Starbucks Coffee or Latte's
kc892020 replied to MegProctor84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
https://www.amazon.com/Torani-Sugar-White-Chocolate-64-Ounce/dp/B000IEXK6E This is my favorite sub for white chocolate. I find the sauce to be a much superior sub than the syrup when it comes to coffees. What I like to do is order a skinny iced or hot plain latte then when I get home, add the sauce to it. Then it's literally the same thing only sugar free. -

The Plant-Based Bariatric: Can It Be Done?
kc892020 replied to kc892020's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Wow, thank you again! -
Hello everyone! Its been quite a long time since I've utilized this site, but I'm itching to get people's opinions on something. Lately, I've been stewing on becoming plant-based, or at least, mostly plant-based. Can this be done as someone who's had WLS? Would it be difficult to meet protein goals? Has anyone on here tried it, or does it? There's a good possibility this question has already been asked on here before, and I just can't find it. But I am curious. Any thoughts on this are appreciated! Thank you.

The Plant-Based Bariatric: Can It Be Done?
kc892020 replied to kc892020's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you for your response! I really appreciate it. It seems like Australia has more access to plant-based protein drinks and shakes than we do here, based on what I've been researching. For instance, that water sounds amazing but I can't seem to find anything like that here. :( -
The Plant-Based Bariatric: Can It Be Done?

Thank you, this was very helpful! Have you noticed any issues with this lifestyle? Are your labs normal and you're able to keep on track? I think my biggest fear is protein not absorbing well enough. Have you ever had to worry about kidney stones? Do you have a recommended brand for the vegan protein water? Thank you immensely for all of your help! -
Does Nioxin help with hair loss
kc892020 replied to pccooper's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I never tried Nioxin. Personally, time is the only thing that worked for my hair loss. And I tried everything-shampoos, biotin, etc. Don't get discouraged! It is only temporary and it will grow back. -
The Plant-Based Bariatric: Can It Be Done?

Thank you for sharing that link. You're right though, it definitely doesn't get a lot of traffic and isn't the most helpful resource. 😕 -
I've used Citrical Petites and my levels always come back normal. It's a lot easier to get because you don't have to special order it from a website, plus, there's generic versions of it too. The only thing is you do have to take two tablets FOUR times a day, and you have to crush them and either dissolve them in a beverage or mix them in food. If you want to avoid any possibility of sugar, Celebrate multivitamin capsules are excellent. You can buy them either on this site's store, or directly from their website https://celebratevitamins.com/products/multi-complete-45?variant=7642367197231. They are based out of a town only 30 minutes from me, so I tend to trust them a bit more than most brands since I know where they're coming from. Good luck!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say if anyone is need of recipes, I'm full of them. I know this time of year can be a nightmare for those of us who have had bariatric surgery, and I wanted to let you know if you need help, I'm here! I've got recipes for all sorts of bariatric-friendly holiday foods: pumpkin pie, cauliflower stuffing, cookies, donuts, delicious drinks, etc. Yes, you CAN enjoy the tastes of the season if you've had bariatric surgery! NOTE: Please let me know of food allergies.

Hey! Oh geez, I feel just awful. I posted this topic and never responded. I hate using the excuse "life happened," but it did. I seem to be having difficulty uploading the document for whatever reason, so if you're interested in recipes, kindly send me a private message asking what you're looking for and I'll see if I can find anything to help.

Have you tried blending it with frozen milk or ice?

That's easy! Even my non-bariatric friends love this recipe. Enjoy! 2.25 cups of almond flour .5 cups of sweetener of choice (I use monk fruit sweetener) 1 tsp of baking soda 4 eggs (you're vegan, so I'd recommend Bob's Red Mill Egg Replacer...I've used it before and it's amazing) 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice .25 cups of milk substitute Preheat the oven to 350. Grease a 12-count donut pan and set aside. Mix the ingredients together and pour into a plastic ziplock bag. Cut one corner of the bag and squeeze out batter into the donut pan. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Remove and let cool before transferring to cooling racks. Frosting: There's actually a couple of things you can do here, depending on what kind of donuts you like. Are you a glazed donut person? Frosting? Jelly? Cinnamon sugar or powdered? I like using the standard recipe for Cool Whip frosting made with sugar free Cool Whip and sugar free pudding mix. But... I just realized that's neither kosher or vegan. Let me know. :)

OK, it looks like I got a variety of answers here, so here's what I'm going to do: I'm going to compile everything I've got and make a document out of it. When it's done, I post it here. Thank you for your responses and cooperation!

That depends...which stage are you in?
-
Yes...but here's the catch: you have to eat "bariatric-friendly" versions of your favorite junk foods. Think cauliflower pizza crust with low-sugar sauce and turkey pepperoni, donuts and cookies made with almond flour and monk fruit sweetener, Mac and cheese made with macaroni from the Great Low Carb Bread Co. and low-fat cheese sauce, sugar-free cool whip on a crustless sugar-free pumpkin pie slice, etc. The good news is there's a surprisingly large number of already-made foods available such as "Oreos" made by Catalina Crunch, "potato chips" made by Quest or Kay's, etc. If you do your homework, you don't ever have to eat anything bad for you ever again. Good luck! You'll do great.

The first thing to do is ask yourself, what are my triggers? Then work to resolve them. What makes you get off of your plan? Find out what your triggers are, then resolve to get back to your plan. If it's cravings that are driving you mad, try and find bariatric friendly versions of your favorite junk foods. Just make sure to measure out your portions. There's nearly a bariatric friendly version of just about any food these days, many of which taste just as good as "the real thing." Good luck! You've got this! ❤️

So...just out of curiosity, has anyone ever been broken up with due to their WLS? I was seeing a guy for a couple of months and he broke it off because he "couldn't deal with all my dietary restrictions." WTF? He claimed it wasn't fun hanging out with someone whose options for dining out were limited and who couldn't drink. Has anyone else ever experienced this?
-
No, he definitely wasn't the right guy for me at all. I'm happy to hear you found a wonderful and supportive man. Stories like yours give me hope!
