have heard that man preach/say is offensive, racist, anti-american... Hey, maybe Obama "just" recently realized that the minister was wrong, well, I suppose that it's better late than never, but it's dissappointing that it took him so long, and denying that he knew it's simply lying in my opinion. I will add though that is not the only reason why I don't agree with Obama's views or why I'm not voting for him, being republican obviously we disagree on other issues, but if I was a democrat and I could agree with him on everything else, I don't know, maybe I could overlook this incident, but not even sure if I could.. I guess I would have to be in a democrat's shoes to know.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

LOL!, once upon a time...in the stone age.... I had a "pretty" flat tummy.... only temporary...I was never a stick skinny, but normal weight when I was between 15-18 years old... I was a fat child, then went on a extreme diet and exercise (Big shock right!) and lost a lot of weight and got a little toned and was ok until I got married at 18.... then I started gaining again.... so I had that short period of time in my life when I remember having a decently flat belly and I had perky boobs, I remember I didn't have to wear a bra and looked ok, but I was a B cup though.... at 18 I started gaining weight again, the perky boobs became bigger and bigger, I suppose because the rest of my body was getting bigger.... and the little perky rascals started heading south with a vengeance... and the rest is history.... I'm 45 now.... that should give you a mental picture.... sorry, I know it's a horror mental picture.... if I could ever have a flat tummy and perky boobs again I sure would be jumping up and down for joy.... please keep me updated and let me how everything goes, I wish you nothing but the best!

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Oh well, GOOD! I didn't know you already went for your first consult! you are on your way! yeah, I don't think you will find anything cheaper, that sounds reasonable to me as well... your thinking about finishing grad school with that much debt and more is very true, plus this is money that you are spending on yourself, I mean your own body, and heck we have to live with our bodies for the rest of our lives, that alone is more than sufficient reason to do it if you can, so don't ever regret it, everytime you look in the mirror after you do it, you will realized it was so worth it. oh I'd be so excited if I was you, can't remember the last time I saw myself with a flat belly.... or perky bobbies of course..

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Well, you deserve this and remember that 13 pounds away from goal is not much, so you may want to make the appointment soon because sometimes they may not have appointments right away, you know depending on what doctor you are seeing, some are really busy, so I would get on it! and I understand about the financial part, but go to the appointment, after the exam, they'll tell you how much is going to be and then you decide if you can do it in August or wait for December, but I would still go to the appointment, man, that is so cool, I'm not at goal, but if I was, I would LOVE to get me some TT.... I have two kids, teenagers and some thousands of dollars in debt  and that's not counting what's coming when they go out to college, so I probably couldn't do it, but you are young and single, so GO FOR IT! plus you've earned it!
