Jachut, Chris wasn't "defending" the joke, he was simply expressing that it WAS a joke and that he thought it was funny, which is actually different from "defending" the joke .... Also, in case you didn't notice, he wasn't the only one expressing the same point of view, there were others.... including me.... Also, millions of americans LOVE Eddie Murphy!!!!!!!!!!! me included!!!!!!!!! and everything he says I take it as a JOKE! and I think he is darn hilarious! granted that I'm not saying that Chris likes him or not, I don't know that, I'm only speaking for myself.... If I'd go by what you said about the way you feel about Eddie Murphy, I guess youmay then think that millions of americans are filthy pigs because they are all laughing at his jokes.....

Oh gee... I for one can see the difference of an obvious racial slur and a stupid joke.... I could punch somebody for saying a racial slur and I could laugh about the stupid joke...yes, even if involves a religion, it's still a joke....I agree with you Chris.:faint:

Hey guys, As some of you probably know from previous posts, I'm Christian, but I admit that I'm far from being a perfect one, gee, I have too many faults to even count...! all I'm doing is trying to be a better person, but believe me, sometimes I fail and I just try again.... actually in my opinion as long as you keep trying to be a decent kind hearted person, that's what counts.. Anywho, I struggle with forgiveness, I have the best intentions to forgive when someone has done wrong to me, and I say to myself, I forgive such person for what she/he did to me, and I'm talking about major hurt, not just some small issue... but deep inside I don't feel as if I'm REALLY forgiving.... I have a hard time forgetting the issue as well, I do pray about it, but still, that feeling doesn't go away easily... I've also heard that we don't truly forgive if we don't forget.... I was just trying to do the same thing and gave her some definitions... the mom in me kicks in and I want to hug her, spank her, give her a lecture, explain it to her....all at the same time, just to make sure she won't be totally lost..., just like I would do with my own daughter, then again, if I caught my daughter talking like that, I may just kill her.... LOL! well I can see that you still have some energy left even after a rough day.... I thought so....good! If you used the "n" word as a "term of endearment" as you said..ie: with your close friends who knew you were joking and didn't get offended and was completely acceptable to them, then I guess it could be acceptable, TO THEM in that specific case, if you ever use is in a derrogatory way , in that case , no, I don't think you are decent, and I wouldn't have to know any further about you to know that.... I however don't think you used it to offend anybody, really.... but ultimately is not a respectful word to use specially coming from a white fellow to a black fellow and specially under certain circumstances... and I think that decent people (as much as you may not like that word...) will not support others that use it and will not vote for those who use it... You may disagree with all the above definitions of the word decency, but they are what they are....and by no means I'm trying to tell you to abide by them either....that is totally up to you...

Ahh Jodie.... even though other things are important and could be even more important, DECENT people will ALWAYS care if a law maker or leaders use the "n" word.... and I'm sure you are going to need the decent voters you know.... I want to stay positive and believe that we have more decent people voting in American than not.....

YEs indeed, it's the governmen who made the choice to back Washington up... and I clearly remember when Canada didn't and things were a little cold, but you know what, if they felt that way, then good for Canada! and even though things were cold for a while, Canada is still there , surviving and not living in fear of the US... I as well sympathise very deeply over the military losses in Australia, Canada and other countries, I REALLY do...:think

Just wanted to say that I've been watching "The War" excellent! and you are so right about that, those people back then were really tough... they could do and take pretty much everything.... impressive!

We tend to change for the better as we grow older...I like you want to stay positive... so I sincerely hope that Jodie gets rid of the negative attitude soon so that she can have a better happier life, and I mean it very sincerely. Thank you.

YOur feelings are legitime to you and that I respect, I really think it was a joke, but wish you wouldn't have gotten hurt since I personally don't agree with hurting anyone, but I n my heart feel that it was really a joke, same kind of joke I've heard about every other religion, race, being fat, and so forth..... Chris, I'm with you, calling people names doesn't put this person in a different category of any that critizices a particular religion, in fact, it's even worst in my opinion because ultimately anybody has the right to critizice or not agree with any religion..., which byt the way, I know that's not what you were doing..you were just defending the point of a joke just being a joke and to lighten up... which I also agree with you. This was not about americans or the rest of the world agreeing with fundamentalist islam, which I would think that those fundamentalists muslims that live in American and other countries would agree with their religion obviously, other than thpse, I'm not so sure why they would agree with that religion...., otherwise they would be practicing it...and I don't see that happening... Besides, if there are plenty of fundamentalists islamics in American, then why would the joke be treated any different from a Catholic joke, right? WHoever found the joke tasteless is fine, I respect that, but whoever took it as a joke and only that, it should be ok too.... As far as countries having allies, ALL countries do, for one reason or another, whether we like it or not, I suggest they take it with their own leaders as to why they want to be US allies... and if it's because our country is "so powerful", well, how is that anybody's fault... I wonder why so many nations were there when we went to Iraq... it must have been because we are so powerful that they felt the need to agree with us out of fear, give me a break! Ultimately, it was a joke, I welcome all jokes about Christianity, which I am one...or any other subhect, bring them on! if they are jokes, that's how I take them!:clap2:

Firstly, I'm so sorry for what happened to you and I can completely understand how you have felt all these years and how you feel now, I agree with you, I have similar issues, it's hard for me to forgive in certain cases and it seems almost impossible to forget... and do I even want to forget... I have heard over and over that when we don't forgive we are only hurting ourselves and the person who hurt us is going around like nothing...just like your teacher and the principal and therefore we should forgive for our own benefit...and this is beside religious belief... but that it's simply healthy for ourselves to forgive, so I try, but boy is it hard! That teacher was an irresponsible woman to say the least, believe me, I could say a lot more about her, so was the principal, and I think they did know what they were doing... just took the easy way out of it... the boys...well, maybe they didn't know to a certain extent... but certain actions that people do against us do hurt so much and sometimes the follow us the rest of our lives... I'm really sorry.:cry
