Home for day two post and this morning I am sipping my first small serving of protein drink! It taste So good! Lol, pain for me has been nile to none at all; I still have the pain patch behind my ear so maybe that's why. They started me on the small 30ml cups in the hospital as well and those do help me keep up with my water demand. Over all experience, I'd do it all over again I feel fantastic other than a little it drowsy none and then so of course I nap! Dr sent me home with the liquid codein/advil medicine and it tastes like robitussin, not sure to liquids for meds but I took it before bed last night just in case and it must work but I was exhausted and I slept a solid 7 hrs! Haven't done that in a few weeks! If anyone has any questions just let me know; it is interesting to me all our recoveries and meal plans after surgery are so different. I had to wait 48 hrs before anything to drink other than water; Crystal lite or the premier protein water (which is great and has 20g of protein) so as I said at the top of my post this little 4oz of shake I'm sipping is so good! My biggest thing now tmi, is I've not had a BM which I know its because of nothing but water in me so this protein will help, not feeling constipated so I just need to let my body and nature take its course!

Why I Eat When I'm Not Hungry
JettK replied to Tamarita's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am 50 and had the same beliefs of cleaning a plate; no more! I started off cutting back by using a child size plate so it cute down my portions; then when I felt hungry when I knew I shouldnt be I'd grab a protein shake and it took care of my cravings. It is,can and will be a mind over matter thing and 3 days in I can feel a bit of success already! Tonight I had a quarter of a cup of homemade tomato soup and ate it with a spoon slowly and wasn't able to eat it all. But it was so good! You can do this; tell yourself you aren't going through this surgery only to fall back into old habits! Another trick I've used before when I thought I was hungry but knew there was no way; brush your teeth lol sounds odd but it helps! Hope this helped! -
Of course! The protein water I have is fruit punch and its got a great flavor to it; helps to have a bit more than straight water. They started me on water 8hrs after the surgery and I was ready as my tongue was way dry! Remember you can also drink Crystal lite as it has no sugars! This is a nice option too!

I don't smoke but on the day of surgery I wasn't tested but asked if I'd smoked or drank or eaten anything. I bet you will be okay; come here and vent next time you feel like caving:)

I had my surgery on Wed the 5th and I had no issues at all. Yes the post diet gets very very old but it helps the Drs in the OR and makes your surgery/recovery so much easier. I've just had my first 2 oz of protein today and it tasted so good! When you start the preop diet rotate protein shakes with protein water and even Crystal lite, will help break it up taste wise for you. Good luck! You got this! Oh and I didn't tell anyone either so when anyone saw me doing shakes at lunch or breaks I told him I was on a low cal diet. That way its already known so no questions asked!

Yes ma'am I haven't had any issues; the neatest idea are these littls 2Tbsp cups; 4 of them per hour. They are sending me home with cups as well. They also provided me wlth a bottle of Crystal Lite lemon an it has no sugar or dyes. I filll up 2 water 2 crystals lites. I'll do this still Friday then can begin to add proteins asked as well as the 64oz of water. .i can see this will work for me successfully and I am so pleased

They are keeping on a pretty good regimen of pain meds; so maybe I'll stay semi pain free! So far they are allowing me water to make sure I can keep things down (30Ml of water 4x an hour) mentally I know its time or passed time for food lol but this water helped my dry mouth so I'm satisfied For now lol

Should be discharged in the morning and off to begin my new ways I'm glad its over, I had all types of paranoid thought, lol so uncalled for good lucl this month for the rest of you!
